My “most cherished” pieces are probably just random rare stuff. Buckingham Nicks is definitely one of them. It’s a second pressing (1975 instead of 1973) and took me forever to find at a reasonable price. The Wind in the Willows (Debbie Harry’s first band/album) is another like that for that reason. And pretty much any album that’s out of print and not on streaming services feels like a treasure to me haha. All my Lana Del Rey albums for sure too though. I have 2-3 copies of each album (different versions) including AKA and Unreleased (bootleg but still important to me). Not as big as other people’s LDR collections but she’s the only artist I have multiple copies for, so they do mean a lot to me. Someday I’d like to separate them from everything else and give them their own shelf. In general, all my Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac and Joni Mitchell album collections are pretty precious to me too. They took a long time to collect and it’s all vintage (except for Rumours&Mirage oops). I have so many records that it’s hard for me to single it down to one most cherished record. Buckingham Nicks might really be it though.

Ok this might be a weird interpretation but I assumed she was supposed to represent Pamela Courson and the wedding dress represented how she always wanted to get married but Jim Morrison didn’t want to so she was like following him around and I assumed the oranges represented that she was from Orange, Cali. But idk there’s probably a better reason.

Idk that sounds like a pretty riveting experience... did you watch all her videos on acid? Which was the best? I feel like Shades of Cool or Body Electric would be spellbinding.

I was thinking maybe they were trying to make a clear statement that they’re pushing her as strictly an alternative artist now and not a pop star or something and sacrificed the chance for an actual pop hit for that statement. Maybe they’re pushing for an alternative Grammy nomination for this album and they have to draw a definite line between her and pop music for it (afterall, less competition in the alternative category than pop). Who knows. Or maybe even Lana doesn’t want it to be a bigger hit and wouldn’t let them send it to pop radio. She’s always been more elusive in her decisions.

If we do get videos for all (or most) songs on the album, do you think the witchy footage from the trailer (&UO cover) that Chuck filmed could be from (or outtakes from) the Bartender video? (Still haven’t listened to it, but have read the lyrics at least seventy-seven times) Also since MAC/VB don’t count, do you think there’s still a chance of getting the HIAB video?

I’m surprisingly not a discogs user (I usually stick to thrift shops and ebay) but I collect a lot. My guess is my oldest vinyl is probably Frank Sinatra’s Close to You (1957). Most of my 40s/50s stuff are reissues or compilations but that one’s vintage. The oldest one I’m actively looking for at the moment though is Surfin Safari (1962) because it’s the only 60s Beach Boys album I don’t have which makes me sad.

How funny would it be if we were all trying to figure out what song that video is for just to find out she’s already working on videos for her next album lol

We didn’t get the HIAB video though and Lana doesn’t count MAC and VB so we should expect something else from Chuck. I’m not saying we’re getting lots of music videos but this is the first time it actually looks like there’s a possibility. Usually it’s just us big fans that are aware of possible upcoming videos but she put it in the trailer this time so everyone knows. But yeah even if she does plan lots of videos and even films them, she does still have time to change her mind and scrap them.

Well if there’s no gatefold, it’ll be NFR and UV as the pair of double vinyls without gatefolds. But I’m still crossing my fingers for a gatefold for now.

Ohhhh lol sorry for misunderstanding. I assume there could be a wider version of that photo though with more of the California skyline behind her (maybe the man in the water reaching out for her lmao jk). That’s what I imagined when I said I hoped it was the gatefold.

Both Honeymoon and Lust for Life had a picture of her in the gatefold. The deluxe Born to Die did too. The deluxe Ultraviolence had the New York skyline instead. And the standard Born to Die, Paradise, and Ultraviolence don’t have a gatefold. So there is precedent for the landscape, but it’s been a photo of her more often.

I’d be throwing my money towards her if she released that instead. I already ordered 3 vinyls, but I’d order another without thinking if she did this. Omg what if that’s the gatefold pic on the vinyl?????? Please please please

Since we’re all doing it now: 1. Norman fucking Rockwell (probably) 2. Ultraviolence 3. Honeymoon 4. Paradise 5. Lust for Life 6. Aka Lizzy Grant 7. Born to Die But all her albums are amazing and better than any other artist so the ranking means nothing. Also I love how almost everyone’s rankings are different because it shows how each of us connect in different ways to her art.

I think Lana has great lyrics, and yeah, sometimes they can be a bit cringey but so is everyone else’s lyrics. If you overanalyze anyone’s lyrics, they seem silly. Even Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen have cringey lyrics often. Or like even read some Ginsberg poems or something. Everyone has cringey lines. They either create a feeling or don’t, and that’s all that matters.

I wasn’t trying fight you... I’m just a huge Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac fan and I just was clearing up any misunderstandings about her in regards to performing so we’re all on the same page. I just can’t help myself when anyone brings up Stevie.

Stevie Nicks always had both Fleetwood Mac and her solo career and both were at like the height when she was Lana’s age. She still didn’t tour as much as she does now. She even knows she tours more now because she when she’s not, she gets bored and starts aging faster. Also FM have done so many farewell tours and they've all admitted they’ll probably never stop and keep referring to their tours as the last one “just in case”.

Actually, I feel like it has more of a narrative than her other albums. It’s like her spiritual/political awakening. The first side she’s still kind of hung up on love, the second side is more her having fun and being cool which ends with her realizing the world is a mess, then the third side is her coming into that awakening seeing the world around her then goes into the fourth side of her trying to change and be better and finally ending in the death of ego almost. Idk it feels like a very linear story. But we all see different things in her albums.

I mean, I highly doubt Lana will be still touring at 71, but how much she tours now probably won’t determine how much she tours in a few decades. Stevie Nicks tours way more now than she did at Lana’s age.

I feel like when you listen to LFL on vinyl, it makes much more sense. It’s almost like it’s split into four little “suites” of songs that way. And the way each side opens works so nicely. And where the first disc ends and the second starts feels like the prefect break of act one and act two. Idk I think it flows nicely, especially since similar styled songs are grouped together and the transition between genres isn’t so jarring. Sorry, I know this belongs in the LFL thread but it felt like the time to say it.
