LDR Surf Shop Merch - Online for a Limited Time
wittycatchphrase replied to Elle's topic in New Releases
Holy fuck I didn't realize how long it's been, emailing them now for an update before I have to cut them. -
Oh definitely, for sure. No way this arc can last 10 eps. And I think IIRC there was a tweet from some AHS fan account earlier this summer that said "there's more going on" with a camera emoji, so I can see that "movie within a movie" possibility.
-
Absolutely agree about the fast pacing but wouldn't the movie idea make it like a repeat of the Roanoke season? I mean I guess the difference would be that with Roanoke, we knew we were "watching" something for the first 5 eps. I definitely think there's more to this season than what we've seen already but as much as I enjoyed Roanoke (I feel like I'm in the minority there lol), I'd be disappointed if they went that route again with 1984.

I hear you, like it's somewhat entertaining but in a cheap and formulaic way. Last season started off strong and went to shit, maybe this one will be the opposite, and end up being better than the beginning lol. I'll be honest though, I'm only watching for Cody and Billie <3

God I was so stupid to have fallen for that. OK now we banish the subject, sorry to give it attention. -
"What the hell, Daddy?" I wonder if Xavier secured the tape, or if The X Man Cometh will come back to haunt him...

'Honeymoon' Turns 4: Achieving Mental Health Through Time-Travel
wittycatchphrase replied to PARADIXO's topic in Latest News
Beautiful post, I'm revisiting Honeymoon in its entirety (even Religion, poss my least favorite Lana song ever) and it's been a transcendent experience. Thanks for the inspiration @PARADIXO -
That would be interesting (the Orwellian aspect has to come into play for sure somehow) but I hope he's not the antagonist in this season because he was so much the bad guy last season and it would be too repetitive. I mean he's talented enough not to get typecast but still, I don't want people to only expect that from him/ think that's all he can do because motherfucker has RANGE. I'm all for him being another character as well though! I was also thinking if the "being watched" theory would be too much like Roanoke. LOL I should stop overthinking it and just enjoy the show (which I definitely am so far).

OK I just replayed it a few times and now I'm curious...it sounds different when he says "You can't just take your dick and walk away" but the rest of it does sound like it could be Cody, hmmmm *strokes beard*

"Hey this is Xavier's answering machine, when you hear the beep do your thaaaang!"
-
Absolutely agree. Like he's above it all and doesn't need it to have his power. He's lascivious and manipulative (like when he talked to Gallant when he said his iconic line "The hole you need filled isn't in your face or your ass, it's in your heart.") without having to resort to the physical act.

Guys it's been 13 days and I'm still so in love with this album, I can't believe that I like every song, I wasn't expecting to at all and I'm just so happy and full of candy My favorites are (no order) MAC, NFR, VB, Cinnamon Girl, Bartender, The Greatest Also, does the beginning of Love Song remind anyone else of the instrumental beginning of the Blue Jeans video? The chords at the beginning of LS just recall the grandiosity of the Blue Jeans chorus for me for whatever reason.

Just so I don't have to cancel Cola, I pretend it's indeed "Ah he's in the sky with diamonds" instead of the H*rvey thing And I always sing "I'm a drag and you're a whore," I know lots of people think it's "I'm a dragon, you're a whore," but fuck that tbh LOL I sing that part as "She gives them butterflies, bats her cocoon eyes" because I like the imagery even though cocoon eyes makes no sense
-
Glad that was nixed tbh

LOL I saw her comment about the NPR review and cringed, but then ultra-cringed when I found out she was backtalking to Ann fucking Powers, homegirl's gotta use that filter between her brain and mouth

Weird, my charge was $4.90 and I'm pretty sure there was no option for 2 day, just standard. But I ordered the first day, wonder if they made changes. -
I'm throwing another wrench in this thread and possibly/probably reaching for the sky, but I'm starting to see this song through the lens of someone in recovery from drugs. I know I'm "biased" in a way because I'm going through this myself (off alcohol for almost 4 years but still struggle with pot, not to be cool story bro, just for background). But one of my biggest struggles when it comes up to giving something up totally is that it's a major loss. It sounds stupid but it's like losing a friend, an outlet for your stress. Giving up alcohol was a loss like that for me. I think Lana's mentioned feeling that way too around Born to Die time, or that a song that sounded like it was for a lover was really about alcohol (who knows who true that is though). And I remember whatever interview Courtney Love did with Lana last year or so, she mentioned that Lana doesn't drink or do drugs. Assuming this to be true, maybe the song references (in addition to missing the life she had years ago) the "greatest loss of them all," as in, losing the ability to get fucked up to deal with stressors. Being "burnt out" can also refer to drugs. "The culture was lit and I had a ball," could refer to the fact that she partied, but now it's time to move on, needing a "wake up call" when she's "wasted," to make that decision to become sober. For me personally, it's a hard decision to come to, because it's like, NOT having the ability to get fucked up scares me. It would force me to deal with the world and be more present for things that are inherently stressful and testing, such as "LA's in flames, it's getting hot," "Life on Mars ain't just a song," etc. Don't judge me guys, just an idea I had. Kisses.
