  1. Call me crazy but I kinda took "the Triad" to mean, like, the organised crime group.... maybe not the actual Triad haha though she could mean that but also kinda gang members/organised crime members/drug dealers/high-ranking criminals in general. I took it as a reference to her waitressing (at Ruby Tuesdays ) and serving up (evidently quite crappy and burnt) coffee to these guys on her shift, probably late at night, kinda contemplating the weird differences between their lifestyle/work life and hers. Perhaps this is informed by personal experience - I'm a hotel receptionist and can confirm we have plenty of drug dealers and high ranking criminals staying with us at any given time lol so I'm always serving them coffee, helping them out, etc. It's a strange thing to witness in a way - me with my crappy minimum wage job, serving this guy who can't even pay his takeout delivery guy with anything smaller than a £50 note..... I guess that's where my interpretation comes from.

  8. completely feel this! each song has like a very lana-esque element. Ride is the big, bombastic anthem about the strange combined feelings of loneliness and freedom. American is the slightly more paired-back, intimate, sweet, devoted love song with the trip-hop elements present on BTD. Cola is the sultry, Bond Girl-esque side of Lana that sings about older men and diamonds. Body Electric is the sinister celebration of iconography and Americana. Blue Velvet is the classic jazz cover, obviously significant to Lana's whole thing. Gods & Monsters is the most rock-inspired song on the EP, which again, super relevant to Lana (the song would probs fit right in on UV) and that's without even considering the iconic lyrics and what they represent in the Lana pantheon. Yayo is obviously a re-imagining of her elusive earlier work as Lizzy and all its talk of trailer parks and putting on a show for u daddy represents the 'sad party' vibe she aims for in her earlier work and unreleased stuff. Bel Air is a lil bit of 'Hollywood Sadcore' Lana, super ethereal and gentle but also a little glamorous and cinematic. there's rly something in every song of this EP to represent who Lana is, esp who she was at that point it needs more love
  9. the very best thing you can do is get tested if you're able, love. don't feel bad about self-isolating, there's no use in taking the risk with things like this. is there a helpline you can call to talk through your symptoms?
  10. I wasn't as worried at first but now I'm kinda shook tbh. Idk if my health is good enough to cope with it, or if my mum's health is good enough to cope with it. My grandma only recovered from lung cancer about a year ago so she would def be gravely affected if she caught it. The stores are being cleared out. It's getting worse. I have to continue working my hotel job where I interact with people travelling from all over the world and I have to carry their luggage upstairs etc, usually have to shake their hands too and out of politeness I can't say no. I'm trying to stay optimistic so badly but it's getting harder, I'm so worried all the time and I'm struggling to take my mind off it.

  21. Speaking of Arctic Monkeys - I feel that songs like Pin-Up Galore and Trash Magic would fit right into their Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino album! Also, Sad Girl sort of reminds me of their track Four Out Of Five for some reason??? Like a funkier weirder version of Sad Girl????
  22. trying to resist the urge to say something about my cancelled tour date but knowing it'll only stress me out if i think about it like:
