  1. Sad how everything about this "portraial of a modern romance", for which VG is praised by many critics, was completely unintentional ...
  2. I love Lana, but regarding Tropico ... I don't really think so ... But I would be here for any kind of soundtrack music!
  3. Me too if it's still possible to get it Interesting thing, but i like on how you CAN hear parts of the next/last song if you listen closely, but the tracks still are fine on their own. I really dislike having a favourite song, but always being forced to listen to it mixed with another one in order not to have a super-stupid beginning (or end), like it is with Quuens Of The Stone Age's "Kalopsia" or Mando Diao's "Shining" ...
  4. Hm ... Lots of people here know her but it's hard to tell how popular she is. Many know Summertime Sadness, Video Games, Dark Paradise, Born To Die, Young And Beautiful and West Coast but apart from that ...
  5. Kinda Outta Luck, You Can Be The Boss, Put The Radio On, Heavy Hitter, Serial Killer and Hundred Dollar Bill
  6. I don't care as long as it's more exciting than WC and less lazy & uncreative than UV. And by that I am not neccicarly talking about a Ride video, bc Ride is awful in my opinion. Awkward monologues and clichees whereever you look. I'd like to see something simple but good like the Blue Jeans Video by Woodkid. MPG could fit something like that or maybe BBY.
  7. Radio, Lucky Ones, Cruel World and Bel Air concerning the official stuff. However, they are nothing compared to some of the unreleased stuff ... The "official least favs" are judt the ones I like the least, but I dont really dislike them. However, concerning the unreleased stuff I REALLY don't like some at all!! Daytona Meth, Maha Maha, Moi Je Joue, Catch And Release, Making Out, I Was In A Bad Way and some songs from Sirens like "Birds Of A Feather, which have nice lyrocs but are superboring and she sings in a strange way ...
  8. you can if you listen to it with good headphones, it just overlaps with the chorus
  9. haha the irony ..... ----------- Uuh Black Beauty ... I guess it's not to positive to be asociated with this lyrics but ... I love the song so nevermind
  10. I have NO problem with simple, unpolished videos with atmosphere and meaning. However, tell me, what kind of meaning has this? I mean, if you search hard enough you can make up something, but I don't see anything intentional in there. It's just a super lazy execution of what could have been a good idea.
  11. Pretty sure she's singing "like the winter we're not in". It makes the most sense unlike those "let the winter winter in" or "like the winner winner in". And I also think the "if you're by my side" makes most sense and is actually quite obvious to hear.
  12. Yeah and I don't really get why you would want to write such a long article elaborating about this ...
  13. Agree with you on the epicness thing but PLEASE no more monologues ... they are sooo kitsch-y and annoying and everyone screms "so personal!" ....More acting and less monologue would have been very good for Tropico and the so-beloved ridologue also feels so awkward for me, especially the second part. I dont think an epic video needs a monologue but I also don't buy this "she's making art, you can interpret do much, so simple but good, so deeeep" excuse anymore. Eitherway she does a good atmospheric video ala Summerime Sadness, Born To Die or Blue Jeans, atmospheric homemade vids or she could maybe start doing really interesting, storytelling vids. She definitly HAS the potential but I often have the feeling she's just to lazy. and with storytelling vids I don't mean Katy Pery storytelling. Lana could have the potential for a short-movie-esque musicvideo (what tropico should have been) like the wonderful musicvideo for the yeah yeah yeahs' "sacrilege"
  14. This makes it even more unlikely ^^
  15. Who even said that this is from the UV video? Could be from SoC or for PWYC
  16. Half of the vidoe is her, walking through a garden and singing. Then, suddenly, an old man with a walking stick appears and screams "WHAT ARE YOU HIPPIES DOIN IN MAH GARDEN?" and Lana and the guy holding the Iphone start to run panicky, while the song still plays. In the end of the video, the phoneguy runs behind Lana and suddenly stumbles. The camera turns black. The last scene is Lana in the dark, holding the phonecamera close to her face and crying. Looking foreward to this!
  17. I don't really get the authors message. All this thing about "being straight" and "wanting to be straight". Nothing to do with Lana's music. She's a straight woman and sings about this in her love songs as a logical consequence. But just because this are "straight" lovesongs, it doesn't mean you can't relate to them if you are homosexual. I really don#t get what this woman wants to tell us, apart from that she is homosexual and still likes Lana. But the way this article i written it would deliver a hate-party to every homophobic xD I mean, she almost stigmatizes str8 people like others do it with gay people. Why can't we just all enjoy the music and have sex to it, with whomever we want to? No super-long articles needed.
  18. Connections? I think you are reaching. Maybe one could relate the songs to the family and you can interpret them like this but thete is no connection. All "connections" in this thread are, that people started to interpret UV with the source family in their minds. You could easily interpret it as a Batman inspired album if you really intended to. You can always find connections if you want. She mentions linen and curls. Nothing which makes you think of the SF in the first place. If you know them, you can make the connection but you could easily connection to any other sect where women wear clothes like this. Or maybe to non-cult women. and then those nicknames .... something Lana already used in plenty of her songs. then we have this pretty common trees which by coincidence are on a SF image. not really "obvious connections" in my eyes. It could be that way but many of you here just WANT it to be that way.
  19. Blue Jeans didn't had too much going on, but it was atmospheric and still somehow told us a story. I don't hate this new video, but you can just see that there was 0 effort put into it and the scenes y'sll are trying to interpret seem very random to me. There is not really any passion behind it, that's what's bothering me. And however she will explain and make excuses for this in interwievs, the video will stay boring. Not because it was filmed on a phone or because it has no plot but because it was filmed without any motivation.
  20. Last Girl On Earth is very good, all those metaphors etc. I also love the lyrics for Off To The Races, Shades Of Cool, Blue Jeans, Without You, Is This Happiness, Black Beauty, National Anthem and Money Power Glory alot. And lots of Sirens songs have good lyrics (however they lack interesting sound in return)
  21. You can if you have nails like this
  22. Looks like they had no persmission to film there or they were embaressed to run around like that This would explain the way she looks behind her before entering the chapel and the "there's someone there" thing at the end Considering this last scene, it could almost be a tribute to the Blair Witch Projekt
  23. Haha, funny thought how someone looks outside their window and sees lana in the white dress climbing over a fence with the ripped-out flowers in her hand Would have made a good music video too
  24. Why are you all thinking she'll put tracks on it she already recorded, like all this AFFA stuff? She said she feels creative and inspired to work on UV and make additions to it. This soudns to me as if she would rather write and record more new songs. If the Music To Watch boys thing wasn't just a joke, she may already have recorded things ... Of course, an EP can contain things that were outtakes from UV, but I think if there will be an EP, there will be mainly completely new songs.
