  1. You right now: Actually that's too generous. It'd have to be an airball to be analogous. Since what I wrote actually did go over your head, let me spell it out. You sarcastically wrote "#thatsourword" as if that's what people criticizing her word choice were saying. That's a gross oversimplification at best of what some of us are saying, a mischaracterization at worst. It's far more nuanced than that. And so I was saying your comment was an example of the thing you were complaining about, assuming you understand other's views when you maybe don't. Now I'm perfectly open to the possibility I may not have understood your sarcastic comment in precisely the way you meant. But I did not miss the sarcasm nor did I misinterpret it in anything remotely like the way you suggested. Again, yet another example of you doing the thing you were complaining about. Frankly, I can't even imagine how my post would even make sense if I misinterpreted your post the way you imagine I did. I don't get how that would make for a shot/chaser type situation. But if I were you I guess I'd be trigger happy to catch me out after that Jojo Rabbit murdering too. Oh, and don't call me sis, bro.
  2. It didn't. And I didn't think pointing out that your sarcastic portrayal of those you disagree with was itself an example of "those who believe they understand the political opinions of others[sic] fans" you were complaining about would go over anyone's head, but well, WHAT can ya do?
  3. I mean, if your defense of Lana is that her politics are no more garbage than the average person's, I don't disagree. The average person's politics are garbage. Freedom of expression is all well and good, but a mark of a good writer is understanding the connotations of the words you use within the larger milieu in which you find yourself. If a particular word choice unintentionally distracts from the point you're trying to make for a large number of your readers, that's a failure of communication, of writing, and of imagination. Shot: Chaser: BTW what cracks me up is people objecting to very basic textual analysis here that would occur in any university lit class and probably many high school ones.
  4. I want Bernie to win as much as anybody else, but electoral disinformation ain't cute. I want him to win fair and square. User has been warned for this post.
  5. The thing is, I don't think she has changed that much. And that's the problem. Lana's political thinking has always been garbage. I think the fanbase is more critical now because for a brief spell she showed signs that maybe her politics had evolved and those of us critical of her politics got our hopes up a bit, but she's shown that her politics are still garbage.
  6. Do we know when she wrote and/or recorded FMWUTTT or when she recorded "The Other Woman"? Edit: Or "Shades of Cool" or "Sad Girl"?
  7. Press-Republican articles this old are no longer live on their site and this article is not archived anywhere else that I could find. But a Press-Republican editor sent me a screenshot via Twitter of the same article with a different title from the next day's print edition:
  8. The "to live" version of the quote is from the play. Encouraging that the author of "born to die" chose this version of the quote. Incidentally my 3-year-old loves Peter Pan, or more specifically, Captain Hook. He loves running around the house telling everyone to "Walk the plank!" like a broken record. When he broke his leg right before Halloween we just incorporated a peg leg into his already planned costume. (Yeah, I know Captain Hook didn't have one but whatevs.) I just woke up and am in bed writing this on my phone just as he walked into my room with an armload of stuffed animals with the intention of cuddling up in mommy and daddy's bed. WALK THE PLANK LANA!
  9. In a 2011 interview she said she got the tattoo "five years ago": https://web.archive.org/web/20110925003525/http://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/entertainment/articles/2011-09/19/gq-music-lana-del-rey-video-games-interview/kinda-outta-luck LOL. No you did not, girl.
  10. Has anyone purchased this? https://www.publicmediamarket.org/collections/the-current/products/live-current-volume-8 Obviously we have the full session in mp3, but does anyone have "Video Games" from this in FLAC? Not specifically, but you might find these threads helpful: http://lanaboards.com/index.php?/topic/460-known-production-discography/ http://lanaboards.com/index.php?/topic/8449-lana-del-reys-discography-recording-dates/
  11. She's talking about The Cutting Room here. The Cutting Room was where Bob Leone hosted SHOF New Writer Showcases that Lana and Gaga performed at. According to Wikipedia, the venue is owned by Sex and the City's Mr. Big himself, actor Chris Noth, who met his wife while she worked there.
  12. Does anyone know a way to view a deleted tweet if you still have the URL?
  13. Thank you so much! Do we have good quality audio/video of all of these?
  14. Does anyone have a complete list of all the songs that aren't her own that she sang with guests on the NFR tour?
  15. C'mon, it's a little unfair to judge someone by everyone they follow. I mean, we follow Sean Larkin!
  16. Never give a cop your phone number. Christ, her managers have always been such assholes to fan sites.
  17. tfw you're so close to understanding white privilege and abusive policing
  18. Hey #Fuckstick, who exactly is "we" and who exactly is "you" in this post? Also, Tropico says hi. Edit: LOL. "Guns & Money" sounds like a Lana song title.
  19. There are a lot of examples where she and/or the interviewer has correctly stated her major was philosophy, but I thought this was notable to highlight given that it's from her own MySpace page and dates to when she was in college. Read the about section at the bottom:
  20. Yes! That's how I found all the tracks on AKA. (Also where I found an entire early album by a lesser known artist that almost nobody has.) I talk extensively about how I first got into Lana, Grooveshark, the early days of Lana fandom, and how I became more active in the fandom near the end of the last part of my Lana Del Reydio covers show podcast starting at about 20:17: #ShamelessPlug Edit: By the way, anyone else remember fuckyeahlanadelrey tumblr? In the early days, fuckyeahlanadelrey and spillitnow were really the only games in town. At least until LDR.FM launched. Me, every time I found a Lana track or even a nugget of information. It's such a satisfying feeling. Though I find her lyrics interesting, I wouldn't say I've ever related to them much or "felt so understood" by them. But otherwise, extremely relatable. New LFL Demo lyrics inspired this post, huh? Shoutout to a fellow old-timer. Oh damn, you're really old-school! In my sleuthing I've stumbled across blog posts from that time that posted Diet Mtn Dew, but I've met few people who can actually trace their introduction to her back that far. Respect. Because I can't resist a challenge... Anything else you remember about the song or artist or even an idea of what year it was?
