I’m so tired of people (even Charli herself) calling her underrated. She has a great career and a maybe a little bit messy but also loyal fanbase. But people, mainly her fans, still think that a huge commercial success is a MUST. If she’s still not the biggest after I Love It, Fancy, Boom Clap and Break the Rules – she’s not going to be a main pop star anyway. And I think this is her destiny - playing small club shows, meeting her fans in the queue for her own concerts, having a real contact with them via social media etc.
 
So yeah, maybe she’s not like Beyonce or Taylor Swift but she’s definitely loved and appreciated and has a career that many artists can only dream of.

um whet?? i'm not painting atlantic as anything, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see a trend in the way they treat charli as an artist on their roster. whether she's on good terms with them is irrelevant and not something i even mentioned; it has to do with the fact that she released vroom vroom, n1a, pop2, and the monthly singles and it was quiet from them. they're investing in promo for 1999 (limited thus far) because yes, they want a hit. i'm saying it's dumb that she puts in the work for these great projects and atlantic doesn't do what they can to at least keep some buzz around charli's name so when the time comes to drop a single the promo isn't coming out of nowhere.

I saw a comment on the video the other day that made me lol It was something about mathematicians being divided about how many wigs she snatched.

Labels put money into songs to make a profit its simple or otherwise they wouldn't of put Troye on the song to boost its commercial appeal.Of course they expect this to be a hit otherwise it wouldn't of gone through multiple production stages which isn't cheap for it just to be thrown out there for the fans Atlantic aren't dumb they knew it had a similarity to a similarly released hit single(2002) and decided to capitilise on it. Also the fact that this is supposedly her biggest budget video since boys judging on the imagery cements this.

it bothers me that whenever charli releases a single like atap or boys or 1999, the label expects it to chart yet they pay her dust for the rest of the year... like the GP hasn't heard of charli since boys and even then it's not like that song went #1. how do they expect 1999 to do super well if they haven't bothered investing a dime into keeping charli a relevant name? angels do LABOUR to promote her and charli is clearly working her ass off, it's sad that atlantic just expects that to be enough. stream 1999

I'm so excited for the music video, I hope for the sake of the song's success they don't kill all hype and wait like a month to release the video.

I can guarentee you the song wont get sent to radio ubtil the video comes out and generates buzz (if it gets sent to radio at all)
