  1. I've seen this movie about two years ago, so of course I completely forgot about this scene. Amazing find! It always makes me happy when Twin Peaks is referenced.
  2. Oh, that's amazing! I love Twin Peaks. Now I really wanna get into Sky Ferreira more! Guess it's high time I listened to her record.
  3. Oh my God, I've been obsessed about Mark Ryden for years! It's no wonder she loves them, they mix pop-culture with religion, meat and general creepyness flawlessly. Not to mention the Jesus and baby blue in the painting...it's very Lana. (Side note: remember when Lady Gaga has been accused of riping Ryden off with the meat dress? )
  4. Yeah, I think it was coined by Micheal Hutchens? I posted a link to a urban dictionary page discussing the term
  5. OMG, I totally haven't expected to see someone else who likes those videos (at the same time)! I've read the Bowie biography and the two people in black clothes are actually from a popular back then gay club... it was in fashion to dress like those two (or it was their personal idea, but you get my drift). In the End is also very cool.. I love the imagery, it's straight out of some video game. However, I've just seen the video to Crawling and I think that I have a new favourite. How come I've never seen it before? The moment the ballerina and jewlery box flashed on screen I knew it's gonna be good. I love the message it gives, the powerful story of overcoming sexual trauma by the girl (of course it's my interpretation - the parts with the shower suggest it. The way the girl reacts to male touch also supports this), how Chester and Mike "interact" with each other (though I guess it's kind of cheesy), all the ice... (Not to mention that the girl is a total babe! Recovery symbolism aside, I prefer her in the gothic make-up ) This video is pure perfection. It's such a shame that it's only available in low quality.... Agree about worst videos. The Sky Ferreira video really makes me think of David Lynch, especially since the song has something vaguely Julee Cruise about it...
  6. I mentioned it elsewhere, but I really don't like Million Dollar Man. This song is so boring~
  7. I think that the the tying cherry knots part in Carmen can be another reference to Twin Peaks (the first one is Her mind's like a diamond) - Audrey Horne does the trick in order to get hired in exclusive brothel in order to push the investigation forward. It works extremely well.
  8. Kinda Outta Luck: Time to give in to the kindness of strangers. I saw this in the Lana's Inspirations thread and it's relevant Hope that it's okay to post it here - I didn't want to post this a something that I discovered!
  9. How could I have not thought of this? I actually love the Hole cover of this... I knew the diamond quote is from something. I'm a Twin Peaks fan forever. <3 The only tv series that I've seen twice.
  10. I agree with you about Dark Paradise. I don't think that she wants to do it, but it's still on her mind.... that's why I listed it. I've forgotten about Body Electric, thanks! Do you think that we should take the suicide blonde literally? It has a distinct meaning. I guess Lana could have meant both. She likes playing with words.
  11. I'm sorry, I have nothing productive to add... I just wanted to say that I love this topic so much! *follows* That's why I love this board - topics that add a whole lot to my understanding and appreciation of Lana's music. I knews some of those references, but other things are new.
  12. It's too late. You're going to go down in history as the creator of Illuminati!Lana thread.
  13. yes yes yes! it's one of Lana's most beautiful videos along with National Anthem. They beat Ride and all of Tropico hands down. Damn it, you made me want to binge on early Lana videos! Non-Lana Best videos IMHO: Placebo - Special Needs This video compliments the song really well and makes it even more touching and heartbreaking (how is it even possible? ). I love how it expresses endless longing in erotic, but not vulgar way. I highly recommend it to all those who love alt rock and Lana's lonely side. Linkin Park - Breaking the Habit This band has a lot of haters, but IDGAF. Breaking the Habit is one of their best songs, and the video is just perfect. Love the Kill Bill dirty animation style, the plot, the self-harm girl and the cool way in which the band members are being featured. Very emotionally gripping. David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes Do I have to say more? David Bowie at his best. AFI - Girl's not Grey They have a lot of cool videos, but this one gets high notes from me for creative and creepy usage of Alice in Wonderland and the Rei Ayanami clone ( ) character. Also, apparently the Wonderland exists in one of the band member's crotch??? AFI - Miss Murder LOVE LOVE LOVE the Yukio Mishima imagery. Also, Davey looks perfect. One of the most unforgettable videos by them~ The Birthday Massacre - Blue Creepy and mindfuckery video by one of the best synth rock bands. Madonna - Frozen I'm not even Madonna's stan and this rules. Love the song and the gothic imagery. Power of Goodbye is also cool. Britney Spears - Everytime Very touching. Love how it showcases Britney's vulnerable side. Tori Amos - Past the Mission I love the women-empowering message behind the video. Just watch it and find out! Hole - Violet One of the many reasons why Courtney Love is an absolute queen. I adore how emotional she gets - it's no surprise she is also an actress! The subversive girly aesthetics rule. It's interesting that the video is a predecessor to Emilie Autumn's Opheliac/Asylum world. It showcases all of her elements - sexual violence, slightly victorian world, etc. There are probably more videos, but those are atop from my head.
  14. I adore Marilyn Monroe too, she was such a fascinating person and extremely talented actress. it's such a shame that all some people see is her beauty and her 'dumb blonde' roles, mostly written by guys for guys' enjoyment. I think that it's very natural and in-character for Lana to love Marilyn.
  15. Thanks! I always thought that Jumps can be either about suicide or overdosing (or both at the same time), I wonder if there are more Lana songs that are about suicide? Of course Dark Paradise has a pretty strong suicidal vibe, but it's kind of obvious.
  16. I know, right? It makes me worried about those people. They believe that they know THE TRUTH, but they live in such a sad world... So do you believe that Lana is a victim of MK Ultra II and a sexual slave? The vision is so awful that I could never choose to believe in it, especially since there is no real proof, except for interpretation of facts - which differs. I love how most conspiracy theories are 'nobody has seen it happen, therefore it does'. (I'm not trying to pick on you, just asking ). Again, it's all interpretation which depends in which light you see the lyrics. It reminds me of a post on Emilie Autumn confession blog where someone has suspected that she's been a MK ULTRA II baby just because her (vaguely gothic) themes and style fits some of things that people connect with Monarch control... like MENTIONING black and white stripes, her being obsessed with Alice in Wonderland, etc. None of this was supposed to bring MK Ultra to mind, but readers can take from the book and music whatever they want.
  17. I wish that she would at least slip new versions of AKA songs like The Birthday Massacre has done with Nothing and Nowhere. Also, it would be amazing if she at least released an album with re-recorded versions of her best leaked/unreleased songs...
  18. You can't talk about Lana being one of Illuminati without paranoia-inducing tumblr posts like this one: CLICK Seriously, fearmongering posts like that take all the fun out of everything...
  19. Sorry if it's here somewhere and I missed it, but when did she say that Summertime Sadness is about suicide? I would love to read the quote... How many songs about suicide does she have?
  20. I don't think that MDM is all that amazing. It's not bad, but it leaves me kinda cold. I think that the lyrics are much more interesting than the slow, moody music. I'm not much into Lana singing that slow and moody....
  21. When early Tropico photos like those got released: it made me extremely happy that her body wasn't exactly perfect. It helped me just a tiny bit with my body image issues. It was nice to see a gorgeous gal like Lana with a bit more meat on her.
  22. I find it adorable how normal and approachable she appears in the photo.

    Hole

I'm so gonna watch her youtube channel. Wish that I could have done it on Valentine's Day, it would make the day a lot better. I can't wait for Died Blonde....

    Fan Fiction

Oh God, I adore this shitty fanfiction! It makes me laugh every time. Classic trollfic. I read fanfiction from time to time - mosly short darkfics to series which I love (I don't want to spend hours reading fanfiction when I can read legitimate novels, sorry - I'm just not that invested). I love fanfiction that creatively explores dark plot points of original material... like Bellatrix x Voldemort HP fiction, etc. I'm a sucker for good, psychological story. I'm not really interested in porn. i love how you write about Lana, I can feel how much you adore her!
