I want her to headline South American Lollapalooza with Radiohead. That would be a dream.

she was not talking about Banks, that already was verified and makes no sense anyhow in what Honeymoon means

Okay, I don't know who you are so I assume you don't know me unless you stalk my posts around the forum then well that's on you..
But I've been a fan of Bowie way long before he died. A long time, years. He's my favorite artist of all time and there's people on here who knew I loved him before he died. I only changed my signature and avatar to him as a memoriam and my signature and avatar hadn't been changed in a while...

So, next time instead of making straight assumptions about me maybe you should ask questions or are you naturally ignorant?

Inb4 ya'll hype up her next music video with unrealistic expectations and BTD visuals and end up disappointed.

I think it's safe to say that she's not going to release anything as close to what she did early in her career, so some you just need to accept that and move on.

We don't know her exact mind frame of anything, only based on what she releases. For all we know, her creative process has always been the same. I know that she says that she writes the treatments for her videos, but it's the directors that ultimately craft the overall execution of it. In my opinion, both Yoann Lemoine and Anthony Mandler were her best collaborators, in large part because they are very strong visual directors.

Regarding her treatments, Anthony once said something along the lines of some being well-thought out and some being kind of stream-of-conscious. I think that's a nice way of saying that most lack depth or any coherency. She did start off with copy-and-pasting images from other sources in her homemade videos after all. But I think both Lemoine and Mandler were able to take these concepts/ideas and mold them into something do-able. Also, having a bigger budget certainly helped. But I believe that they understood her as an artist. Most of the directors she's been working with lately have been lacking in that area, in my opinion. She's probably giving them these checklists of what she wants and they're doing everything for the most part, but aren't giving them that unique touch or refining them like they should be.

Plus, it's not like EVERY video in the past has been on caliber of Born to Die and Ride. Blue Jeans is literally her in a pool with a guy and some crocodiles. Any other director would have done a sub-par job with it, esp. considering there's not much to do with that concept, but Lemoine was able to bring a distinct style to it. For the most part, she has interesting ideas both for her songs and videos, but she really needs someone there to bring them to life.

i think she's gotten better musically over time for me personally. i find her to be a far more interesting artist now then when she first came out, even though i loved her when she first came out too.

i just think people are expecting btd quality eras, and that was very much a one off thing for her, but fans cant let go and they get frustrated. its cute people care so much, but i've come to terms with just rolling with the punches when it comes to her nowdays, as long as the albums are great i'm happy............everything else is fun, but i can take it or leave it since it comes second to the music, and i still love the music.

chart and sales wise, she was always going to decline, she was always a niche artist who got a lucky break with btd and she was never going to be able to maintain that sort of success over and over. shes just not that type of artist and her music doesnt have that sort of pull.

okay i hate to be /that/ guy but.. i'm disappointed..

the video is good but it didn't belong to Freak! the aesthetic didn't match the audio at all, some scenes were way too long and should've been cut in half or even quarters, and other scenes (like the ones of her in the room with the record player) should've been explored a lot more.
also not her getting my hopes up with an 11 minute video and the last 6 minutes literally being slow motion shots of girls swimming?? like i wouldn't mind if it was her swimming but... mess!

if you play 'Brooklyn Baby' over the video right after the 'LANA DEL REY - FREAK' earth shot is finished, it fits up almost perfectly. i need someone to recreate the video with scenes from MTWBT, Honeymoon Sampler and Freak but with Ultraviolence or Brooklyn Baby

she's a mess for this... but saying that some of the shots were beautiful, the ones of her smiling

She looked great....in 2014. When this was all filmed

I couldn't watch the 6 minutes of girls swimming - i don't have that kind of attention span

The first five or so minutes were okay, not great but not terrible, while freak was playing. However, that last six minutes of swimming girls set to piano music was straight up bulkshit. I genuinely think she tries to test how far she can go with her fans' patience.

This is definitely my least favorite of Lana's music videos (except Ultraviolence ) but it's pretty I guess

The second chorus is really tragic looking though (and the entire last 6 minutes)

Lana next week: "Art Deco coming soon featuring (yet AGAIN) FJM and the girls from MTWBT, including more unused footage from the Ultraviolence era....see you soon. xx"

I can usually defend Lana against criticism but this was just so bad. The overall idea/plot of the video had so much potential and this is what she chose to make? She can do so much better. Somebody said some of the footage was from the abandoned Ultraviolence video which would make sense since the overall video seems to have no cohesive plot. The last five minutes seemed so pointless. I really wish she could put as much effort into the videos as she does the songs. It just feels like she's given up visually. It's just a tad difficult being a Lana fan when she herself doesn't seem to give a shit anymore.

right now, she's nothing but a complacent little ho that feels as if she's already made her mark on the industry and thus isn't striving to push herself any further. she's better than the rest and she knows it, but now that everyone else is starting to recognize it too, she doesn't have any of that fire from before; nothing to prove and nothing new to currently say (and it shows, visually, in particular)

she went from piecing mood boards together in order to properly manifest her own self-realizations -- from constructing gorgeously unified visuals to ... this? using fucking scraps from a previous era just because she can? twice! its one thing to set forth with an idea and stick to it mentally or emotionally, but entirely another to just splice random shit together and publish it just because it ~ 'sort of works' ~ ... she's way better than this and so its painfully ironic that the critics no longer have anything negative to say, when the video is honestly trash and deserving of the hate that she would've typically received during the higher points in her career. no intelligence or insight or nuance, just vapid images and a hope for some far-reached analysis of an idea that was clearly never even there to begin with

you say that she doesn't want to be 'pop' but this is the most 'pop' mentality she's had so far in her career; literally cut and rehashed and devoid of feeling. but she knows that as long as its slow and pretty, and set to something * classical *, no one will be able to say anything negative out of fear of seeming ~uncultured~ ; i'm sure her motivations for this were calculated to ensure plausible deniability rather than any artistic growth

i see u bitch! hope this message (or something similar) gets to her ~ cuz she need to step it the fuck uP (or start to outsource)

like honestly, even when she was singing honeymoon last night, she sounded like she was half dead and basically let the crowd sing like 40% of the song. that's pretty much an equivalent metaphor for her visual efforts

Well that was beautiful and dull....

When i re-watched Freak twice and begun thinking about it I started hating it the more it when on. It doesn't feel like a music video just a collection of pretty images stuck together -montage style-  with no real effort to make a solid story. A lot of the footage feels like deleted/extended shots for the scrapped UV video. I wouldn't of minded but it so obvious at some points like for instance the five minutes at the end of the video. No offense but its shockingly lazy even for Lana tbh...

OMFG I'M LATE CAUSE I WAS SLEEPING FUCK I'm so excited I'm physically nauseous I hate her so much for managing to always keep me back on the stanning track every single time, this looks like it's going to be a legit video nothing in me is ready. Can someone confirm it's 6am in the UK? Cause of course I'm having the hugest day tomorrow so I planned everything to be able to wake up at 3am for it so of course it's not the right hour I really hope my expectations are meant because a 2s snippet is enough to make me imagine a billion different things omfg DID MY EYES DECEIVED ME OR WASN'T THERE ANY TRACE OF FILTER ON THIS 2s snippet. This is an excellent sign

OMFG SIS I WAS HOLDING BACK MY STANNING NOT TO BE THE ONLY ONE GETTING OFF BUT I'M VOMITING CHUNKS I'M SO FUCKING EXCITED THIS IS GOING TO BE SO SO SO MUCH BETTER THAN WHAT I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE AND I DON'T EVEN LIKE THE SONG SO IT'S SAYING MUCH IDK HOW SHE DOES IT BUT SHE JUST HAVE TO BLINK AND I'M CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR SOBBING watch this becoming as iconic as the old videos era
