I;m glad UV is weeding all the BTD lovers out o the picture. I love BTD, prob still prefer it to UV in a way [we'll see over time though], but UV is an essential artistic and musical transition for her that has revealed the artist she really wants to be. I'm invested in her as an act who can shift and grow, i don;t care to compare or expect BTD ever again to her future work. 

THIS. I am so happy that UV is the perfect album to weed out all of the flower crown-wearing teeny bopper "fans."

Am I the only one who could easily heae a Chrisette Michelle or Ledisi sing " Sad Girl" ? It is so rich and soulful of a sound, and for me it hearkens to the days of Martha and the Vandellas, especially that little "well,well" Lana dings in the background of the "but you havent seen my man" pre-hook. Is Lana going to give us a narco- R and B albun next? Lol!

I have yet to listen to the entire album, for I will be purchasing it later today, but am I the only one who is getting absolute life from what I perceive to be an elegant, dark retelling of one woman's romantic life, psychosis, and trials? OMGoodness. I just cannot take it. I have only listened to "Cruel World" and "Sad Girl," outside of the promo singles because I just could not help myself, and I am caught up in a beautiful raging of feminine power. It is breezy, gloomy, gutta, and so delicately told, this story Lana is conveying. Work! **Snaps fingers three times for the mother**

It's nice but still waiting on one of those high production videos like BTD, Ride, or National Anthem.

how? she may have used special effects in the past, but they were never so obvious (i.e the alligator in blue jeans, etc) 
 
overt CGI is antithetical to the whole stripped back, retro aesthetic. its cheap and trashy, but not in a subversive, john waters type of way. its too in-your-face and it doesn't leave any room for analysis or nuance

Its not about album not being "happy". The critic was very fair and he was right about the album lacking "music levity". There is a reason why Brooklyn Baby is ultimate standout among the slow broody tracks. More tracks  like Brooklyn Baby (or even Florida Kilos) would only help the album.  There should be some clash song among Sad Girl, PWYC,MPG,FMWUTTP because listening these tracks in a row can be tiresome sometimes.
