In V Magazine's "Best of the Best" issue (on newsstands September 18th), the sultry songstress (who was photographed by Steven Klein and styled by Mel Ottenberg) reveals to pal James Franco that interviews put her "in a bad f---ing mood."
 
"I really try and keep my world beautiful but it’s tricky," she says. "We’re at a point in time when life truly can be what you want it to be."
 
She also defends her music to the detractors who deem it negative or too melancholy. “First of all, when you’re writing a record alone, you don’t really think about the effect your music is going to have on other people. I’m not really the type of person to condone any behavior that would end up being harmful to anyone else but at the same time I’m not going to limit my lyrical content to things that don’t really relate to me or sing about things just because they rhyme.”

Same. I wish there were more. Also hoping for some more saxophone/jazz infused songs on the album.

I played TLY for my friend and work (even though he's told me many times that he doesn't really like Lana or her voice but thinks Video Games is "a solid song"), and he said that he actually thought it was pretty good.

I completely agree. I feel like there are very few true "concept albums" as it is generally defined and I don't think it necessarily makes them any better, it just can add to the experience I guess. 

Me. I Am Mariah would have been proud...
 
Re-listened to Honeymoon and the strings are gorgeous, too bad the track has no forward movement except in the bridge. Also the chorus... That's one UV artifact I wish she wouldn't have brought back.
 
Terrence Loves You is the most hilarious track name ever.
 
I am so excited for Salvatore, mostly for potential Lanalysis.    I always thought it was because she needed a name in Backfire and it had no significance other than ~mafia boo~, but here it is again.
 
I get this feeling that HM won't be a good Lanalysis album. Well, she does deserve her privacy.

Yeah for sure. I was so underwhelmed when the UV cover came out. I remember thinking "THIS CANNOT BE THE COVER" but now I love it and it's flawless. 
 
I love that it's kinda unexpected. Like it's so easy for Lana to take a gorgeous picture with beautiful flowers or whatever, but she went for something a little less obvious.  
 
I also love the new font.

I can imagine Honeymoon being received less well if it doesn't end up moving in an "edgier" or unexpected direction. That being said, I think the music has been great so far, and somewhat different for her.
 
I guess I would just say that I'd be shocked if it did critically worse than BTD and pleasantly surprised if it did better than UV.

I really feel like it will be. She talked about it in December (I think) and March, and seemed really excited about the idea and the visual.
