Well said, just amazing. I just realized how much I do that, subconsciously even. Now that I'm older too, I wonder how differently I'll interpret her upcoming album ?

It's addicting, to Supercut your past, but we all reach a point where the past is most definitely the past, it's chapters written and book long closed. A certain finality to a portion of life we've all lived. I think Lana is really gonna hone in on this in these next years. When she was 23,25-she was so young- as we all were- that to frame experiences and moments in a beautiful, retro format that crystallizes the purity of the portrayed era (not so much the decade itself but it's Hollywood emotions) was a fantastic way to show that. Simplicity in things past. But like we've all basically had to do as we grow, and face this year, she now has a past of her own to reframe and reformat what she interprets as her past/present/future. Her own crystal ball of memories and experiences. I can't wait to see what else this record holds for us.

We really are! And ugh, I love that so much, wow. The personal is the political, especially if you consciously take individual actions that are good-intentioned and of course are executed properly. I so agree that Lana sharing her insight is her way of doing that; zeroing in on her experiences and turning all the way inward is her contribution to the world - clearly we all resonate with it so much to the point that we’re on this site and I know we all come from so many different backgrounds. It’s crazy that we’re united by that. And to that I know a lot of people will think I’m just incredibly biased for crediting Lana that much - but the proof is in interactions like these, where we can place Lana’s work within the context of a broader world. Chemtrails is only going to solidify her being of that caliber!

I..can't even add to this. Such insight. Especially in your mention of individual actions being well intentioned (now in the class this was directly applied to the German population that stood by during the holocaust, a multifaceted argument full of grey circumstances in its own right) but I do believe alot of Lana's hurt has come from people who didn't set out to be villains, and that's why we relate so much (dear God let no one interpret this as me comparing a woman's personal plight to the suffering of millions of innocent souls, cus that's not what I mean!!)

As we all grow older with her, the scorn of the moment has turned to the bittersweet nostalgia of yesterday. A chance not to look at your past with rose colored glasses, but a reverence of understanding and longing-maybe to do it right in your head, maybe just to say goodbye to it, but regardless- she is one of the best at taking a moment, and holding it in a light that transcends each form of time, past, present, and future. To serenade something not yet broken, yet shattered ages ago. This is why we love her.

So well-said, my friend! I really love what this record’s narrative is shaping up to be so far. I always felt like Lana was really spot-on when it came to making social commentary through her music (even if it appeared to be solely autobiographical in some of her earlier records, but I believe that she’s always woven some sort of grander message into her experiences). While we can conclude this by reading between the lines and not so much what she’s word-for-word saying, I love how she seems to be exploring womanhood, the legacy of familial bonds - regardless of how they are - and staying strong in the midst of tension by centering yourself into the things that are important to you. I think we’ll see the latter bit on Dance Till We Die in particular!

YES. Ugh welcome back. I completely agree in its respect by way of something I learned while studying German expressionism/post war film in college (remedial but I adored it, it was focused here with Margarethe Von Trotta) it's that the personal is political, and Lana excels at this. Her specificity and honor to the story she's telling exposes universal truths that all walks of life can and have experienced. We....we're really winning here aren't we?

Yes, I also noticed that too!  I really think it’s clear now that the “chemtrails” represent the turmoil she’s talked about in interviews (to Annie Mac she said she doesn’t find it hard to be good in the midst of all the bad) and in the IG caption when she put up the album cover (“there’s always turmoil and upheaval and in the midst of it - there’s always beautiful music”). It’s so cool to see how she’s going to address these anxieties that loom over and linger throughout our lives and the work we put into it to push through. I’m seriously so excited!

Love this. Chemtrails as the physical manifestation of the hidden turmoils of our lives, that can rain invisibly down on even the most cherished family moment. Magnum. Opus.

I wonder if her posting the teaser today in particular means that the video is coming in 20 days, on the same day as the album? Not that it particularly means anything but she posted the teaser for the Chemtrails video 20 days before it came out!

You know I was literally thinking this but if she formally announced it the next day wouldn't that make it 19 days? And is it my understanding that she mentions 19 in the lyrics? Or is that just one of you chaotic gremlins making my day? ;) ugh the theories! Let them commence!

I don’t know about that writer’s validity, but he wrote for Flash Art Magazine, which is a legit, credible magazine, so it’s possible they know something! Elle (the magazine, not our queen :creepna3:) also said Hope is a Dangerous Thing would be the 3rd track to be released from NFR in October 2018, 3 months before it even came out. Hopefully tomorrow it’s coming!

Speaking of QUEENS, HEY GURL!!! SO GLAD YOURE HERE!!!

The way I just had a drink called a fish bowl. We walk home in this drunk town my luv and ughhhh God the celebration!!!!! And she didn't even really say anything?!?! but did anyone else get choked up?? Shit, this song is gonna wreck my mental state. Have at it sweetie!!!! We love Lana!

Edit- @Dragon the Chris Evans gifs...whenever they are appropriate to the convo...yes please and more of them always

  8. The only thing getting me through this is the thought that she came back around to the idea of a "surprise" release, which given how much info she's already shared-has essentially made the next 3 weeks just a desert. Here for her doing a digital double release with the covers album. Here for it. Here for it. Here for it!!!! delusion and hope is a damn dangerous thing luvs

after my first listen, "everything happens for a reason" is my number one. i'll have to give the album a few more listens before i can make a final ranking. but yeah, she's such a cute debut album. i'm proud of madison. still mad that she didn't put dear society on life support. that's the song that got me into her and it would fit so well. :crai:

Agree completely. Everything Happens has absolutely no business getting so close to home and it's beautiful. That and Stained Glass are the standouts, then Blue, White Rabbit, Default, and Selfish

  10. Just listened to Stained Glass and holy Christmas cookies on a platter, this will do- this will ABSOLUTELY do. Repeat till midnight, ugh thank God for this girl and saving me from a White Dress meltdown ;)

Honestly she has so much range and shows that in the album too and it’s still incredibly cohesive -from beginning to end. It’s 3:25am here and since the midnight release I haven’t stopped listening, it really is that great. :wowcry:

Oh shit, glass raised and a cheers to you then! Oh sweet I'm hyped, love when an artist pops out of nowhere (for me, she seems to have a large fan base lol)

  12. Never listened to her before but her albums on deck for my midnight release listen. What can I expect? She's Flippin drop dead beautiful for sure.

Edit- @lamms that review oh my....they dropped so many names. Lana, Radiohead, Evanescence. I'm intrigued

Zella and Weyes are coming out with a video for Holocene (personally I’m just happy I’m getting that this week and can forget the WD disappointment). Does that mean Lana won’t release White Dress the next day? :/

If it was Holocene's first release, like the song with the video I dont think she'd rain on Zella's parade like that, but Holocene has been out a couple weeks so I'm sure she's in the clear. Plus Zella and Weyes definitely seem to go with the community aspect Lana is seeking and im sure they talk all the time, so no toe-stepping occurs.

if we're getting White Dress at all, if we don't, ill be ok-signs aren't looking up:/
