nfr played it very safe. which is fine. she's prob tired of being called a suicidal cokehead whore every time she blinks. i cant blame her for that. for chemtrails, i just want some instrumentation back. some production. nfr was stripped back in every sense, and it was nice for what it was. but i want to hear that Big Lana Del Rey Sound™ again. lust for life was a lot more thoughtful and less gloomy, as well, but those songs are still enjoyable to listen to. there's still replay value there. nfr is a chore to sit through (in my opinion). only a couple songs actually stayed in the playlist.

i mean, she spent most of her career stick thin (borderline unhealthily so, some of those 2011/2012 pics are a little eyebrow raising). and, she quit smoking in the last year and a half or so (weight gain is a common side effect). and she's also thirty five. we're so used to be her being notably skinny that the second she gains a few pounds and looks less like a supermodel and more like a regular person, people think she's suddenly fat. which is wack af sorry

the name "lana del rey" is perfect and i don't really see anything wrong with it. the recurring chola imagery is definitely off tho. nothing wrong with hoop earings and eye liner but she def over did it and played up some sort of exoticism/racial ambiguity. and her constantly-evolving accent didn't help either lol.

Yeah she never did give a solid timeframe for NFR, and even said she has no clue when it’s coming out. With COCC she straight up said it’s coming out September fifth, which makes me think it’s already turned in, locked and loaded, and prepared to drop.

i almost believed it at first but that’s def not her smh

high by the beach was the first lana song release i got to experience in real time. ahhhh memories. at that point, i had never done a drug in my life, and i hate the beach with a passion...yet i blasted that song every day the end of that summer.
