I wonder if the falses promises were trying to pressure the label. Sounds stupid but it seems pretty commom for people to just go around "If the label says no then I'll leak the whole thing" etc. And then you think that people like Lady Gaga herself already leaked songs just to put pressure on label so.
-
The worst scenario I can imagine is a "HAIM-ESQUE" situation where the follow up took too long to come and then people were not... into it... at all (I love Something To Tell You but I understand that people disliked it after so long). The whole teasing-delaying doesn't help her either so honestly idk. I feel like she tries sometimes but it's really some type of Limbo. Charli went through a lot as well between Sucker-Mixtapes-Third album but it pretty much feels just like Sky BEFORE NTMT. How many EP's were released and planned before the album came out? the titles change with sounds shift....

Leaks??? In a MARINA (Formerly known as "AND THE DIAMONDS) CAMPAIGN???? Groundbreaking. and I haven't listened to it, now that's a real groundbreaking.

Well I guess Love+Fear is real then. Fear & Loathing sweetie...

I also believe that "Masochist" has been done with different reincarnations already. Following the timeline post itself, you can see she started and "had a vision" already from the first note about the record. "November 21st 2014 - In an interview with Billboard, Sky announces that she is already working on her sophomore album and describes its sound as "heavier"and "a blend of everything". The same night, she at a concert in LA." Guardian performed means she already had songs that were halfway there at least. Then she officially announced the title "April 6th 2015 - Sky updates her Instagram bio to include 'Masochism' alongside 'Night Time, My Time', fuelling speculation that it is the name of her upcoming sophomore album. She later confirms this on Twitter." I don't think anybody goes "Well I'm gonna call my album X now let's see what it will be." She already had a clear state of mind about these songs if she created a concept. She then shot music video for Guardian...That means even the visual aspects of the record were already created. This goes deeper in 2016 with the Playboy Shoot (September) and everything. Theeen we go into 2017 where she goes "March 21st - Sky tweets that her album is "starting to shape up quite nicely" inside of her head." but how is it only shaping up now if she already had visual concepts, songs, music videos and everything to start the campaign? and suddenly is when the whole "Visual EP" thing probably started til it was meant to be released in February 2018. In this halftime she mentioned music videos coming "real soon", new music, new pics introducing the visual... and then nothing happened. I'm pretty sure Voices Carry was going to be part of whatever this was going to be. So yes I believe the album has been done and re-done already, just like all the versions of Night Time My Time before... you know... the official. But this is really odd and I feel that this time around she has been doing everything on her own without any support of the label from the start, and this can cost a lot. It would explain all the random ADS, Magazines, Film Roles and everything she did.
-
The thing is that, at this point, we just know she DOES have music done. It's impossible to imagine she shot GOD KNOWS how many music videos for these songs yet they're locked. And I'm talking about Guardian\Voices Carry. There's really something "off" about the whole thing.
-
Noooo sis, FROOT was cool already for the fact it's "FRUIT" but spelled wrong
-
I don't even think it's about the timeline but yesterday she posted a Q&A box on her instagram and... I'm just sure 90% people were probably calling her lazy crackhead and asking about new music. She was reading these and answering some real questions so... I understand it would make someone go mad. She's so talented I feel bad sometimes.
-
That long timeline post missed the time after 60 days "I NEVER GAVE ANY DATE" or the fact she ACTUALLY DROPPED VOICES CARRY and said she was finishing a music video... that haven't been released yet. 6 months after the soundcloud song.

It's so Marina to have a album full of bops but dropping a ballad as the first single JUST FOR THE SAKE of doing it and the meltdowns.
-
Maybe Fresh isn't the right word at all, but it's still a shooking good album that sound different. Friend of mine never really got into Marina and decided to give her another try. He listened to Froot and kinda enjoyed and then we went for electra heart and by the time Bubblegum Bitch began he was like "This is just 100x times better than I remembered honestly" and it repeated for Homewrecker & Lies, he called starring role a filler so we had a fight. He also praised the songwritting around teen idle and the idle\idol play and honestly Marina is really a master on songwritting. This is something I feel that EH\TFJ may work better as "pop records" than Froot. They are all made with innuendos, with double ideas. This is Pop at it's heart. Froot have really beautiful lyrics, but everything feels "on the nose". Way too direct? It's like a diary entry. Her thoughts and all. But EH\TJF is like telling the truth about the deepest scars while joking about it and then crying. I just love it.

Electra Heart is the epitome of EDM-Dubstep-Electro-Pop-2012. It's a bible with the finest productions of what became the most satured trend of this decade. Yet, it does sound fresh because it was done THE RIGHT WAY. It's the album the kids could look in 2030 to understand what was happening with the world. All this with a tumblr-esque package.
-
The song itself has some cute parts like the bridge but I think the production itself doesn't help. It really sound... demo-ish. I like the "Hidden behind Shirts, Ties & Marriages" and "I'm not afraid of God, I'm afraid of man" as well.
-
I think Savages didn't age that well. Really enjoyed when it came out but today it feels... a bit "trying-too-hard"
-
I can't 100% remember if it was fan talk or actually something "confirmed" but the re-release was meant to happen for real. She decided agaisn't later saying the album was perfect as a 12 tracks but idk.
-
Looking back at everything now, I kinda understand why she decided to scrap the "FROOT RE RELEASE" (and Savages as a single? I think that was a thing?) with everything going around her.
-
Well the whole lead single being "different" from the rest is not really a surprise since... Froot (song) vs Froot (record)
-
Sis is not that deep at all, but at the same time Marina went "silence" because she wasn't feeling well, yet in this middle time she kept interacting somehow with fans. "Marinabook" was a thing. I find Marina a bit annoying sometimes but I respect her choices. During these 3 years we at least got 2 songs released with Clean Bandit, some snippets (Thanks Eclipse?), Froot Outtake (I'm not Hungry Anymore) and etc. And we are mentioning ERAS right now, I can fully tell you that if Lana served real ERAS just like Born To Die\Paradise or how Marina does, the gays wouldn't urge her to release a song every 5 months because they got bored of her last Rick-Nowels-Piano-Ballad-Whistle-Whisper-Voice There was no problem in the wait between Paradise-Ultraviolence when she went total silence and then mentioned "NOT SURE IF THERE WILL BE ANOTHER ALBUM", and, in fact, people were pretty shook when she mentioned about Honeymoon so early after Ultraviolence was out, but that's essentially when everything around Lana turned MESSY. Canceled performances for television and radio, no music videos, short campaigns and... basically no real tour happened since Paradise til LA To the Moon (Festival Tour was a mess and Endless Summer was North America only.) Anyway, I'm not trying to sound like "Marina does it better" or anything. If Lana wants it to be just about her dropping songs every now and then with an album later in the cycle, it's fine, but it's just the reason why the hype die 2 months after the record is out and people start begging for new music.
-
To be fair Marina's eras>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Lana At the PEAK OF MESSY Marina gave us music videos, interviews, performances... Lana found recycling some random video she took on the back of her car for the upcoming "~~~lead single after 3 songs and no album date~~~"
-
What song you expect to be the lead sis? excited? I'm hoping this will be big for her
-
That DAZED interview was... well.... something. It's interesting to read about everything happening while she was on tour, it's never easy for the artists to be on tour. We can't forget how she also got sick during Lonely Hearts Club and had to cancel shows and everything. The piece calling the jokes about being poor "misogynist" was a bit too much tho since it all started because herself joked about bankrupting the label. And there are thousand other acts like Tinashe that goes on the same yet... but I understand if it bothers her that much. Just funny lol.
