Omg a Tori thread !! I discovered her last year and I literally fell in love with her she’s a fucking GENIUS Omg I’m so jealous T_T Tori has got to be one of the best performers of all time hands down her piano skills and voice + songwriting abilities and improv is just unmatched i really doubt we will see a resurgence of her first years but also do we really need one? We’ve got 6/7 albums of pure gold + endless b-sides, she’s already made history as much as she could, I don’t really blame her, she’s 30 years in her career, she’s well deserved a rest

Does anybody remember two alleged Electra Heart outtakes called All is Forgiven and Superhuman? I always thought they were fake but with all the never-heard-before tracks leaking from that era maybe there’s a chance they exist too i think she just lost that “spark” that drove her to music up until FROOT and you can see it in every aspect of her career. Her visuals aren’t as strong, her music isn’t as strong and the production is much more watered down, its as if she’s releasing music just cause she needs to eat (which I don’t blame her for)

I’m not a hater tho? Out of 5 projects Marina has released I love 4 with all my heart. How does that make me a hater? If this was a strict Love + Fear thread you would be right but it’s not, it’s a general Marina thread, and to this day I love her work more than I despise it

The problem with Love + Fear is not that the concept was poorly executed, it’s that the songs are bad. Like, Electra Heart, despite being visually stunning, still had a lot of flaws when it came to the concept: there is NO storyline aside from a song or two, the archetypes are very blurry, etc... but it’s a great record in that the songs are great and stand on their own, which makes all the flaws of the concept slide into the background cause they don’t need to carry the record, it carries itself. Love + Fear songs are bad, and even the best ones are underwhelming. No amount of concept behind it could’ve made it good. Concepts in and of themselves very rarely work out. Unless you’re pulling some Rosalia shit and doing a full fledged concept album with a story, characters and an actual ending, it’s just a way to tie the songs together. The Love/Fear thing was just a way to tie the songs together. Had they been good, we would’ve had no problem with the concept to begin with. But they’re bad, and we’re blaming the concept for it, even though it’s not particularly bad, just lazy IMO

L+F is a terrible album and that’s why it flopped. Like it’s definitely not her manager’s fault
