  1. Funniest part is how 5/10 is Born to Die songs and they gave that album a 'D' when they reviewed it. Critics are a JOKE.
  2. This is so true... And the other replies were, too. Earth tones, for sure. Definitely brown.
  3. I love the Psych sweatshirt, but that's about it.
  4. I don't really get any red or green vibes from this album, but I definitely get blue, violet, yellow... Color girls weigh in.
  5. Her store always has weird logos that don't match the actual album art. It always cracks me up.
  6. I think Blue Banisters would have been a much better choice to perform than Arcadia. But I suppose Arcadia is more indicative of the album's "Take it or leave it" style and attitude, so...
  7. Remember when we were waiting on Chemtrails this time last year and manifesting an October album? Well, we got Chemtrails AND an October album. We are blessed, luvs. Luv u all.
  8. What a boring list. Although I knew as soon as I saw their avis at the top of the page we were in for some clownery.
  9. The funniest thing is that Lana's "wokeness" has always been half-baked, even on this album. I'm not shading her - I actually love that she owns her ~problematic~ qualities. The "BLM" line eventually gets eaten up by the "masks off!" vibe of Violets for Roses. So to critique her on "wokeness" in any way would be very weird. Although I'm not surprised reviewers would get lazy and resort to that, since Text Book is Track 1.
  10. This is beautiful. I agree with a lot of what you wrote - it's deliberately a complicated album, but there's a definite bittersweet resilience to it that I'm really struck by. She's basically saying "This is me, in all of my frustrating messiness and brilliance. Take it or leave it." It's Lana (or Elizabeth) taking inventory of who's still here, 10 years on, revisiting the past, evaluating the present, and making space for the future.
  11. We all know Sputnik Music will be crashing in with their 0/5 review when the MC score starts looking too good. It's dark but just a game.
  12. NFR! is honestly probably my favorite Lana album to this day, but that doesn't necessarily mean I think it's her best? It definitely is safe in some ways that Blue Banisters, for instance, isn't. If that makes sense. It's much easier for critics to drag her for what she's doing on Blue Banisters compared to NFR, in my opinion. She feels much more exposed on this new album to me.
  13. Exactly. Stereogum and their readers are examples of the "too cool indie dorks" I mentioned yesterday. NFR! is their *safe* album. The album it's okay to like by Lana. Anything else and they're outside their comfort zone... daring to have an opinion outside the hivemind. It's transparent, and honestly, hilarious. NFR! may be one of her best albums, but that doesn't mean she hasn't made music just as good since then (or even before).
  14. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/the-best-new-music-albums-records-singles-tpwn520g5 Can anyone get beyond this paywall? Lana's review is in this article, but I can't see it.
  15. I just feel like it’s obvious, regardless of how people feel about this choice or that choice, that Lana put a lot of thought into this album. I feel like the “messiness” or “scrappiness” of the album is totally deliberate, but maybe I just have my stan goggles on.
  16. I can’t @ people saying “phoned in!” when even if she scrapped the previously leaked songs she *chose* to add to the album, we’d still have 12 brand new songs.
  17. I unfollowed the Honeymoon account when it became inactive, so this whole Honeymoon IG revival has been deeply embarrassing to me as a stan.
  18. I love that she’s pushing the title track. Easily the least commercial song she’s ever released, but probably the most important song to the album. A lot of the “too cool” indie dorks on other forums were saying the song reminds them of modern day Nick Cave, and his more ambient-leaning music. Oddly enough, I think they’re right, and I think a lot of people new to her music might be really moved by this song.
  19. This “There’s always another album anyway, bitch” energy…
  20. Honestly, if this gets us Rock Candy Sweet, I’m here for it. But I definitely hate all her dumb twink stans and insiders who make up lies or try to spin opinion as fact.
