  1. The title song Ultraviolence reminds me of Born To Die in some ways. I mean, it's different of course, but it's a rather "violent theme" (obvious) and the violence and rythm and everything just seemed born to die - ish for me ^^
  2. I'd be ok with this if there were only two tracks on it, so ...
  3. this is what I was referring to: it will- I already asked it's from the ITH thread
  4. Well, I know that ITH is Itunes, but someone said that he/she asked FNAC if it's on the boxset and posted that it was that way if I'm not wrong ...
  5. That#s exactly what I mean Same here, itunes or amazon, or ... I don't care. well, seems like it's gonna end up like this if there really will be two more target-exclusive-tracks. I just - well - maybe wanted to be a little bit, well ... like, you know .. buy it cause i am really looking forward to the album. Don't know what came over me there
  6. well, idc so hard tbh what you think. when I preorder a cd I want to get the complete album, that's what bothers me. cause i know I am not going to be able to relax until I have every track aviable. well, even tough burning desire fits for paradise in my opinion, I get what you say. to clarify, my main concern is that I am not going to get all the tracks as long as we will be able to get the songs later too (in a legal way) without buying the album twice, maybe because she releases them as a download a few months later I am fine. Hm, the title sounds like you could really do interesting things with it. Like "things look different on the flipside" or something like that ...
  7. Thunder Revenant

    Song vs. Song

    Blue Jeans vs Body Electric
  8. it's not a 16 track album. And it's not exciting to know that even if u preorder a deluxe version, you don't get all the music. But yeah, I don't want to kill anyones happiness, I just don't think it's "yeah a new track we all get for the album!" but more of just another song you have to get extra.
  9. Yah, really amazing that the day the preorderd cd arrives I will still have to buy tracks and burn my own CD again to have a complete UV. Why can't she just put them on the basic album?
  10. I'd prefer to have one complete album instead of many tracks which are spread all over the place.
  11. This kind of things really ruin anticipation for me.
  12. Yeah, instead of releasing one complete Ultraviolence to us, she just spreads exclusive bonus tracks all over the place. Nope, I don't like that. I am happy for every new song, but why can't she just release them all together? I was ok with one bonus track for Itunes, you can just download there it and that's it. Now there is another one, which is NOT on Itunes, which means we all have to buy this version or download it illegaly. I like it that she's releasing lots of songs, but why in this messy, stupid way?
  13. Question of taste. I really love Burning Desire,. Well, if it's itunes exclusive, this ensures that more people will buy the album on Itunes or ATLEAST a lot of people will buy "This Is Happiness". Well, at least we all can access Burning Desire and This is Happiness via itunes, and are not bound to get a preorderversion-or-never-have-the-song (legally). Still, I would have prefered it to be (at least) on the limited physical album versions.
  14. Would make sense if you conisder the lines "I can hear violins" or "I can hear sirens"
  15. She posted a snippet of the studio version on Facebook, featuring some outtakes from West Coast as well as some new scenes, one is her sitting on a smoky area, wearing the red dress she has in the West Coast fire scenes. Deifinitly sounds nice, but the live version seems to be very accurate, as the snippet sounds very similar to it.
  16. We kind of have an idea of what Black Beauty will sound like, too. I mean, it was just the demo, but with UV we also "just" know how it sounds live.
  17. Well, Ultraviolence seems to contain lyrics or parts/themes of lyrics from some of Lana's unreleased songs. Hundred Dollar Bill (featuring the violent relationship, the world ultraviolence and Jim), Driving In Cars With boys (the nickname-topic, especially the Poison Ivy one), Ghetto Baby ("crying tears of gold"),the jazz-singer thing which is also mentioned in Dum Dum as well as the "hit me and it felt like a kiss"-reference from Beautiful Player. So yeah, it's not an old song but she definitely considered topics she already sang about in unreleased songs, from which some of them are old. I don't think UV is about Barrie, I mean, just because she writes the songs and says she uses personal experiences in them, not everything has to be literally this way. Artistic freedom and everything, you know what I mean?
  18. Yeah, I hope so too. It definetly has some potential. Reading can save lives. I said that i assume that the jimmy Lana keeps on singing about is a fictional person which is based on a real person and has aspects of his personality.
  19. I guess al songs mentioning a "Jimmy" are about a fictional character, who has his roots in a former lover of Lana. Most likely there is a lot she makes up, so the songs are interesting. I think all the Jim-songs are indeed about the same Jimmy, bu well - it's kind of a fictional character she likes to use cause his "gangster"-style fits into the stories she wants to tell.
  20. I guess it's a question of taste. Everything from Born To Die and Paradise had a more or less common sound and atmosphere. Kind of like between the "Upper Class Vintage Beauty Queen", the "Trailerpark Darling" and the "wasted, motorcycle riding bikerbabe". Ultraviolence sounds really different, toned down and with it's very own atmosphere. Also, they music we heard so far seems to be arranged in a different way compared to BtD. That means, if someone loved BtD, he is not necessarily a fan of the UV-sound.
  21. I like the lyrics, I like the topics used (well, really seems like a 'new' version of HDB in some ways) and I like that this one sounds like it could be a "sonical brother" to Born To Die, you know, the way she sings and the instumental also has elements you could compare. I also like that this is kind of a straightforward song unlike West Coast and Shades of Cool. Even tough I like these two, it's nice to see that there are songs on UV besides Black Beauty and the West Coast Radio Mix that do not have big differences between chorus and verse. However, i also can not say that this one really "hit me and it felt like a kiss" like for example Body Electric did when she performed it for the first time. It's - well, it's a typical lanasong and there is nothing really bad about it, but judging from the live version this may not be my all-time-favourite song from the album.
  22. Ok, it wont be on the amazon ltd. deluxe edition. This one "just" features the WC Radio Mix as it seems. I'm kinda pissed, I mean, now I have to download it from Itunes and burn a cd to have a "complete" UV and the "original" one in my shelf will always miss a track, like it is with the Paradise Edition. Well, at least a new song I guess.
  23. Hope it's gonna be on the CDs which feature a "bonus track". And I donät think there are other "exclusive songs". Just TIH and the radio version of WC as options.
