Quick searching I did: While the record deal establishes ownership of and royalties paid on the recordings made by an artist for a record label, the publishing deal is all about exploiting the copyright in the songs themselves (ie, melodies and lyrics), and ensuring that the songwriter gets paid whenever they’re played on the radio, online or live in front of an audience. There are hundreds of publishing companies operating in the global music industry, spearheaded by the heavyweight likes of Kobalt, BMG and Warner/Chappell. No matter how big or small any given publisher is, though, they all serve the same purpose: maximising the income generated by their artists’ songs. As well as doing everything they can to get the original recordings of those songs licensed for public play as often as possible, this also means convincing other musicians to record and release cover versions of them, thereby multiplying the revenue stream. Someone who has more knowledge can confirm but I don't think this impacts anything really? Hopefully the group she is with now is good and can maybe get some more exposure for her.

I agree, she got too many noms to go home empty handed so it’s safe to say at least 1 win is secured. I have a hard time believing A&W will win given the other nominees to be fair. I feel like they will go with a safer option for that category but who knows. But just for the song to be nominated there alone is a huge win for her. Istg, if this ends up her only win, I will personally assault one of the academy members. This is a threat.

2023 was great for leaks. I feel like we got a lot of songs that really spoke to Lana's mindset at the time, which I thoroughly enjoy because I'm so fascinated and amazed by her. Melancholia Come With Me Madly Pink Champagne Crazy For You and so many more I'm missing But these songs definitely paint a clearer picture (for me at least) about what Lana felt and was going through. Imagine how GUTTED I was reading Come With Me lyrics for the first time! Wow, I really hate that for her. But she came out on top like we always knew she would. But yeah, this was such an iconic year for leaks. I mean the fact that we have Madly and Pink Champagne alone is completely earth shattering for me. But everything else???? We were really fed a buffet this year. So many beautiful beautiful songs I love them all so much And how could I forget California?!?!?! Hauntingly gorgeous and breathtaking....

I think people are just really fascinated by her vision and her work ethic, and overall talent and ability to craft such specific type of songs so effortlessly. She was NOT lying about churning out novels in Brooklyn Baby. Someone needs to hold her captive and record a 5 hour interview asking her about all of this so we can put it to rest once and for all.

Thank you so much for this list. So by this timeline, Madly and the Pink Champagne version we have were worked on during UV-Dan times? Sorry, the dates confuse me lol. Still shocked she used a few of these for BB! Kinda wish she had used some others too and made it Tropico's Revenge. Wild One might've fit, and it would've been so cool to see songs like AF,FA or UFB in there, those are some of my all time favorites. In fact, most of this list includes my all time favorite tracks by her. Crazy how hard she snapped this era!!!!! We really need a documentary.

I was listening to NFR the other day (album) and I sort of finally understand what the naysayers mean about the songs 'going nowhere', not that they go nowhere but they kind of stay where they're at (imo) which is not a bad thing at all. I still love NFR (and all of Lana's music genuinely) but I definitely go back to it the least for some reason. I think NFR gives me more positive energy though and lately I've been more in the mood to sulk and listen to Wild At Heart or Kintsugi. But just a random thought I wanted to share

Thanks for this! Crazy to think we almost have everything from the UV era. Hopefully there’s more we don’t know about that comes out! The ‘Tropico’ era songs were so beautiful and special I wish she had released an album with songs like that but I can’t imagine her discography without UV. Would you pretty please list all Tropico related songs for me? Even ones that were potentially reworked for other albums I associate Madly, Earthquakes, UFB, Melancholia, Cult Leader with it. Wasn’t Pink Champagne on that leaked list too?
