  1. Hoping for something that's a bit more experimental in a more mid-tempo or upbeat way. Also, something that is reflective of her current position in life. I know that she said she didn't feel the need to write so much about herself for HM, so I have a feeling that the next album will be the least personal yet. And I feel like if that's the case then the songs can get a little bit faster in tempo and a little more experimental.
  2. The Blackest Day is most likely about Barry IMO. His favorite color is black, etc. I honestly don't think she's so torn up about him in the long run, but when it was happening it might've been traumatic.
  3. I have a playlist on my iPhone "LDRS" - Lana Del Rey Sex: Hundred Dollar Bill (Demo) Beautiful Player Behind Closed Doors Driving in Cars with Boys In the Sun Butterflies (Part 2) Making Out (Version 2) - (the steady bass works together well with my pace around this time) Meet Me in the Pale Moonlight Playground Queen of Disaster
  4. Best: Blue Jeans Ride Summertime Sadness Shades of Cool The Blackest Day (Honorable mention: Queen of the Gas Station) Worst: Guns and Roses Brooklyn Baby Bel Air Body Electric Burning Desire
  5. Lana has said numerous times that HM is more closely tied to "the first two albums" and removed from last year's Ultraviolence. That being said, many in this forum feels as though it is sonically a followup to Ultraviolence. So to put it to a vote - how do you consider it and why?
  6. Came into my life at the right point in time, was able to express my feelings better than I could on some points I probably was a little bit more of a hopeless romantic bc of her to be honest.
  7. I've been trying to put together a good surf/surf noir playlist and this is what I have currently. Any suggestions? Surf 1. Hawaiian Tropic 2. In the Sun 3. National Anthem (Demo 2) 4. TV in Black & White 5. Blue Jeans 6. West Coast 7. Trash (Magic) (Demo - the one spliced together with The Man I Love) 8. Lolita (Grech Demo Mix) 9. Driving in Cars with Boys 10. Queen of the Gas Station 11. Every Man Gets His Wish 12. Kill Kill 13. Backfire 14. Shades of Cool Obviously not all of these are really "surf," but I also wanted to include some songs that I really enjoy listening to no matter what mood I'm in.
  8. Come on. It's totally about Taylor. The girl even has a minute and a half long monologue at the beginning of her video, which then ended up winning "Best Female Music Video" as well as being nominated for "Best Music Video" at the MTV awards. Taylor completely copied Lana's concept (save for the epilogue - Taylor's ended with the song), and she also used Lana's ex boyfriend. We know how attached Lana is to her men. While I'm not trying to stir shit, the connection is clearly there. It's stronger than any other connection people have tried to make - even the one incorporating Lady Gaga.
  9. I love men, too. They're my passion, and I love a bad boy who is dominant and loves me almost passively. That's why Lana's music clicked with me so well. But I'm gay, so... this viewpoint isn't threatening me in anyway re: the patriarchy
  10. I fuckin wish her hair was back to that color again
  11. Are we under the assumption that Jimmy Gnecco and Lana had a relationship again? I thought it was ruled out as "she was an obsessive fan and he was disinterested in her."
  12. Yeah, it is. I looked up on Amazon Japan and the physical edition doesn't have Flipside or This is Happiness, so it looks like both are iTunes specials. There are imported versions on amazon that I can order as well, but they don't have any tracklistings.
  13. I don't know. We don't have any physical music stores where I live that would carry her. The only place I found her was Tower Records in Tokyo... I'm moving to Tokyo in August but that won't help us now.
  14. I live in Japan and our bonus tracks include Is This Happiness and Flipside.
  15. I love this song. It sounds like one of her songs that would leak without actually getting a release - the songs we all wish she would release. This to me sounds like an evolution from Prom Song (Gone Wrong) in a way. Prom Song is written from the adolescent side of love while this is written from an experienced one - one that has dealt with heartbreak, loss, and trying to move on. I absolutely love it.
  16. "Baby I'm a forlorn on fire, and I'm what you desire" instead of "four alarm fire"... I thought forlorn worked because it's ~so Lana~ and I thought she was badass for making an adjective into a noun.
  17. I met someone who I was in love with for three years in New York City, and then after meeting and telling each other we loved each other, he ignored me for the remainder of the time I was in the city. Backfire had just leaked, and I happened to listen to it and download it and that became the anthem for the rest of my trip. I cried listening to it on repeat while riding the subway just to kill time until I went back home. So that song is immensely sad for me personally. Pawn Shop Blues also perfectly describes how I broke up with my last boyfriend, and I don't think I can listen to it without crying. I think it's beautiful but so many memories of that relationship is laced within it that I never listen to it.
