I wonder if trips or her tour influenced the sound of this new album… It seems to be the case very often with her LPs since Norman (LA to the Moon tour: there was that post about entering her blue era… which led to Norman / with the NFR tour, she has been very much inspired by the Midwest leg of the tour, tainting Chemtrails / the absence of tour or trip lead to the « quiet » BB / the emotional « trip » of losing family members inspired OB - ok, that one is a reach, I admit )
-
My secret wish though would be that those chords to be for her newly recorded audio poems (if she ever decides to get back to that)
-
Haha Jack and piano, I knew people on LB would be fuming Hey, maybe it’s for Rob’s second LP? seriously though, Lana can throw pretty much anything at me now: OB was very varied and I even love the quieter tracks. Besides, Jesse Rutherford released out of the blue a mixtape last Friday and there are a lot of « bops » in it (no Lana of course), so it should quench my thirst for bops.

Any vocals like the first verse of The Greatest would be a dream come true: I miss Long Beach and i-i-i miss you babe, I miss dancing with you the most of all… These lines are top 5 vocals from her.

I am so glad I’m not a die-hard Swiftie because her and Lana would surely bankrupt me…

Indeed! but maybe this is why I’m not sure if we should even realistically wish for more guitar-heavy albums in the future, since it was almost like a « once-in-a-lifetime » thing Not that I am against it at all, but it seems less and less likely over time

Would you ever want an LDR song to play at your funeral?
GeminiLanaFan replied to barttttender's topic in Lana Thoughts
I don’t think I want any song to play at my funeral TBH, although many Lana songs would be « perfect » for it. A song played at a funeral gets way too deeply associated with someone’s service and it makes it almost impossible to listen to it again afterwards for the people who were there (my ex mother-in-law said she wanted to have What a Wonderful World played at her funeral and just thinking about it, it became hard to not associate the song with her death - and she wasn’t even dead!!!!) -

It’s the same mix as the album but I don’t know, it just hit different today. -

the Summer I Turned Pretty has How to Disappear playing during one of the scenes of the last episode of season 2. I’m surprised to find it very good right now (I’ve struggled with the final mix of that one since day one TBH). I always thought the verses’ lyrics were so incredible but the production gets better over time I guess. -
It’s different from Hollywood Bowl indeed, but both songs have piano at their core to support the melody and is the main instrument of the production. Thematically, very different, also vocally. Although they are different, I « compare » them (or will compare them over time) for their replay value: piano-driven Lana songs are either in my faves from her (CN, Kintsugi surprisingly) or I barely listen to them (WFWF, Cherry Blossom… sorry )

Songs you associate with their album covers
GeminiLanaFan replied to lanaismamom's topic in Lana Thoughts
BTD: National Anthem Paradise: Cola (her face is serving « in your face cunt » and I love it) or American UV: Cruel World. The Other Woman is close second. HM: title track. Alt cover from UO: Music to Watch Boys To LFL: ??? A bit of Love for the MV look. But maybe GBA?!? or Change? NFR: Mariners and The Greatest CoCC alt cover: Yosemite. CoCC standard : For Free I guess because it has lots of features BB: title track 💯 OB: title track or CN. -
Gave it a couple of listens and here are my thoughts: - once you listen to it for what it is, without expectations, it’s very good, very heartbreaking, not so much Sunday church vibes like I first heard it. The song really picks up its pace when she finishes her first verse. I was hoping for Candy Necklace X more jazzy vibes à la Buddy’s RV, but it’s giving instead Candy Necklace meets Sweet. Very « Disney ». Love their voices together and we do get the wordiness of OB tracks. Time will tell if I’ll love it more than Hollywood Bowl. - I hadn’t associated Candy Necklace to a possible Sean track, but after hearing Life Lesson (which is clearly about him), and after realization that CN is just after A&W, CN gets a new meaning in that regard. - I wonder if all the tracks Lana and Jon recorded were about Sean - Anyone else feels bad for both Clay and Mike H, considering she probably wasn’t over Sean when she was dating these two?

I think she was happy with UV… but there was a lot of « fuck this shit » energy while creating it. And we know that Dan and her « fought » while creating the album, so maybe if she had only her way, maybe Uv wouldn’t be as much guitar-driven as it is now…
-
Unpopular but… The more we learn about BTD and UV’s creation, the more I think those albums were sonically « accidental » or have been pushed a lot by their respective producer… and Lana would have preferred them to sound more « stripped back ».

I don’t love Taylor enough to buy her vinyls but the limited yellow one is really pretty 😍
