BTD was iconic for infusing orchestral music with hip hop beats but that has been done to death now by other artists and Lana herself. UV was soft rock with strings, Honeymoon was trap with cinematic strings, LFL was basically BTD lite but worse, etc. Honestly, if she’s going the jazz route. I listened to the new Arctic Monkeys album and it’s 🥱 😴. We don’t need that. We need this Praying to the lord he dragged Lana to his sound. The jazz album Lana’s been talking about since UV will finally come into fruition.

It is not as damaging. It’s a good replacement for those actually wanting to cut out the addiction and be healthy. Lana was going at the right direction. The right mindset. (She was trying to stop smoking, making healthy living choices, making some of the best music best album of her career, etc. but wow what a moment) Something really shifted after 2020. She definitely let her self go more ways than one let’s just leave it at that. She’s definitely been living FULLY.

I guess she started smoking again recently (this year). Sad.

Yes, but she definitely said she’s going to stop smoking. And she did. She stopped around late 2018. I’m pretty sure she stared “vaping” because she wanted to wean herself off cigarettes completely. She was vaping the entirety of the NFR era and Cumtrails. There are endless pics of her vaping. I haven’t seen her with a cigarette since….well until now. All of that for nothing. I’m just worried about her voice. At the same time, why I am worried? when she doesn’t even care. It is what it is.

I thought she stopped smoking…what the heck is this? I’m going to start blaming cigarettes for her new breathy “vocals”.

Yeah, I remember hearing West Coast for the first time and thought that she was mumbling her words. It was a huge shift. Shades Of Cool as well.

Bartender is only recent song close to her Born To Die era singing. Oh Living Legend as well but that’s literally a song from that era lol. I think living in the UK during BTD also affected her enunciation in a positive way. She had a country twang in AKA that was gone for a while (BTD-LFL), but it’s been coming back.

Listening to AKA rn, that album has more interesting production than her last 3 albums (iktr including NFR)

I really don’t want her to go back to old producers tbh. I want her to keep working with new people. Drew Erickson was an interesting…experiment (B*ue B*nist*rs) after pivoting from Jack (Chemtrails). However, she got back with Jack after the flops. I’m super happy she’s working with Jon Batiste.
