I think videos sort of just become secondary after a while, she's just making the music she wants to make (which is always best). I think she says "at the end of the day, I do it for me" in slight defense incase anybody does dislike things, but ultimately Honeymoon is definitely (at least from what I heard) the best vocal album of that year, the production is really great too. It's so cohesive but brings along more elements along the way, I love that album so much. Her voice is so amazing. Visuals can be a part of it all in the way of photoshoots too, like I think more of the Neil Krug UV shoots than the videos bc there's only so many things you can do in videos.

I think this is my favorite song of hers

ETA: I had an instrumental version play during my wedding ceremony, as well as Bel Air for walking down the aisle and a few more

I feel like I am the only one who thinks she spoke really well, acceptance speeches are always a minute long, like, if not shorter. And she looked incredible

I find it really amazing to notice the completely different personality types of the Grant sisters.
Caroline is reserved and low key, while Lana is intensely warm and emotional, scaring her younger sister.

Also have yall noticed the timing of Barrie's announcement about his break up with Lana, right when the news about her and Francesco's break up happened. By doing this he's hurting her when she's already wounded from her break up with Frankie. You know he could have just announced the "details" about his break up with Lana last year as well, why did he have to bring it up now?!? He thinks that Lana must be emotionally fragile now and will go running back to him but I know Lana won't ever reunite with a person like him. Now I can understand how her whole album Ultraviolence was sort of a warning to herself to keep her from ever returning to Barrie...God please send a nice man for Lana once...She deserves a good sweet man!!! Everybody pray for Lana please!! She needs our prayers now more than ever. Stay strong Angel. We all have your back <3

theory: lana broke up with him because Grant was programmed with a number of personalities; May Jailer, and Lizzy Grant to name a few. She performed in clubs, under the names of multiple personalities, and even recorded a demo album in 2005-2006 under the name, May Jailer. At age twenty, Grant signed a music contract, the album was shelved. Years later Grant, signed to the Indie label, 5 Point Records. While on the label, Grant released her first album Lana Del Rey aka Lizzy Grant. Even though marketed by her father, the album tanked so badly was removed from iTunes. Grant brought herself out of the record deal, her team scrubbed the internet clean of anything Lizzy Grant, and Grant was reprogrammed. Grant reemerged a year later with her hair dyed (a trigger symbolizing a switch in her personalities) going by a new name; Lana Del Rey, showing the singer was either reprogrammed, or her handlers called on a personality not used before.
Grant is due to be a puppet for the rest of her life, but has been one long enough to know how to survive. She seduces her handlers to make them love her, rather than abuse her like other puppets. She knows that if she ever tries to break free she’ll die, so she wont fight back. She’ll just ‘ride’ it out (no pun intended). After the song ends another monologue begins. She is shown crawling with her handler, then fooling around with all of her handlers in different settings. Her behavior is rather animalistic almost cat-like as she says ‘Be wild’ yet again showing her Beta Programming. She is shown holding a gun, aiming it at one of her handlers. Possibly symbolizing Delta Programming otherwise known as assassin programming.

24: The beginning of the chorus (the pitch of 'hours') & the bridge humming + instruments Terrence loves you: Bridge (Ground control to major Tom + the sound effect) Salvatore: 'Catch me if you can, working on my tan' - the minimalistic sound with only piano TBD: The post-chorus (the kind of 'echo' voice of Lana repeating 'deeper and deeper' etc.) I love the build-up of instruments and vocals in her songs - especially on HM

As someone who has been familiar with Daniel for decades now (I also once met him in Texas), already very familiar with this song.

Lana does a great job, and the great thing is, Lana is introducing who knows how many people to Daniel and his music. Which is what is so great about Lana.
Look how many people she has led people to- from Lou Reed and Nina Simone and Leonard Cohen and the hundreds of references in her songs to so many others.
To newer or obscure acts including Barrie.

Great cover, and the changing of the words from lifetime to long time in the last verse makes a lot of sense if one knows Daniel and his story and would not make much sense
    with Lana.

Very proud of Lana for this.

So today I was watching the sixth episode of season 3 of SLEEPY HOLLOW….They introduced a new character this season called “PANDORA” as in the lady with the box.  [Pandora's box is an artifact in Greek mythology, taken from the myth of Pandora's creation in Hesiod's Works and Days. The "box" was actually a large jar (πίθος pithos) given to Pandora (Πανδώρα, "all-gifted", "all-giving"), which contained all the evils of the world]
Pandora is played by SHANNYN SOSSAMON who has a striking resemblance to LANA DEL REY.
    http://conversationsabouther.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Shannyn-Sossamon.jpg

When I saw her for the first time in SLEEPY HOLLOW I thought she resembles Lana but I didn’t care much about it. In the sixth episode she was plucking these flowers from a tree where each flower is supposed to represent a form of terror.  There are six flowers and they are called :

    1.       SECRETS
    2.       CHAOS
    3.       LONELINESS
    4.       INNOCENCE LOST
    5.       DEATH
    6.       FEAR

When she said INNOCENCE LOST I was immediately reminded of Lana’s song GODS & MONSTERS in which she keeps singing INNOCENCE LOST .This was an amazing case of LIFE IMITATING ART yet again.  So I decided to research SHANNYN and discovered that she acted in the short film called DESIRE which is a promo for the 2014 JAGUAR F-TYPE CONVERTIBLE. This movie’s soundtrack was provided by our very own angel  LANA DEL REY. Her song BURNING DESIRE was used for this film. You can watch this film here : https://vimeo.com/104606163

I also found out that SHANNYN used to sing in this band called WARPAINT. [As a musician, she provided vocals and drums to Warpaint from 2004 to 2008, when she left the group to focus more on acting. Sossamon's sole recording with the band is the 2009 EP, Exquisite Corpse. ]

This song STARS is sooooo fucking beautiful and soothing and the visuals remind me of FREAK (Honeymoon Trailer) , MUSIC TO WATCH BOYS TO and SHADES OF COOL…..This band even has a vibe and sound similar to Lana….Enjoy

No. 16 in my country now... I bet it'll be out of the Top 20 next week, but I hope I'm wrong. And the Monthly Charts were updated today (Yes, we get to see September charts on October 29th ) and HM debuted at No. 6, which is AMAZING because it came out on Sept 25... the month had only 5 days left. I guess Latin America is still supporting her hard. Hope it never changes.

Maybe it's because attending these events just invite people to speculate on your "look" and Lana gets worked up over shit talking and knows that the media see her as an easy target. Throw in the location, and how much traveling and prepping is involved to be in Milan, ready to walk a red carpet.. maybe it's just too much for her. I wish she would have made a small thank you video, because we pine for her... but as a person who suffers from anxiety, I see logical reasons for not wanting to be there. It's no soft ice cream.. it's hardcore press, paps and (the brite lights)

I feel like Lana is at a point in her career/life, where she has a mentality of "if it doesn't bring me happiness, it isn't worth the effort."
It's conflicting to want to make the fans happy and also feel happy with yourself. Maybe Lana has come to a realization that we as fans are insatiable.

    And really we are.

It makes me happy that Lana was shading Francesco. It seems like she doesn't think that they will be together for much longer since she makes it seem as though he wouldn't be father material.
She probably already has another guy on the side

Star in a Werner Herzog film, please.
Alright. If she follows through on this (we know how often she changes her mind) and doesn't tour for Honeymoon at all, THEN. THEN I can understand criticism for lack of promotion.

I really like this description especially the "slaughter-of-the-lamb" metaphor. It's really apt. Also, there's this. Was her last known pre-fame show an omen?

Oh yeah, I forgot about that about her mom. Also, LOL at all you over-emotional thirsty fans. You disturbed Chuck.

Not that I think we need another Tropico, but this would not exactly be a lack of promo.

There. You said it. Explicitly. You're 30. Was that so hard?
Not sure what she's trying (not) to say about Franni. That he's not as famous as her? That she's a self-admitted weirdo and he's not? Or that she can't imagine a future having a family with him?

    Twincest vibes.

C'mon, you know I inspired the title of Ultraviolence. Don't lie.
In all seriousness, I can't believe she's unaware of fans such as myself. (I don't mean me specifically, I mean straight male fans generally.) Though we may be a minority post-fame, I suspect we were a large majority of her fans in the early days. I mean, this is a woman who wears a fake wedding ring to minimize advances from men. She has to know.

    #Lolita #YouLikeYourGirlsInsane

Ha, Lana would play Sharon Tate. Don't play like you don't fetishize dead celebs.

Re: the touring thing if she's really still affected by SNL, she needs to get over it and know why she's doing this - for herself. Like really know it. Stop rebelling - thinking of the Rolling Stone interview last year - and just realise what an incredible talent she has, stop relying on these douche men and get on out there and kick some arse because she is freaking amazing, way more talented than Barrie and Francesco.

hmm wow this interview did things to me.

While I understand the desire for a favorite artist to create more art, and the hope that other people will enjoy and be enriched by the music you enjoy, I don't understand the almost pathological obsession by some here with sales figures, promo for promo's sake (or merely for the sake of stimulating sales), or needing your listening choices validated by the general public's purchasing decisions.

Also, aside from the possibility of not recouping an excessive budget (which seems extremely unlikely here), any metric by which an album that went to #2 on the Billboard 200-- a feat achieved by only 36 musicians on the entire planet the previous year-- would be considered a "flop" is kind of absurd.

Exactly. This song is the key to truly understanding her inner dichotomy. And I love that she references the white tennis shoes of procrastination, inviting the listener (herself?) to hide away, evade responsibility and dream instead of do. It's the opposite of every other message we're sent, which equates leisurely rest with guilt.

Lana at least changes her sound with every album; if you really want to look at people adhering to a lazy formula, those artists both continue to release the same shapeless, meandering electronic-influenced songs, but have amassed too much critical goodwill for anyone to honestly assess their real originality and growth. Really, they are just better at having the right amount of residual "cool" factor and a brand that works.

I guess the reason I keep coming back here is that the rest of the music world just … insane. Lana always seems to have the ethos that melody is not passé, and we need to go back to that sort of 60's songcraft if we ever want to move forward.

I told everyone to give Swan Song another chance, and here it is - people finally realised the etheric vocals and the incredible chorus make for an incredible outcome. It's one of her better works of art, and to wrap it up with such a dark yet pleasing ending makes me deem it among the top songs from her.
