same here. been a fan for a decade now and i could never quite really understand what's so appealing about lizzy grant. sure, i like some songs from this era like brite lites, trash magic and disco (just realized i mentioned 2 outtakes instead of actual AKA tracks... oh well that should tell you enough how i feel about the album ) but idk i tried to see what's so special about this era in particular that a lot of people seem to love for years now but i'm ultimately failing at it. i don't get the appeal of this white trash trailer park hoe aesthetic either... i think you have to be born and raised north american to truly appreciate that and that's not my case, i just think it's trashy lol. i could never understand what makes lizzy so good, let alone BETTER than lana del rey. this is no shade to all the lizzy lipsters out there (truly, y'all are the sweetest on this website), but, quite frankly - and i talked about this in a very ~controversial~ status update before - i think what the fans really love about lizzy is the fact that she doesn't exist anymore. that this project will be forever unattainable, a glimpse of the past. so AKA will always be this little secret, a quirky easter egg in the big picture of lana del rey history; something palpable enough but something you could never have again. a similar feeling to grief, because lizzy is dead, artistically. but of course that's just my opinion

girl can't catch a break

i think descending sounds actually pitched down a bit so she would have a better fighting chance with the high notes but then the low notes at the start got really low for her so she decided to do it in a higher key instead of the usual low register of that verse

that's because it's not real lmao these are the real writers of Speed Drive: Charli XCX, EASYFUN, Busy Bee, Mad Cobra, Phat Fabe, Joakim Åhlund, Klas Åhlund, Patrik Arve, Sylvia Robinson, Troyton Rami, Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn Speed Drive itself samples 2 songs: Robyn's cover of Cobrastyle and Mickey by Toni Basil. Cobrastyle was written by Klas Åhlund, Joakim Åhlund, Patrik Arve, Mad Cobra, Phat Fabe, Troyton Rami, Busy Bee and Sylvia Robinson; while Mickey was written by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman. only charli and easyfun actually wrote speed drive

it's been like that with her for years now just look at the timeline: bros..... (2014 - 2019) - WE'RE BACK (downhill lullaby) - IT'S SO OVER (post-single silence) - WE'RE SO BACK (don't forget) - IT'S OVER (post-single silence) and now we're currently on the mixed state

i still think it's prisoner after all these years, when her verse starts it gives me such an euphoric feeling, that's real star power right there -
ngl i tried listening to if jesus was a rockstar between minute and coconuts as it is on the youtube playlist and it does make a nicer transition

working on something 4 the dolls... here's a little preview of WIP XCX WANNABE.mp3 (Krakenfiles.com) for whatever reason charli ai doesn't seem to know how to pronounce "ends" so i have no idea what to do actually 🤷♀️ i think imma give the ai raw vocals and then add autotune instead of giving it autotuned vocals like in the snippet it might sound better idk inst. cred goes to @LMAlejandro ofc

JID and newjeans too? damn that's crazy! lol -
she didn't say anything about the album itself to require actual listening to comment tho. i definitely don't think she was being mean-spirited in that comment. however, i don't think commenting on her peers' careers is the most appropriate thing to do, but we all know how charli can be ~opinionated~ at times. she acts and talk like a jobless twink sometimes, maybe it's from being around them too much and ur right 911 remix is THAT song

the random announcements she's so crazyyyy i love her
