It's probably been brought up, but whoever 'K' was, he was a musician?
    receipts:

For K Part 2: "I like your music and you like the way I walk"
Westbound: "You like to write about all of your problems, put them in songs because you think it would solve them"

    now on to my lanalysis

"Why did you go? I guess I know, maybe my question is, why must it come to this?"
She is just questioning why this had to happen, although she knows what led to it.. RE: "a drive-by sunday night" "Is this what you wished to commit a crime, to be serving time?"

I feel like the whole of Westbound is about her usual "Honouring love lost", she knows he is gone and isn't coming back but she can't give him up. (Gangsta boy: "I don't care if you're going to prison, I wouldn't said I love love you if I didn't.")

This also links to Dark Paradise, in Westbound she says "you and your melody" and proceeds to hum it, the same melody that is haunting her in Dark Paradise. The melody is a part of him that still possesses her.

"They're tryna teach me about new ways of living, they're tryna teach me 'bout way of forgiving"
Lizzi attending one of her famous self help groups

"you're such a bad bad boy, I love you anyway" - The dedication to him is still strong as ever, this lizzy chick is way too clingy

"You would not approve, but you are on the move"
Lana has previously said that she has been in " a whole lot of trouble" and that more than religious, she is very spiritual. I think that being "on the move" is his transition to the afterlife, AKA "the other side" something she talks about in Bel Air, Born To Die and Dark Paradise.

I think this is probably the most interesting, I did some researching about the significance of being westbound and this definitely explains the songs, supposed, title.

"Some Native Americans of the Southeast say that the souls of the dead dwell either in the heavens or in the west.
The west has often been associated with the afterlife of the spirits. Polynesian islanders locate their ancestral island in the west and believe that spirits of the dead can return there. The Celtic people pictured an otherworld that was sometimes underground or under the sea and sometimes an island in the west."

For some reason, I have this feeling K really was Lana's one true love and she's just waiting to die to see him in heaven ("scared you won't be waiting on the other side" etc.)
  3. Goddess liked a post in a topic by HeartshapedChevrolet in LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships
I'm not sure about Bel air, firstly, it implicates him being rich. Barrie dosen't seem very rich to me (gargoyles standing at your front gate) and the part about running like mad to heavens doors, seems to make me think it's about K (she wants to see him, to die like in dark paradise and be with him, she cant wait any longer) and i seem to think the "i wont be bad i wont cheat you no more" is in reference to the relationships she has had after K and as K was "her one true love" she feels as if the relationships she has had after K was almost like cheating on him, as she made it clear she didnt want to move on in dark paradise and that true love lasts forever blah blah blah

Also I believe that You&Me is about the same person that You can be the boss Daddy is about.. "got a light in your eyes i can see it" "a fire in your eyes no i saw it" I believe that many of her songs reference K despite who their supposed to be about, K definatley has ties to the beach, and Lana's time with K was heavily influenced by drugs.. Methamphetamines referencing the beach and cony island, as well as taking into account the title and the trippy "drugged up" feeling to the song

I think K has all the ties with the beach, while I believe her time with Jimmy was more so by the poolside "vulgar darling glistening by the swimming pool"

Also I think It is very possible for K to have had tatoos, being a drug dealer with possible mafia ties should mean he has atleast had jail time before, and jail time usually indicates a time when people get tattoos, as it's not uncommon for mafia/drug dealers to bd covered, Lana obviously has a thing for tattoos, so i find it unlikely she would date solely one guy with them,

Also doubt Jimmy could afford Lana Diamonds, while she was dating Jimmy she supposedly was go-go dancing and in and out of rehab, during that time, it's also speculated she met Jimmy in rehab, there wouldn't be much spare cash lying around, while K on the other hand comes across as a rich old drug dealer who will do anything for his baby doll..

I think You and me talks about her and K and there good memories together, how he made her feel and there love for one another, but the demise of the relationship, and this is either because of 1) K's age and deterioration 2) their drugs problems, the "try hard to remember.." means that there forgetting again maybe because K can't remember, doesn't care or everything is to hazy a drug filled which seems most likely

It sounds like a song she would be singing to him on his deathbed, how much she loved there relationship, how he should try hard to remember it and how inspired and in love he made her feel, but how draining and sick that the drugs made her and him and the toll that it took, that he should give heaven a try and rest because now that she's is leaving him coz "shes in love with a dying man" it's just him and the sun.

i think this song makes it clear that she still loves him and wants him to be happy but cannot deal? anymore.. idk
  4. Goddess liked a post in a topic by COLACNT in Do you think Lana has any psychiatric diagnoses?
I also vote for high functioning aspergers, if anything at all

I think she's an INFP (Myers-Briggs personality type). I've become interested in type theories because they always seem accurate for myself and for the people in my life. INFP's are quintessentially spacey, linguistically gifted, mellow, creative, etc. I recommend the test for those that haven't taken it

I = introversion (as opposed to extraversion); self explanatory
N = intuition (as opposed to sensing); head in the clouds vs. feet on the ground
F = feeling (as opposed to thinking); emotional vs. analytical
P= perceiving (as opposed to judging); unstructured vs. structured

coincidentally kurt cobain and david lynch have been widely speculated as INFPs as well. (I'm INTP, and my last boyfriend was INFP, so my obsession with her makes sense on multiple levels ahah). she could be INTP, which would explain her purported lack of emotion. people often think I'm a bit loopy in reality, so I wouldn't be surprised. i've learned that having an 'I' and an 'N' in your type basically means that you're fucking crazy anyway

I kinda have the feeling that Lana wants to be a Lolita. I don't think she necessarily was one. In her old homemade music videos she's still acting quite childish and cute because that's what she wants to be seen like.

She has this vision of a relationship in which she is the young, innocent little girlsand the man is an old, mean, strong bad guy. She wants to be a helpless little girl being saved by a strong, experienced man.

That's just my impression. But I think she's grown out of that since Barrie isn't that much older than her and she seems stronger and more confident now.

I have a theory that she writes every song (or at least some of them) about two different people. That would explain why nothing seems to fit together. Also, in Without You she sings "But burned into my brain all these stolen images / Can you picture it? Babe, that life we could've lived"

So I believe she's always singing about the life she wished she could've had with K but through the relationships she's having with other men.

Another theory I have is that she dated K before she went to boarding school, when she was around the age of 12. That would make the Lolita-references more logical (Lolita was about 12, or so I recall). Then when she was 14/15 he went to prison, she was sent to boarding school and at around 17/18 he was sentenced to death (For K Part 1). Then at 18 he died and she went to rehab, maybe after having a relapse and trying to kill herself?
    In BTD she sings:
"Feet don't fail me now / Take me to the finish line / Oh my heart it breaks every step that I take / But I'm hoping at the gates, they'll tell me that you're mine"
And in Dark Paradise "But I wish I was dead / Dead like you"
To me it sounds like she wants to join him in heaven which she also seem to sing about in Burning Desire:
"Drive fast, flash, everyone knows it,
I'm trying to get to you baby,
I'm feeling scared and you know it"

Hopefully all of that made some sense because I'm still confused

Also, I believe the guy that Radio is about might be the same guy she talks about in this interview.
She says she's staying with her ex in Williamsburg, so... does anyone know who that might be? It might not be the same guy Radio is about because the interview was in February, so again, the time line doesn't match up.

I'm also pretty sure Ride is about Barrie.

What if she continued with the Born to Die/ Paradise layout scheme, but just changed the background, her picture, and font color? I always thought it would be kind of cool if all of her stuff under the name Lana would kinda fit together visually like that.

They have so many followers on Twitter and Facebook, I don't understand how they could be a scam.

    Ultraviolence: The Purgatory Edition

I'd love to see something more psychedelic from Lana, and critics did say Paradise was just a continuation of BTD but I think they were completely different.

Anyone can edit Wikipedia pages but unless you can provide good sources backing up your statement it's deleted (as the fake song titles have been).

+ why is she on his lap, that's weird. she'll publicly flirt with anyone but barrie, poor guy
  16. Goddess liked a post in a topic by QueenofAlchemy in Summer Of Sam
Do you think she is actually saying 69 was like the Summer of Sam and the summer of Love?

So "like the summer of sam back in 69, we be heavenly..."  is like saying 'like Lee Harvey Oswald, back in 1865 John Wilkes Booth also killed a president' ?

For example: "Like the Summer of Sam back in 69" the zodiac killer was at large

Could "the Summer of Love back in 69" be referring to Lennon and Ono: the marriage, the Bed-ins, Give peace a Chance etc?

So dark it's almost unlistenable: Noir and Little Carmen

Mix that with its supposed beauty and I think we shouldn't expect Noir's screams but still some of the same daring approach, except in a studio setting with Emile's lushness. All I truly need from this description are layered harmonies.

I can't imagine it not being about her past again. Exploring the darker moments she's only touched on in her Lizzy Grant days, I hope.

I think the syntax is more like so:
I can, you can, we can do Can keep it all together   Rather than "do can" (whatever that is)

I doubt she's already working on another short film already, I mean TROPICO isn't even out yet. It's probably just some sort of word that's sparking inspiration in her mind. You know what would be really cool though? If it was some sort of literature project like a collection of poems she's written or something. I'm dying to read something Lana's written other than her music/monologues!

Would somebody be able to do this, like a remix with Lana's vocals and a Stairway to Heaven instrumental?
I'd really, really appreciate it! But I have no talent with this stuff.
Sorry if this was supposed to be in the request thread- I'm new here.

to all the people dragging me cos i hate lady gaga:

do you know what pretentious means?

lana doesn't claim to be the artist of the generation, or releasing albums of the generation either, she's just an artist, who makes art, who always did want to make art, her music is the same now as her demos just with better production. Gaga's music has gone generic as so that she can get into the charts, something i'm glad lana hasn't tried to do, she's one of the more different sounding artists out there (NOT electropop).

    on the sellout comment:

lana didn't sell out, like i said her music is the same as in her demo's but with better production because of her fame level now and who she gets to work with. changing how you look isn't selling out, i didn't mention how lady gaga looks once, all i did was talk about her fashion which was non-existant until laurie ann gibson decided to try and model her after madonna.

i haven't mentioned lady gaga fans anywhere so...i don't know why you're all saying all lana fans and gaga fans can't get on now, it's only the ones who accept an artist/singer as the Messiah that i can't talk to, it's delusion, she's a re-hash of everything that happened in the 80's :/
