The Source Family, Ultraviolence & Lana Del Rey
Thunder Revenant replied to Lanakai's topic in Lana Thoughts
Connections? I think you are reaching. Maybe one could relate the songs to the family and you can interpret them like this but thete is no connection. All "connections" in this thread are, that people started to interpret UV with the source family in their minds. You could easily interpret it as a Batman inspired album if you really intended to. You can always find connections if you want. She mentions linen and curls. Nothing which makes you think of the SF in the first place. If you know them, you can make the connection but you could easily connection to any other sect where women wear clothes like this. Or maybe to non-cult women. and then those nicknames .... something Lana already used in plenty of her songs. then we have this pretty common trees which by coincidence are on a SF image. not really "obvious connections" in my eyes. It could be that way but many of you here just WANT it to be that way. -
Blue Jeans didn't had too much going on, but it was atmospheric and still somehow told us a story. I don't hate this new video, but you can just see that there was 0 effort put into it and the scenes y'sll are trying to interpret seem very random to me. There is not really any passion behind it, that's what's bothering me. And however she will explain and make excuses for this in interwievs, the video will stay boring. Not because it was filmed on a phone or because it has no plot but because it was filmed without any motivation.

Last Girl On Earth is very good, all those metaphors etc. I also love the lyrics for Off To The Races, Shades Of Cool, Blue Jeans, Without You, Is This Happiness, Black Beauty, National Anthem and Money Power Glory alot. And lots of Sirens songs have good lyrics (however they lack interesting sound in return)

Looks like they had no persmission to film there or they were embaressed to run around like that This would explain the way she looks behind her before entering the chapel and the "there's someone there" thing at the end Considering this last scene, it could almost be a tribute to the Blair Witch Projekt

Haha, funny thought how someone looks outside their window and sees lana in the white dress climbing over a fence with the ripped-out flowers in her hand Would have made a good music video too

Lana Considering a Re-Release of 'Ultraviolence'
Thunder Revenant replied to HEARTCORE's topic in Latest News
Why are you all thinking she'll put tracks on it she already recorded, like all this AFFA stuff? She said she feels creative and inspired to work on UV and make additions to it. This soudns to me as if she would rather write and record more new songs. If the Music To Watch boys thing wasn't just a joke, she may already have recorded things ... Of course, an EP can contain things that were outtakes from UV, but I think if there will be an EP, there will be mainly completely new songs. -
Well .. at least if the last scene would be her sitting in the chapel. But why this random walking scene at the end? destroys the concept of an already very action-less video. However, it will make a nice backdrop and I don't think it was intended for anything else than this.

Well, I totally agree with you in every way

Create an Unreleased Lana Album/Playlist
Thunder Revenant replied to PrettyBaby's topic in Lana Thoughts
I did some "unreleased" Playlists, which I burned on CDs . -

Really? Where did you take this from?

Looks quite nice, but I hope i is a story-teling one. On the other hand, Summertime Sadness had a video which looked very similar to this snippet and it's one of he rmost popular songs ... maybe this is foreshadowing!

National Anthem, Million Dollar Man, Yayo and West Coast grew their way from less-favourite songs to my top 10 Lana songs.

Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
Thunder Revenant replied to Monicker's topic in Lana Thoughts
Maybe a stupid question, but did Lana ever said anything homophobic? Cause I read an article which pointed out the difference between her and her idol Cobain (religion etc) and one example was that he was against homophobia. Seemed strange to me, since she gets along well with (openly gay) Woodkid and if I remember right she postet something about a gay pride parade on her old twitteraccount ... Nice theory but I feel like some people here are overinterpretating a bit because they want things to be like they imagine. There are things you could see as references, but I highly doubt that Lana did a record about this Family. Like the tree thibg ... this are not some super-rare trees or any kind of unique arrangement. Its some kind of common tree. Or the stretched out arms ... I think you really start to see the things you want to see at this point. Btw I don't want to interfere with anyone's spiritual believs, but let's not forget that in the end it was a group of almost only white, heterosexual people from the middle/upperclass who idolized a man who left his family and surrounded himself with young women. And as far as you can tell from her statements, Lanas cult-experiences, with whatever sect/cult, wasnt a positive one. -
There are two new ones. or more like one new one with two versions. Sounds kinda nice (for a remix) but I still favor Sonic Matta Dawood

What would you change about Lana's albums/eras?
Thunder Revenant replied to GodBlessMe's topic in Lana Thoughts
I would add YCBTB to the BtD playlist, I would put it after VG and before DMD. And I would have left DMD more like the demo was, same here with TIWMUG and (especially) Lolita andLucky Ones. The LO demo with the drums is soooo much better anf the Lolita one with the orchestra is just perfect, whilst the album version sounds so remix-y. -

Sirens - What Are Your Favourite Songs?
Thunder Revenant replied to Hello Heaven's topic in Lana Thoughts
A Star For Nick Everything else is ... meh for me -
West Coast had at least some good remixes (William Carl Jr, Dan Heath, Grades and MK) ... But these UVmixes ... ugh. Penelopes is ok I guess, but it's one of this remixes were yoz can hear that there was some 0815beat forced on a song. A shorter version of the PBR Streetgang mix COULD have been good ... Sonic Matta Dawood is my fav so far. Not because I consider it very good but it's the best club-y one for me so far ...

Cruel World. Everyone goes crazy about it and how good it is and that it would be a good single choice ... I consider it a nice song but it's sooo repetitive and ... well, just not that special in my eyes ^^

Official 2nd Single - Ultraviolence (Release August 18th)
Thunder Revenant replied to naachoboy's topic in New Releases
Invalid argument, neither werethe Radio Mix/Edits for Dark Paradise, Ride or Summertime Sadness, but the difference is that these are songs which, in their original form, are on the album. So releasing them as a single will promote the album. Deluxe Tracks as singles would be very strangem since they don't "officially" belong to the album.
