Omg, yesss I remember that! Do you remember A Stroke of Genie-us???
I feel like the a capella of Blue Jeans could fit really well with something out of Is This It or Room On Fire. Help me out @@ednafrau and @@Quentin!
I would also LOVE to hear a mashup of Heavy Hitter (instrumental) and Between love & hate!!! :flutter: I feel like these 2 could make a really great mashup for some reason!

You can drive with an European drivers licence as far as I know.
Maybe Barrie doesn't want to drive because he doesn't live in LA and doesn't know the map

'Implied gore' kinda defeats the whole definition of gore though... While it was disturbing I didn't think it was that gory either, tbh (I never watched the 2nd).

So do I... And it definitely could!! I think the chorus of Blue Jeans + the instrumentals of the chorus of Trying your luck could fit really nicely...

I didn't come to appreciate it until I saw it as a sort of live album! I think a lot of the songs from The Red Shoes really benefited from the live drums. Plus, that re-recording of Moments of Pleasure is absolutely devastating! The coolest thing for me about 50 Words For Snow was hearing how well her son could sing and how much he sounds like her. He's got such a beautiful voice!

I like it, but I was a bit disappointed at first, when I found out it was only a re-recording and restructuring of old songs... I was a bit like, 'what's the point?'.
I absolutely love the collab with Stephen Fry in '50 Words for Snow' (song)... And I mostly like them, tbh.
And yeah, it's unbelievable... And she's such a genuinely strange person, so reserved and eccentric. I love that aspect of hers.

i SO wish i knew how to use audio programs...would "blue jeans" fit with "trying your luck"??

Can you believe she's just turned 55?! How did you feel about Director's Cut? I sort of think of it as the closest thing we'll get to a live album from her. I love 50 Words For Snow, but I'm not a fan of the collaborations on that album. They don't quite seem to fit in with the rest.

i used to be a mash up addict a few years ago....this is a great idea! i like your mix, @@cola
i have to think a bit, but off the bat one i always thought would fit was the "million dollar man" vocal with fiona apple's "the child is gone" instrumental.
@@Philomene , i think the "raise me up (nirvana)" would be great!
i'd be especially excited to hear more lana rock mashups ♥

so i think that there should be something done about all the acapella songs and the instrumentals we have available. some kind of mash-up similar in vein to what vitamin-ldr did with methamphetamines and thomas newman? but i don't have the ear to match beats or melodies really so hopefully those of you out there with finer tuning can suggest some good ideas for mixes? like, 'midnight dancer girlfriend' would sound great with ...? heartshaped chevrolet would mesh well with...? the big bad wolf instrumental (which is actually better than the actual song itself) would flow nicely with...? so on.
i'm trying to fuck around w/ some audio programs so either i or something else with more seasoned audio skill can try and put something together if a particular mix sounds intriguing / potentially beautiful? ya
this is like the first song i've tried my hand at mixing. its laura palmer's theme x methamphetamines (chopped / screwed). it sounds totally schizophrenic, but i kind of like it? its rough as fuck at the start but if you don't listen to the whole thing i'd hope you listen to 1:00 and onward at the very least
http://picosong.com/RpNm
if you judge me, i'll kill you. jk, you can go ahead cause i don't know what i'm doing tbh and so tips / suggestions are welcome
for reference, we have (official) instrumentals for:
video games
born to die
carmen
bel air
hit and run
heavy hitter
ride (intro)
and we have acapellas for:
born to die
blue jeans (filtered)
carmen (filtered)
video games (filtered)
young & beautiful (filtered)
plus all the unreleased acapellas and ... i may be missing others? pls gimme ideas cause i dont know really what would mesh ~sonically~

I think I read somewhere that he'd used a live performance because it was the closest he could get to an a capella version (and you definitely shouldn't ).

I love that the remixer used her vocals from the Jools Holland performance (and not sure if I should feel weird for recognizing it right after the vocals started)

elllipsis liked a post in a topic by missirinee in Lana in Alabama/South
Okay, I'm sure some people are feeling me too with their interest or curiousity in Lana's journey to the South. Seriously, it's killing me and I think it's the most questionable and mysterious yet glamorous aspect about Lana for me.
I think Lana was definitely in the South but what confuses me is whether she was in Alabama (as mentioned in 1949, Pin-Up Galore and another song? I can't name it off the top of my head...) or Mississippi. She mentions in Brite Lites, "I'm going back to Aberdeen, back where I was a beauty queen" and we get hints of Lana go-go dancing in the song. There's a city in Mississippi called Aberdeen, and where I think Raise Me Up is about.
Raise Me Up to me is definitely about when Lana was in the South. Some people might think otherwise, but I got hints from the song talking about the South when I heard the references about voodoo and the South is notorious for its history tangling with voodoo.
After learning and seeing Lana's senior yearbook dedication thing with her quote, ect. I was surprised to learn that according to the Kent article, she wanted to go to SUNY Geneso. In my knowledge, she went to Fordham. So where the South comes in is that I think she was well on her way of going to SUNY Geneso, but somewhere between graduation and starting school there, Lana decided to go to the South. She might've subtracted the year in the South from her memory so that's why she's 27 to the public and not revealed to be 28, her real age
There's been some theories that she followed K to the South for a year before he got arrested and sent to death row and she went back to New York. In regarding to the K/South theory, Alabama has the death row penalty so...
There's also that screenshot of Lana's old Lizzy Grant Myspace where in 2008 she listed her location as Alabama for a while so that can contradict the theory that she went 2003/2004/ (one of those years) in the South. Or maybe she spent those years after her graduation from Kent in Mississippi and 2008 in Alabama?
I'd like to know your theories! I have a lot more that I can't exactly name off of the top of my head detail to detail so any addition to this hopefully growing topic is welcome.
