Oh my god not it being "coz my body is a ghost for you" not "kiss my body as it glows for you" That's such a life changer lol

YAAAAAAAAS MARINA SLAAAAAAY

Hmm idk that's not really what I think of as Urban. Only really Cloud Aura, What I Like, and So Far Away, (and some of her mixtape stuff). Mostly I think of it as just electronic and experiential pop. But I also don't really know what "urban" means.

Just listened to Miss Y again... It's actually one of the most honest and personal songs she's done tbh. It's unlike any other song I've heard lyrically. It's actually a really sad reflection on her career, she's so great, I hope she see that now

I noticed but it makes me kind of surprised you're such a big Charli fan because she definitely doesn't do that kind of music often.
-
You said you didn't really like Sucker so I'm surprised your all time favorites are Caught in the Middle and Doing it.. Caught in the Middle seems like such filler... That's why I was surprised a big name produced it. 1) Lock You Up 2) Stay Away 3) You're the One 4) Grins 5) Black Roses 6) I'll Never Know 7) What I Like 8) Nuclear Seasons 9) Glow 10) Need Ur Luv maybe? I feel obligated to put at least one Sucker track in it. It wasn't easy... The songs or the order. But those are definitely 10 of my favorites. Valentine, Body of My Own, You, SuperLove, Take My Hand. and Cuts Like Diamonds are also super important. (And Allergic to Love it actually grew on me and made me wish Sucker was more like it. I can't not move to that song)

What I will say is that while the lyrics this time around are some of her best, the melodies and instrumentals aren't my favorites. The melody for Obsessions was so beautiful and original. I do really like the chorus of Immortal though and the bridge.
-
What the actual fuck like I'm sorry everyone is entitled to their opinion but the lyrics are so intelligent and poetic. They are some of her best... As well as FROOT and Happy.

It was a joke lol... I figured it had to do with virginity. But not necessarily that. I always kind of thought it could've been sexual abuse even. Edit: oh I didn't see your post about the interview.
-
@ that's what I figured... I can't stand them. I hate how they call her and Charli "mom"... Literally every other comment is "I LOVE YOU MOM". Like shut up. I don't understand the new generation >_< Although if she was 16 and pregnant, she could be their mother probably... We'll never find out what happened the day she turned 17 >__>

She posted the immortal lyrics on Instagram and I wish I didn't read them (although I did stop halfway through). They are so beautiful and poetic I think if I heard them sung for the first time without reading them first I would weep... This album will be her opus I know it. Hopefully she will finally get the critical acclaim she deserves. Also the picture she posted of herself on Instagram with flowers in the background and the perfect amount of cleavage is my favorite yet from this era. She's so gorgeous. Why does such a perfect person exist it's not even fair to the rest of us... Ps.. Does anyone know why everyone is commenting "U got a thing for sponges huh?" On Marina's sponge picture... Like literally 85% of the comments are that and I can't find an explanation... Is it just a silent group think thing?

I actually listen to Break the Rules more than Breaking Up. Tbh I don't know when but Break the Rules grew on me really hard and it's like my favorite party song now... It just really psychs me up.
-
The Trinity is Lock You Up - You're the One - Stay Away. Breaking up is an okay song. Yall give it way too much praise. Fight me.

I figured because I knew she wrote a song or two for her but I wasn't sure if untouchable was one of them. I thought I put that in my post to save myself the embarrassment if it turned out to be the case but I guess I didn't >_<
-
Omg so excited for Immortal. I'm actually completely fine getting two ballads in a row because her lyrics in Happy were so on point and inspiring, and something tells me Immortal will be just as good and a great first song of 2015.
-
I skip over a lot of Sky's demos because some of them are pretty rough but the other day I listened to untouchable and it sounds exactly like a Britney song lol, it's funny with how Sky acts now to imagine her playing the whole sexy teenage virgin every guy wants act.

Every Night is so sweet and addicting like Hey QT! Not really into her other stuff I've heard though.

I didn't really mean she looks like all the other white girls out there, she definitely has a unique beauty, I just meant in terms of skin tone. She's not going to make people with darker skin feel more beautiful because she's a pale beauty, even if her features and hair are dark.

That's an interesting perspective I never considered... That racism and sexism CAN happen to anyone techcincally, but it's all about scale. Maybe if I explained it this way my parents would understand it more because it wouldn't feel as much like I was telling them instances where they were mistreated by black people because they are white don't matter. For example my mother (technically grandmother) was once grabbed and yelled at by a black man when she was very young because she was white. I didn't know how to explain to her that in the grand scheme of things that doesn't really matter because to her it was traumatic. I know I'm white so POC don't want to hear it, but telling white people their feelings don't matter is only going to make them resist change because EVERYONE'S feelings matter. Attacking all white people may be a good way to try to get SLIGHTLY more even with them, but it does nothing positive for race relations especially when dealing with people who don't understand why racism against white people is different than racism against POC. I think because I've never personally been a victim of racism (since I'm white) it's easier for me to remove the rage and emotion attached and come at it from this perspective. I know a lot of (unintentional) racists, and reading @Pretty Baby's post made me rethink the ways I can educate them.

I'm aware of this but I don't see how that concerns Charli.. Even if she talked about her indian heritage all the time (which would probably be forced if her mother never involved her in it), she's still super light skinned and looks white. It's not like she's a dark skinned Indian girl that will change beauty standards.
-
OH MY GOD NO SHE IS NOT. It's not her fault if she was raised white. That's her identity. It's her body, her rules! Why should she have to bring up that she's Indian in every other interview out of no where!? It's not like she's ever asked about it, and she's certainly not trying to hide it. Maybe being half Indian hasn't really had an effect on her life thus far? What's weong with that? She's only 22 and still discovering herself, honestly get off her back. Honestly if she wants to identify as white that's her choice and power to her! Maybe her mom doesn't know much about her family or there's some really bad blood there. Charli choosing how she wants to personally identify does not erase Indian culture from anyone else but herself. And if she never was even brought up to know anything about Indian culture how is that her fault? I know I'm white but I'm a human being so I know that it's weird to tell people wtf they should do with their heritage! It's one thing with Iggy because she's stealing someone else's heritage. Charli is just identifying the way that she wants to and there's nothig wrong with that. She's not hurting anyone. I'm so confused why yall are hating on the poor girl so hard over the way she lives her life which you know very little about.
-
Sorry but it's a matter of taste. Tbh, she's not amazing but she can rap better than me. And I'm willing to bet better than any of you. Compared to people as famous as her she seems talentless, but if she were just a small time girl Id think "this white chick can rap". I draw, and I don't think I'm amazing, but I consider drawing my talent... Edit: also it's so funny to go from one side of the race argument to the other lol. I was literally screaming and about to have an aneurism trying to explain racism to my white family who thinks racism just means hating someone because of their skin color. Now Im playing the ignorant white boy who doesn't understand why Iggy is the spawn of satan... It's kind of nice actually, to know that outside of my family there are people who actually understand race relations and im not the crazy one they make me out to be.
-
Shhh honestly what she said wasn't that bad. Regardless of whether you think Iggy is super problematic or not, Charli defending her does NOT make Charli racist. She's he friend, and knows her a lot better than we do and im willing to bet she genuinely does not believe Iggy is racist. And don't even get me started on race issues and what is and is not racist... Just had the worst most heated argument with my conservative family because my grandpa just HAD to mention ferguson and the protests and literally I fought me against everyone else like a passionate crazy person and ended up storming off into my room... I am not the kind of person that gives racism a pass. I just really don't think Charli is that bad and even Iggy for that matter isn't the worst thing around. She's just trying to make a living, and hip hop has been around for so long now that I think it's unfair to say she's just profitng off of black peoples work. She makes her own music and hip hop has been around for so long now its ridiculous to say she can't make that kind of music. Rapping is her talent, and she should be allowed to profit from it without having to comment on every black rights issue immediately. Believe it or not Iggy probably is a lot busier than Azealia Banks...

I think it's unfair for you guys to criticize how she identifies ethnically... Just because she's Indian doesn't mean she has to talk about it and embrace it. You don't know her personally, you don't know how she identifies or how much she knows about her heritage. As a POC she can choose to pass for white if she wants to. It's not really her fault if she was raised basically as a white girl. Not knowing she's Indian-Ugandan, no one would be able to tell. She doesn't owe anything to you or anyone else concerning her ethnicity. That's giving her a responsibility she shouldn't have to have. It's up to her to explore her heritage if she wants to. I think it's kind of oppressive to tell POC they must act a certain way about their ethnicity but white people don't have to worry about it at all. She shouldn't be criticized for not being white...
