Going South will now ship June 4th and Eclipse on ATRL is hinting that he thinks he knows which songs will be used for promo. So maybe the 2 hearts from Mr. S means in two weeks! (aka June 4th ish)

I like that the fandom has collectively decided not to recognize Lana’s inclusion of the quotes and frame around her in the covers because it’s too ugly or obvious that Lana is trying to get her message across -
The total lack of a promo on this album is a bit tragic. Not even because Lana moved on so quickly You could send Breaking Up Slowly to alt/country radio stations (including Sirius) and it would be a new source of fans for Lana Doesn’t even conflict with the Blue Banisters cycle! And none of her features have been promo-ing it themselves that much either.

This album is giving me LFL 2.0 vibes, both in its flaws and strengths -

These songs are about trying to salvage the relationship with Sean? I’m sorry that you went through that Lana but he was a bad cop... Makes me appreciate Clay so much more -
Wow she’s really gonna snatch Olivia’s wig for the summer omg

I’m blaming this on the Spotify UI tbh. Her Youtube numbers are more consistent -
I've been thinking of the Ol' Man River reference...she clearly mentions it because it's a seminal, classic American song for depicting the African American experience at the time. (American Standards & Classics clue perhaps?) There are facts about the song that I can see why Lana would connect to it--Frank Sinatra covered it; Nancy Sinatra says it's one of her favorites of her father's. The lyrics were written by Hammerstein who also wrote the lyrics to You'll Never Walk Alone, a song Lana covered for Liverpool FC. (Her rendition is much closer to the musical than the modern day version that most Liverpool fans know it as, according to my Liverpool fan friend.) I'm not sure how Ol' Man River connects with the Black Lives Matter part tbh, other than to show that the brutality of the Black experience in America hasn't changed much. From what I've read, the river in the musical is to show how it runs endlessly and doesn't care about the plight of the African Americans, even though the existence of the Mississippi River is the reason why they're there doing slave labor. HOW does that work for Lana's song??? I seriously fear she uses these references to relate it to her relationship to Se*n in another ignorant white girl way. I hope it's more like her version of an awakening.

When I first heard the snippet, I was thinking "who paints banisters blue, kind of an ugly color to put on the stairs" even though blue is very much a Lana-ism. Green banisters could work if they're dark green in typical interior design contexts imo, gray being the most neutral and thus, common.

I remember during Violet promo she wrote a quick poem for Vogue that essentially drags Sean for leading her on, so much so that she finds her cats so much reliable. Old cat lady energy

Idk all of Lana’s albums have some form of art direction. I liked COCC’s fonts I’m sure Blue Banisters will have something good but it depends on how Interscope is feeling. What if they forget to check up on Lana I swear Lana’s DIY frugality is partially a move to be free from label influence as much as possible. -

Forever tickled at the thought that Joan doesn’t know Lana that well, her first impression being that she’s really popular with today’s 14 year olds. This makes Lana’s congratulations look more like a fan post rather than a friend.

Listening to COCC has been my source of comfort as my office job has been very very stressful. Yosemite is a meditative experience For Free is a nice arrangement. I have interpreted those two tracks (and a bit of White Dress) into about work and the weight of expectations and how it’s all relatively bullshit lol
-
I’m hearing it as the relationship Lana describes is a textbook (classic) example of some psychological thing, as she relates her feelings about her father to another relationship
-
The tracking period must be different because her Youtube numbers are much higher. Also Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour also has really low numbers (with a release 11 hours later)

I’m getting anxiety thinking about the rollout lol Lana needs vinyls for that good first week sales but vinyl production is still months delayed. Pitchfork, AV Club, and those publications will continue to misconstrue her lyrics. It’s going to be an uphill battle to repair her image. -

Blue Banisters addresses not not being a feminist imo. Another controversy is her cultural appropriation especially Latino street culture? -

The second chorus of WW has some pretty godly synths. Probably my favorite part of the song

I really like this song! Kind of reminds me of Japanese Breakfast
