  1. Do we have a masterpost of Lana's favourite musicians, books, movies and other stuff that inspires her? I know that the information's sprinkled in different interviews, but I would love to have a list for reference.
  2. I feel that a lot of people are gonna kill me for that, but... Recently, a lot of young people of all sexual orientations and gender identities wear beanie hats with "I wanna f*ck Lana Del Rey" slogan. While I don't mind that - it's their choice(isn't that awfully objectifying Lana, though?), I have to confess that I find Lana's sexbomb status a Memetic Mutation and Flanderization at best. I don't find her sexy at all. When she wears make-up and is styled(like in my avatar), she looks beautiful. Without make-up and in casual clothes, she's cute in a "girl next door" way. Different people have different tastes, I guess.
  3. Tori Amos - Tales of Librarian. Bought it because I really wanted to own her CD as a memento and it was dirt cheap. It's also pretty intresting and I love the cover.

    Emilie Autumn

I've missed her when she was in Poland this year and I don't even regret it... I love her shows, but FLAG songs are so-so and she doesn't sing any old stuff... sigh. At least if she comes next year, there will be Moth with her! I'm looking forward to seeing her flag dance. On another note, I've been listening a lot to songs from Opheliac today. It scares me how she has managed to capture the most painful feelings in her music and lyrics... she truly is brilliant - when she wants to be.

    Emilie Autumn

That's the point I was trying to make, actually....I'm afraid that it's quite possible, sadly. Emilie's been constantly referencing a movie version of TAFWVG and unless she has a huge fight with DFB, he's gonna direct the film. Wish that it was Burke. He seems like a much cooler guy and his video from FLAG tour fits Emilie's vision much more than TDC's aesthetics.
  6. I'm so looking forward to the video... Even though I'm not the biggest fan of Paradise, Tropico's probably going to be amazing.
  7. i tried to get into Marina very hard, but something about her just doesn't sit right with me.... such a shame, since I admire her creativity. At least I like to listen to Teen Idle from time to time.
  8. A completely new book in the Witcher series by Andrzej Sapkowski, titled Sezon burz ('Season of Storms'). I'm not really sure what I think of it, except that it's nice to have something new from the series along the amazing computer games.

    Emilie Autumn

I'm glad that I've found an Emilie Autumn thread here... I adore Opheliac and everything that came from the era - the EPs, Unlaced, Emilie's forum diary posts and interviews. I even enjoy The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls to some degree. I also like Enchant, even though the album is rather immature (quite few songs seem to be too "inspired" by other songs to be a coincidence). YSSU is perfect. The FLAG era is a major disappointment, even though the Moth crumpet is adorable. I'm really interested if Emilie's musical is truly going to be a thing, or just stay a wishful thinking...(or movie by Darren Lynn Bousman).
  11. When I've heard of her for the first time, I've assumed that she's just trying to cash on geeks... shame on me for so many reasons. Good thing that I've quickly realized my mistake (on many planes - especially the "fake geek girl" one!). I cringe whenever I think about it. I also used to think that I wouldn't be able to like Lana, because I barely listen to pop... Luckily, her sadcore has pleasantly surprised me.
  12. Sirens: no favourites, as I haven't managed to listen to the record yet... shame on me, I know. AKA Lana Del Ray: Mermaid Motel, Pawn Shop Blues, Put Me In a Movie. Born To Die: it's easier to say which songs I don't love, just like - Diet Mountain Dew, Radio, Carmen, Without You, Lolita, Lucky Ones(this one's really growing on me, though!). Unreleased: Velvet Crowbar, Go Go Dancer, You're Gonna Love Me, Hit and run, Live or Die, Black Beauty plus a lot of songs which escape my mind right now...
  13. I'm kind of worried about her next album, because I didn't like Paradise all that much when compared to Born To Die. The songs were nice, but they all sound kind of samey and it's hard for me to point at the best one. For some reason, my mind chooses to think about Cola and Gods and monsters as the same song. Ride is okay, but not that great...and so on. I like AFFA, but the repetition of the title is ridiculous. I found it beautiful when I heard it first time, but then I was like "Okay Lana, we get it: they were angels forever, forever angels... can we move on with the lyrics? Thanks". I feel like she hammers the point too hard into listener's head.
  14. Even though there's a huge chance that the theories probably are wrong, I absolutely love this thread. It was a very compelling read and it made me think about the person hiding behind the image of Lana Del Rey. I'm really fascinated by her Lizzy Grant years. Kudos to all the people who have shared their knowledge, interpretation of lyrics and ideas. This thread is the reason I joined this board and decided to stay on it(I know, haven't written at all till now - gonna change that!). I love smart, insightful fans.
  15. I'm sure that she intended both Black Beauty and AFFA... I hope that she's gonna use them anyway.
  16. Oh God, I feel your pain so much! I'm in exactly the same situation - I really wish that I went to the gig in the Warsaw, who knows when she's gonna visit us again. Too bad that I wasn't much of a fan when I still could have bought the tickets. I'm so envious of all the people who have been to Lana's gig.
