Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
Churchome Rep replied to Monicker's topic in Lana Thoughts
Was there ever a thread that finds the sources of the vintage video clips Lana used in her MVs? Right now I’m curious where the opening clip of VG is from (the orange & blue futuristic looking thing) and the highway shots in VB (since I’m convinced I know the locations of them) -

I feel like Miles Kane took the best song from their writing sessions. He said that all their other songs didn’t make the cut because they were slow, John Lennon like ballads and I don’t necessarily need more of that from Lana -
Harry was caught wearing a N*zi costume at a party and once called a Pakistani person a slur. I personally believe that people should be able to grow from their mistakes especially when they're young, but the utter lack of reconciliation with those two incidents from Harry is I think Diana was kind of classist though. She hated the royal family members but it's not like she wanted to opt out of it entirely.

Let’s see if this post means anything about her relationship with Clay He posted today photos from his Dallas/Fort Worth trip and it was very country but I think at least one fan would’ve seen Lana in the area?
-
If it helps you, it’s not the worst pro-royalist thing a celebrity has posted today. Lana probably views the royal family from the American perspective of their celebrity and not much inspection beyond that.
-
More meditations on the royal family on her next album. Candle in the wind was just the beginning ETA: Lana views things by how iconic they look and doesn’t consider any context. (Queen of) Judging things by a picture book that she forgot to read

Today Was A Fairytale is so different in the re-recording to me. It used to sound much more playful and had those little instrumental details (like the little chimes when she goes “the way you kissed me”). It’s lost in the new mix. Taylor’s vocal weaknesses helped sell the youthfulness and naïveté of Fearless. But I respect her reasoning for re-recording

It wouldn’t surprise me but why would Lana go to Dallas from Austin?

I agree, I didn’t like Doin’ Time or LFL but they helped with promo and streaming numbers. COCC sank like a rock I see them stepping in to retain that prized 14-21 demographic that Polydor head was talking about. -

I think COCC was the album her label knew would be hard to make commercially successful but the trade off is that they will give suggestions on RCS to make it more popular. Kind of like adding Doin’ Time or Lust for Life with The Weeknd -
But Nikki isn’t mainstream country music at all though

That Alexa answer sounded like a word salad that was meant to describe “something with audio that will be released with copyright” -

Day of the Grammys she posted a Facetime screenshot of them so it might be related to that -

Lana once said that she liked Rick because he didn’t force her to continue writing if she hit a roadblock or wasn’t feeling it. His attitude is “ok let’s move on” which is definitely a kind of creative philosophy but maybe to some is a “yes man” position -

Given her lack of instrumental skills, Lana is more dependent on a producer giving her the chords and beats than say, Taylor. Then it becomes a process where Lana is asking Jack for more “wild” or “stripped back” and he can’t deliver but it’s not like Lana can do it herself. So we end up Lana pre-emptively saying COCC isn’t 100% to her original vision -

Jack can’t be co-producing the whole album, right? (this is me coping) Like Lana and St. Vincent are the only ones who made Jack the sole co-producer on most of their tracks on their albums. Melodrama is the album that naturally fits into Jack’s style the best and the only songs he’s the sole co-producer at are the stripped down piano ballads. Everything else Lorde sent to other producers for their touches. -

Link? Lana sweetie wait until other Jack-produced albums come out and hear the recycled chord progressions from Love song or something on there -
She sounds good I like that Nikki acknowledges that BUS is simple haha. I can see why she’s so drawn to Nikki especially on a musical level. Nikki is that very indie musician who plays super small venues & doesn’t have mainstream country support, which gives Lana the opportunity to live out her White Dress years.

Lana at Nikki Lane's show at Long Center in Austin, TX - April 3rd, 2021
Churchome Rep replied to Elle's topic in Sightings
was this a question? nikki does have some NH dates in the summer https://www.nikkilane.com/tour -
yes there’s one in Austin tonight

The fact that this album isn’t getting its due on streaming + Spotify’s major bugs (it keeps crashing on me on mobile when and only when I put COCC on shuffle it seems) make me more peeved than it should Also Lana isn’t really doing any promo for this era so I interpreted it as “new era, new sound” but she’s still leaning into country
-
Lana should learn how to play the piano and general music theory so she can have more ownership over the production side of her music. More instruments in her music, pleaseee I’m not a Jack Antonoff fan because I’m hearing similar regressions in St. Vincent’s artistry since Massseduction and St. Vincent has way more musicianship than Lana does. So if Lana is responsible for picking the (basic) chords/sounds with no formal training, then what does that say about St. Vincent? That can’t be right

Having 2.5 albums of lush pop (BTD, HM, parts of LFL) but getting like 3 albums of folk/country is testing my limits ngl -
Lana Del Rey x Nikki Lane 1 - Pre-Pre-Release Thread

It would seem so cruel of Lana to get Nikki’s hopes up about an album coming out and that’s why we know it’s coming (later) who cares about the fans
