  1. that is huge for a poetry book tbh. small press poetry books are considered a huge hit when they sell 1,000 copies. also go lana beating out stephanie meyer lol
  2. the only one that i feel is really strong and would've been a cool addition to audiobook is one called "thanks to the locals," but it's super personal and sad (in a somewhat diff way than the other audiobook poems, since it's about going to an aa meeting) so i could understand why it wasn't included
  3. lol my gf is watching but i'd rather gouge out my eyes than listen to p*nce talk for even one second
  4. anyone else super underwhelmed by the whole marketing of gaga's make up line? i haven't bought any but that is prob mostly bc the campaigns and looks they've shown have been so janky...nothing exciting or original– even though that is supposed to be the whole point– and the looks always seem half-assed too (the last thing i'd expect from gaga). idk maybe the products are great but i remain unconvinced.

  6. idk that i've actually cried to a song in a long time (the last one i can actually remember is crying to "stupid love" by gaga when it came out– lol i know– over the "free me from the shame" line). but whenever i am in my feels lately my go to's are "iou" and "born to lose" by u.s. girls, "lark song" by angel olson, and "pin up galore" by lana. what was the last movie, tv show, or book that made you cry?

  12. but omg the English countryside is so gorgeous! though i know not everyone can just flit off to the countryside whenever they feel like it.
  13. i'd love a vinyl boxset in the vein of the ones bat for lashes did for her last two releases (they included posters, letters written as a character from one of the albums, postcards, an air freshener for the car, a patch and other cool stuff in addition to the vinyl). A boxset that draws on specific references from songs on the album and uses those to decide what to include...since we don't have any songs yet I'm not sure what those things would be but like..idk, an illustrated map of places in the midwest that the songs reference or something would be cool.
  14. based on her glam in the announcement i would guess she's going to make at least a short appearance? jealous of all u LA ppl!
  15. ahhh so jealous los angeles! wonder how the event will be organized (where, how it'll be covid safe etc). anyone from LB going?
  16. love "wipe your tears"!
  17. my picture disc just shipped! i love a picture disc so am excited, though wish i came with a sleeve. anyone who got the other editions of Violet, would be able to upload images of the track credits?
  18. i think we could still get it in march– she was still working on Violet in late June
  19. i love how much lana singles out those sort of mundane moments of pleasure– reading a magazine in a walmart parking lot– as inspirational to her
  20. for sure– one of her moodiest, most evocative songs, it just transports me every single time i hear it. lana is so good at conjuring rich emotional textures in general, but this song is one of the best examples of how fully she can conjure a world through sound. wish she'd perform it live more often– i love the way the string arrangement get translated through the guitar.
  21. i whole heartedly agree w the Vice conversation about her poetry. i read a lot of contemporary poetry and lana's poem definitely call on the whitman/beat/confessional influences while also using lots of lana's idiosyncratic phrasings. it def fits in with a vein of current poetry that plays a lot with voice, affect, and emoji/text speak. if i were an editor i'd def cut some some lines but i think it's overall very cohesive, warm, and earnest, and her unique voice as a writer comes through really well.
