Perhaps, but the way she talked about how the song was originally written was deeply personal and about past relationships, so none of those people would make sense.

How is this happening? Can someone explain? I've seen things about HDD and Tidal, both of which I know nothing about. -

Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread

Lana did her lips again like last week, right? I feel like they look more like they did in 2011-2012 -
From what I can gather, there were people and men in Lana's life that were dealing and/or doing drugs. While there are some things that Lana has flatly denied as being fiction or a fascination with a certain group of people (i.e. Being pro-ana/pro-ana culture), drugs has never been one of those things. I believe that Lana never used anything more than casually or socially, and she was never an addict. Most likely she just indulged with whatever her boyfriend/friends had on hand. As for what was done, the only ones I can say with certainty (in my mind) are weed, heroin, and crystal meth. Whether she did all of these or not is debatable, but she was definitely around those drugs/people doing those drugs.

This thread is a train wreck. -
She said that she didn't want to create news headlines, so I can only imagine that one of the people referenced must've been Barrie. The entire song, even rewritten, sounds like it is written to the girl singing in Black Beauty. She got emotional talking about the "pop of color" in the lyrics "I keep my lips red", and we know how she said she was in a very dark time in her life back in 2012 - 2013, where she was desperate for even the slightest bit of color. I take the pre-chorus about her chasing rainbows to be in direct response to the Black Beauty line "Life is beautiful/But you don't have a clue", where I always considered it to mean she was trying to show Barrie how beautiful life could be. "There's no more chasing rainbows/and hoping for an end to them" > I've given up on the idea that helping you see the beauty in life will lead to us being happy together.

The first thing I would ask her would be the one question that I have had since 2012. Who is K?

I don't hate them but I always find myself skipping This Is What Makes Us Girls and Big Eyes.

My quick review after two listen throughs: Love - 6.5/10 Lana brought something unexpected with this track which was happiness and that makes it nice to listen to, but I don't think I will be coming back to it much Lust for Life - 7/10 It's sincerely a cute track. Not much depth but it's not trying to be deep. 13 Beaches - 8/10 When those beats kick in! Godly! Strings at the beginning I am uncertain. Cherry - 6.5/10 Perhaps just not my thing but I find it a little repetitive and there's a lot going on White Mustang - 7.5/10 A really solid track, quintessentially Lana. Could've been a bit more fleshed out. Summer Bummer - 8/10 I love A$AP and I love Lana and I love them singing together. A strong track, but I do wish there was either a rap or more singing on Lana's part - even speak-singing. Groupie Love - 7.5/10 It is a great song and while I love A$AP I am still iffy about his verse - it seems a bit too generic, like anyone could've written it. In My Feelings - 5/10 Not feeling it so much Coachella - 6/10 Not a terrible song, works quite good as an interlude or a transition. God Bless America - 8/10 Strong song, good message, and a nice beat. WTWWAWWKD - 8.5/10 Very strong vocals and music BPBP - 7.5/10 Their voices have a strange way of contrasting against each other starkly when singing separately but when singing together it is heavenly Tomorrow Never Came - 9/10 It's made me cry last night it's made me cry this morning. Personal wishes, like wanting more tropical sounding Lana, push this one to the top for me. I just wish they had one more "Hey, Lady-lay" bit after the bridge and it would've been a 10. Heroin - 7/10 I don't know how to feel about it quite yet, but I like the story inside it. Change - 5/10 I know some critics were saying it's a strong song, but it was a little too stark and bare. I don't think I like Lana over a solo piano. Get Free - 9/10 It sounds so Lana and yet like she has grown so much from the woman who released BTD 5 years ago. The direct reference to Ride especially pleases me as that is one of my top songs. Individual songs averaged - 7.5/10 As an album I would give it an 8 or 8.5/10!

I already said it 3 other times on the site but I cried at Tomorrow Never Came. I was so worried when I heard the snippet that it was just going to be that small part that sounded tropical, but it turned out to be the entire song. I've wanted something that sounds like I was on the beach in Key West for so long from Lana, she used to do so much, and I was just so overwhelmed by the entirety of it. I didn't cry for any other song but DAMN that album is good.

Where Are You Going to Listen to Lust For Life?
SwayTokyo replied to Make me your Dream Life's topic in Lana Thoughts
The only Lana albums I've listened to in Florida straight through have been BTD and Paradise! Everything after that I was in Japan. I can tell you however that Lana's unreleased sounds fantastic driving along the Florida beach in the summer. That is one of the reasons why summer 2013 was truly a legendary two months, because I did that every single day. 95% of what I listen to at the gym is Lana, and it's been that way since 2012 -
Where Are You Going to Listen to Lust For Life?
SwayTokyo replied to Make me your Dream Life's topic in Lana Thoughts
My first listen will be tomorrow morning before I head to the gym and the airport. I'll just lay on my bed for an hour listening to it straight through. Then I'll be listening to it on the airplane to Florida. The next time I anticipate listening to it straight through will be my last day in Florida, next Friday. I'm planning to get up early with the sunrise and listen to it alone on the beach. -
Born To Die is an okay album though. Critics were too harsh at first judging it because most thought she was a phony, but even when the lyricism and melodies are taken into account, it still does not dismiss the fact that the album as a whole is way too heavy-handed in production - which was ultimately what one of the biggest complaints by critics about it. So yeah while critics now look back on the BTD songs and see them as everything we expect Lana to be (in a positive way), they still aren't going to look back and praise it as her best work. I'm shooting for a 74 for LFL.

I can't wait to listen! Friday cannot come soon enough.
-
Yeah this thread should be locked now that it's leaked IMO. There is nothing to stop people discussing it at this point.
-
I'll be flying on a plane to the US the day the album comes out - but I'll have downloaded it from iTunes by the time I get on the plane. Listening to it on repeat for the 16 hours!
-
Honestly the lack of respect for Elle, Lana, the album, and LB is so pathetic. Are you guys 12? Are your lives so mundane that you cannot be patient? I was half-joking before, but to see how rabidly disrespectful some of you are is gross.

Please stop asking for leaks!!!!!!!!!! Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I should finally post my nudes in this thread Anyway why would you wanna listen to the leak. I'm actually going to the states on Friday and will be landing at LAX at 9 am with a 6 hour layover, so you can bet I'm going to buy the CD and listen to it in a rental car while eating In n Out.
