Flipside is a great song. the guitars remind me of "The Yeah Yeah Yeahs" album "Fever To Tell" Listening to the "ful UV" with 16 tracks feels more complete than listening to the 11, 14 or 15 track versions. Now it feels complete, like a completely told story, as it was with 15track Born To Die and 9track Paradise.

This was the red-dress scene from the WC video, only the Instagramvideo was B&W and the white wall was replaced with the burning palms and flames.

Old Money - it's not actually a very sad song, but listening to the lyrics about her talking about fading youth and everything ,,, really makes me sad. Pretty When You Cry is also veeery depressing and somehow I always consider Body Electric as a very sad song. Idc what the "official" interpretation is, but for me it's like she describes being alone. And I also find Is This happiness kind of depressing.

Well I guess it's kind of unfair, cause i really like Nina's version and everything but ... Lana just slays.

I like how personal Old money is when you look at the lyrics. Like, she remembers someone she knew and seemingly loved when she was young, most likely because his parents were as rich as hers. Now they are both older, he's not interested in her anymore while she still has feelings for him. And there are lots of remarks about her being kind of afraid of aging. And all this compared with a melody from a Romeo and Juliet theme as well as old lyrics from her. Wow. Also, this song still sounds very BtD-ish, like she's not playing a role but still does what she really feels like.

I love everything about Born To Die and Paradise - the trip hop beats, the heavy violens, the voices which are used as instruments, this tiny little snarring-sound which is often used, the glamour, the personas of the vintage upper class beauty queen, the softdrink drinking, drug addicted trailerpark lolita and the motorbike riding pole dancer chasing the american dream. I also like UV a lot, the sound of it is more chilled and relaxing, I like the rock-take on and the e-guitars,I like the "narcotic swing". But somehow, when i listen to BTD and Paradise, I have a very satisfied feeling. Even tough they are not super-story-telling, they feel like a complete thing. With UV i have the feeling of getting a look on some kind of situation and atmosphere, but it ends as fast as it started, although the tracklist is longer and there are longer songs. But maybe that's the reason: some of the songs are very long while others are very short, or at least appear short in comparison to the long ones. When i listen to Cola, at the end of the song I feel like i just listend to my fav paradise-Track. When I listen to PWYC, I feel like i want more to come. On UV i always have the feeling that, by being more experimental, she did less work on the lyrics and concept of the tracks. So in the end I like both albums, with a slight preference for BtD and Paradise, but I guess this could change because I only heard UV twice as a complete album But like someone said above, BtD made me a fan, I'm not sure if i would be adoring her so much if her first one was UV. But I really look forward to driving to UV, I loved it with Paradise too (BtD was not the best driving music in my opinion) and UV seems like it's really good for this.

Favorite/Least Favorite Track From Ultraviolence?
Thunder Revenant replied to Lum's topic in Lana Thoughts
Hard to say, I love many songs on this album. But I guess my fav is PWUC and my least favourite song is CW. PWYC is such a nice song sonically and lyrically. I already knew I would like it when I heard the snippets and now I really love it. The verses sound so hurt and fragile. CW is .. well a nice intro and the guitars are good and everything. But I think it's too long and doesn't have much to offer for me. The lyrics aren't my piece of cake and sonically it's a little bit boring with the time as the chorus isn't really that "chaotic". Don't know, I would have prefered it if she would have saved some minutes from this track and put it into FMWUTTT. -
1. Cruel World Nice Intro, nice song but .. well, I think it's my least favourite song. 2. Ultraviolence Catchy song, I really like it but it won't be my all-time-fav (it was similar with Born To Die) and I could see this as a good single. 3. Shades Of Cool Great song, love the james Bond vibes with he the Flowerchild-chorus. 4. Brooklyn Baby Heavenly! One of my favourite songs, I love everything about it. 5. West Coast Very good summer song, had to grow on me but i really love it now. (however, I still prefer the german radio mix a little bit) 6. Sad Girl Nice song, has some jazzy vibes. 7. Money Power Glory Could see this one as a single too, good song but I whished they would have added a better bridge. 8. Pretty When You Cry The best song on this album in my opinion so far. 9. Fucked My Way Up To The Top Sounds good, I kind of like the lyrics but .. well, stillseems like a snippet to me. More lyrics would have been better. 10. Old Money Beautiful song. I dont know, it's not one of my all-time-favourites but it's definitly one of her best songs. Kind of weird how I feel about it 11. The Other Woman Very good cover, really has some kind of black-and-white-movie feeling attached to it. 12. Black Beauty Loved the demo, love the album version. 13. Guns And Roses A nice song, but not the most interesting one. 14. Florida Kilos Doesn't fit the overal mood of the album, still one of my favourites. It gives me Lizzy Grant- vibes and I kind of think that there are lots of Yayo-references in there. In general, I can say I am very satisfied and I am sure the songs will keep on growing on me much more. But I also feel like the sound of UV is less varied than the one from Born To Die and Paradise. I guess it won't take Paradise's spot as my favourite Lana album, but it's nice to have it. I am really excited about how Is This Happiness and Flipside will sound. ITH could be a song with a "typical Ultraviolence- sound" while Flipside could be something very different .. We'll see.

Florida Kilos, Black Beauty, FMWUTTT and MPG .. I promised myself not to listen to anything else, but I really don't need to. CAUSE FLORIDA KILOS REALLY GIVES ME AN EARGASM! Now I can patiently wait for CW, ITH, SG, PWUC, FS, OM, GAR and TOW -

"You say that you wanna go To the land that's far away How are we supposed to get there With the way that we're living today You talk lots about God - Freedom comes from the call. But that's not what this Bitch wants No that's not what I want at all. I want Money, Power, Glory I want Money, and all your Power, all your Glory Hallelujah, I wanna take you for all that you've got." seem to be the MPG lyrics from the first verse -

But I kind of hate these attention seekers. I mean if you don't want to leak the album I can understand it. But then you should shut your mouth instead of thumbing our noses by posting pictures of your CD and wannabe-"I'm such a good boy, support LDR!"-posts. I bet that there will be "OMG song XY is so good, y'all gonna love it!" posts too -.- -
