Dan definitely had a large impact on how the album sounded, but no amount of production is able to cover shitty songwriting Dan's production is simply the cherry on top of Rick's gourmet cake. Don't give Dan too much credit for shaping Ultraviolence to be the masterpiece it is. Since we don't even know how the original UV sounded, and how different it is to the final product, it's unfair to owe UV's success solely to Dan. At the end of the day, these are tracks co-written and birthed by Nowels. He is the real man behind the album.

I'm becoming convinced that Honeymoon is her de facto best album. Each of the songs (except Freak) have such a timeless and transcendental essence to them. She does so much with so little, and she does it profoundly. It's kinda sad how quickly her fans overlook and write off the record. It takes a while to get into it, but it's so worth it.

I hated this at first but it really grew on me. I LOVE the part at 2:18-2:21 where it's just the instrumental for a bit. So gorgeous. The vocals towards the end of the song is beautiful as well. Everything builds up without really going anywhere. Very interesting.
