Just finished Maddadam trilogy by Margaret Atwood (SO good for u dystopian fiction lovers); now reading i laughed in pleasure: collected diaries of Lou Sullivan & adulthood rites by Octavia butler, both excellent so far.

this!! She’s been so low key since QFTC (sorry) but her looks w Gucci are some of my fav of all time and I’d love to see her serve over the top glam on the red carpet again- and of course the met gala would be the perfect place to do just that

COCC is a staggering achievement, so fucking slept on by the fandom, and will prob be praised and adored 10-20 years from now (i really do think QFTC and all its related shit killed every ounce of public goodwill she racked up during NFR era). esp after spending time w new lorde i am in awe of lana's ability to write the most beautiful, intricate vocal melodies, which COCC highlights so beautifully.

i find it so genuinely stupid but maybe that's the vibe she was going for?

the path, california, leader of the new regime, oceanic feeling, mood ring, SATNS, helen of troy, and like you said maybe solar power. having a hard time with the others due to lack of discernible/engaging vocal melody. that said i'm gonna keep listening– sometimes things do grow on you!– and then will make a shortened playlist out of my fav songs. i will say that whenever her next album comes i will be VERY interested to hear where she goes from here. i appreciate that she didn't try to make an album that mimicked either of her previous two in any way– she's obvs trying to move the needle on the direction of her career. interested to see what her live show set up will be, and if she'll rework the sound of older songs to match SP's acoustic vibes.

you & me vs. wild at heart

Ok after first full listen I def understand reviews saying the songs are tuneless- the vocal melodies in many of the songs are barely there. I love the path, SATNS and oceanic feeling, California is good and will prob grow on my more. Otherwise I am kind of perplexed- maybe the sparse melodies will grow on me? I also have to say that I just really, really don’t care for the early 2000s stuff she’s channeling. But even so, I’d be down to go there w her if there were killer melodies- they just aren’t there,, aside from the few songs I mentioned. The spoken word part from secrets is…so bad, goofy and sort of charmless?
