^ I wish there was a sassy Lana comment ....

Hm, I guess i have to "divide" this into the different "classes" of songs we have from her. Leaked Unreleased Stuff: I guess my favourites here are Heavy Hitter, You Can Be The Boss, Kinda Out Of Luck, Hundred Dollar Bill and She's Not Me. That are quite a lot, but there are, infact, a lot of unreleased songs. I like many of them (I also don't like many of them) but these ones are my favs, as they were also some of the first Lana songs i heard (when VG hit the radio, I started to stan her and digged up the AKA album as well as the LolitaDemo and the unreleased songs above, so they kind of are my nostalgic favs). I really whish she would record an album/EP with some songs in the style of Heavy Hitter and YCBTB. May Jailer - Sirens: I frankly don't like this album alot, there are some nice lyrics on it, like My Momma or Next To Me, but the only song I really like and listen to casually is "A Star For Nick". I love the lyrics, the concept of the track and the way she sings/plays the guitar. Lizzy Grant AKA Lana Del Ray Tough one, like I already mentioned I listened to this album even before BtD (I'm a broooklyn hiiiiipsteeer! ) and I like the whole album alot. My all-time-favs are Gramma (it kind of makes me sad and happy at the same time, the lyrics, the instrumental, the overal mood ...) and Mermaid motel (I like how it's so unique and unusual for her in it's style. I like the feeling and .. everything about it). Born To Die Hard one here, like with AKA I'm gonna have to chose two, and I also can't say that there is one song on this record iI don't like (Radio and Lucky Ones aren't my alll-time favourites, but i still would prefer them over alot of what is played on the radio). Blue Jeans, it's just such a perfect song - the guitar, the concept the chorus, her voice. everything. And National Anthem, this one was a grower but in the end it landed on my top 5. I like the strings, the fireworks, the lyrics, the instrumental in general and this kind-of different way she sings along to the hip-hop beat. Paradise My favourite "album" so far. I like every song on it, so I'm only gonna pick one fav here, because it stands out the most (and I love all the others too <3). It's Cola. the instrumental, this heavy-string intro, the way she sings (especially the deep notes with the vinyl-feeling during the verse) - and I also like the lyrics. I like this slightly provocating Cola thing, it's funny without ridiculing the song. I like the sugardaddy-topic (especially the "I knwo your wife and she wouldn't mind" part). And I began to drink Pepsi since that song's out, even though I don't really like it, too sweet for my taste, even for a softdrink. Ultraviolence Hard to say, because it's not out for so long. Preferences change, some song which I loved at the first listen are now not that-fav anymore becaus eI just listened too much to them and so on. Got to name 3 here: Pretty When I Cry, it's such a beautiful song, but I just have to stop listening to it for a while to feel it#s atmosphere again. After 300001425 listens, it just isn't that strong anymore xD Brooklyn Baby, it's a wonderful song. Nuff said. And - unexpected - West Coast. it was a huge grower and I didn't liked the rob orton Mix at first. the I loved the Germand Radio Mix. Then the RO Mix started to grew on me, but i didn't liked the album version and so on ... but now, I love all versions of it and even though it's the first single, I'm not tired of listening to it. I love the feeling and atmosphere, i love the verses, the chorus ... everything. I listen to it in the car, while getting ready for a party and when I sunbath with friends. Wouldn't have expected this in the first place, but now it's like that and that's the way it is ...

Ultraviolence in light of Lana's Breakup

Pretty When You Cry is unlikely, if he didn't take drugs. -
I agree with the Paradise > all thing

Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
Thunder Revenant replied to Monicker's topic in Lana Thoughts
I only know about Bobby Womack's death, not sure if it was the day before or the day she performed. But theay recorded a song together and seemed to get along. Does anyone know the font she used in the Body Electric backdrop during the Paradise tour for the words "psalm 51" and "my love" (don't know if i remember this one right)? -

Thunder Revenant replied to FormerLanaFan's topic in Shows
Yeah, I realy like that. Maybe HW will be on an EP or it will be some kind of live song during the UV tour which will never be on any album. I remember her playing You Can Be The Boss in some of her first post-BtD shows too ... -
Lolita: "Look at what i've got, not a second thought of romeo" Still sounds better to me than the actual lyrics xD Diet Mountain Dew: instead of "There in this white pontiac heaven" I heard"chases feel to me like heaven" ... Cola: "Hollywood, he's doing party with his pretty baby" Gods & Monsters "Monitor, squeeze squeeze" .. Now that I know the lyrics I can hear the "sprees" but I still hear "Monitor" ... Bel Air Brigde: "I don't have roses, I can't exhaust, I know the way" instead of this "idol of roses, iconic soul, I know your name"

Hm .. good concert. However, compared to the Paris performance this lacks passion and it kind of seems like she's sulky or something. If she really broke up with Barrie, that's not really a suprise and understandable. Still, she sings beautiful, I just whished some backgroundvocals were less dominant (especially during Blue Jeans) and they had live-strings, would make Body Electric even more special (even the sulky live version with the dominant backing vocals has more passion than the studio version ...). And what's up with the screeen? During the paradise tour, the clips really enhanced the atmosphere alot. Now there are some grids and a low quality version of the WC video .. hm. -
Ultraviolence in light of Lana's Breakup
Thunder Revenant replied to timinmass101's topic in Lana Thoughts
Is This Happiness and Flipside seem to be about this topic ... ITH is kind of the story about two writing artists, who break up cause they don't get along anymore. Also, there are a lot of FS has this "maybe we'll try it later again" topic, which fits some of her statements about the "currently not together". For the rest of the songs, I don't really think they are about the break-up- they may mention one, but I don't think it's about the ending relationship with Barrie. I don't think EVERYTHING she does is completely autobiographic, in the end there could be things/feelings from her past as well as fictional stories she wants to tell. Black Beauty in general could be about Barrie, but since it was written when they were still together, I don't think it's about a break up - reason. -
I was on a Gossip concert once and it was a really comfortable one cause the band was so funny and friendly, mainly because they acted natural. They are used to be on stage and seem to feel comfortable. Lana is , compared to them, a newbie and more nervous. Still she doesn't pretend anything in order to appear natural in a way she isn't. She is a little bit shy but still a really friendly person towards her fans. I'm not the biggest fan of the first-row-exclusive-things, but it's something she likes to do and ... well would be hard for her to geth through the whole audience, if you consider all those fans who seem to forget that there is something like a personal distance, even if you admire a singer and even if she acts nicely. Lana seems a little bit awkward sometimes, but that's something really relatable and not anything I would blame her for.

Rank UV tracks from least to best.....
Thunder Revenant replied to 50ShadesofCool's topic in Lana Thoughts
I would not consider this songs as bad ones, if I'm in the right modd, I like to listen to them, but they are my least favourites from the album and the ones I most likely skip. 16. Cruel World (way overrated in my opinion it's the same thing over and over again, could also have been 4 minutes long without much loss) 15. Guns And Roses (good lyrics, but boring beat and chorus) 14. Old Money --------------------------------------------- These are songs I like, but compared to the rest of the albums they are more "behind". 13. Sad Girl (great verse, prechorus and bridge, but the chorus ... meh) 12.The Other Woman 11. Is This Happiness 10. Flipside 09. F*cked My Way up To The Top (if it was a few minutes longer and featured more lyrics, it would definitly be a lot more ahead) ----------------------------------------------------------------- Good songs which I heavily associate with the album and when I hear them, I really just feel good. 08 Black Beauty 07 Ultraviolence 06 Shades Of Cool 05 Florida Kilos ------------------------------ My favs 04 West Coast (grower, if the high notes and breathing sounds in the backgroundvocals during the chrous would still be more dominant, as they were in the Rob Orton Mix, it would be place 3 or 2) 03 Money Power Glory 02 Brooklyn Baby 01 Pretty When You Cry -
This directors cut strenghtens the "Mark kills Lana and is haunted by her ghost" interpretation heavily in my eyes ...

Well, one of the latest interwievs hat this picture of her sitting in the car with a yellow dress ... you know, the scene from the first BJ video. And another one also had a picture from 2012, even if it wasn't used. And this two pictures really lookes nothing like UV 8you know, super-strawberry-blonde-hair and Trailer park Baby/ Vinatge Beauty Queen attire) .But even though this picture is an old one it kind of fits her look (slightly nrighter haircolour) and the mood of the album right now, so it#s not that bad.

Lana Del Rey Speaks About Next Record, "Music to Watch Boys To"
Thunder Revenant replied to Linethic's topic in New Releases
Maybe a Joke. Maybe it will get scrapped. or maybe there will be an EP like it was with Paradise. The last case would be the greatest one tho ^^ -
Money Power Glory. Sounds radio friendly, nice beats, cool lyrics, a good chorus and bridge ... I guess the intro part would be cut and maybe(!) the bitch would be left out Pretty When You Cry could also work.out And Cruel World ... maybe this happens in the future, the song wouldn't feel incomplete if some parts would be cut out since lots of the lyrics are just repetitions with slightly changed lyrics. however, in my eyes the song is overrated and i don't know if it would be the biggest radio-success. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Brooklyn Baby is too long, and I don't wanna see it being cut into pieces. The only option I see for this song would be a completely rerecorded version, like it was with West Coast in Germany. Black Beauty, Flipside and Florida Kilos would have been good ones too, but they are bonus songs so I don't expect them to be singles. F*CKED MY WAY UP TO THE TOP ... well, it sounds radio friendly but 1. the lyrics may be too controversial and I somehow always feel like this track lacks something .. a little bit more lyrics or something like this.

Why aren't there more votes for Afraid?!? i mean, it's such a boring song, lyrically and sonically ^^ The same with Prom Song, it sounds demo-ish and I consider it as a really boring and one of her less creative songs. And the songs which have variety, like "She's not me" or "St. Tropez", which may not be her best ones but at least not "the same style all over again" have so many votes?!? And then, the most important question ... WHERE IS HEAVY HITTER?!?!?!?!?!
-
So it's already aviable for purchase?!?
-
Yeah they did
-
that's all that I am
-
No I was obviously joking xD Still, the "you call me your mama" line would appear completely different by then
-
imagine the plottwist ....
-
I wouln not judge it in any way, but I would just not expect it and .. well, life's not just about having a partner in the end
-
From what she said it seems more like it could possibly be a "pause" during their relationship. Maybe they'll break up finally, maybe they will be together again. But I don't think she's the "byehi" type.
-
Lana says she is currently not together with Barrie. And everyone in the forum freaks out because of every man that gets involved with her. Don't you think that she wouldn't just take the next man after breaking up with her longtime boyfriend? Btw what she said about the break-up somehow fit the lyrics of "Is This Happiness" and "Flipside" ...
