  1. Did you seriously think that BB would be nominated for a Grammy? It's a cute album and all but I can easily name better alternative albums. BTD, PA, UV, HM, LFL and NFR were Grammy material and she still didn't win any. Unless she leaves her mellow authentic phase, finds a more upbeat sound and starts listening the public she won't be nominated anytime soon.

    Maggie Lindemann

Okay i needed this thread and too bad it's not more popular. I've followed Maggie since 2016-ish and it was always funny how she went from a basic IG baddie to a punk goth chick. It usually goes the other way around. Pretty Girl music video is peak 2016 basic bitch fashion that it made me nostalgic af of high school I absolutely love Paranoia except the song GASLIGHT! which I absolutely hate. I listened to pop punk back in my early teen days and watched enough Sims 2 teen pregnancy movies to be familiar with it. What I respect in Maggie's music is that the pop punk sound is not ripped off at all, at least not obviously. Meanwhile Olivia Rodrigo (Good For You) and Pale Waves (new album) completely ripped off the old sound and add nothing of their own. Pale Waves' album cover even tends to have a generic early 2000s style. Also I agree that Maggie should've been mentioned, it's probably because her music is not known enough. She's still very small and I don't know anyone who regularly listens to her besides me. I watch Fin sometimes and he did talk about the misogyny in the rock/metal scene. Women are slowly making a name for themselves but it's not enough, their audience are usually teenage girls and young adults.
  3. I remember it from the end of last year. The instrumental was kinda weird, I don't like the 'not quite rock electronic pop' type of instrumental. Her voice was kinda whiny. I wish the song was pop rock and her voice less dramatic.
  4. In terms of sales, I feel bad that BTD was her most sold album and since then she was never able to surpass it. I think that's an extreme bummer for every artist. It can look like the quality of her music is on a downfall since then when it's quite the opposite. We're all aware that people first listen to the most popular songs by someone they're not familiar with. I'm not saying that BTD is bad, it's literally in my wishlist, but people might think it's her only good album.
  5. The entire existence of Lana Del Rey village is a disaster. The site takes forever to load if your internet isn't extremely fast, it only shows post COCC stuff and as soon as you enter a room you have a button that takes you to the regular store. For the last part, isn't it better if there were multiple buttons and every one is for a different era. Also, printing a pic on a glass that has free space in certain areas can be damaged if you're using a dishwasher.

    Britney Spears

I'm not sure if this was already mentioned since I don't visit this thread regularly. This is horrifying. I understand that American rednecks are a little behind but this is straight up third world behavior. It's amazing how Britney even managed to become successful when growing up in such a horrible environment. Americans have the audacity think that their country has the best living standard while some people would've had a better life in Eastern Europe. When you see this then you completely understand the back stabbing and toxicity in that family.

    Britney Spears

I was shocked how many people still think that she's a crazy filthy drug addict and basically in the same place she was in her party girl phase, they're usually millennials who are stuck in 2007.

Me waiting for that baby girl she wishes to have... Want to see the look on people's faces who were saying how the conservatorship was a conspiracy..
  9. Guys, I'm not sure if this is aloud but I want to share that I made an Unpopular Opinions thread! Please check it out ...
  10. Guys, I made an Unpopular Opinions thread, so not Lana related. Please check it out and maybe post something 🖤
  11. I agree. I like the idea of a simple instrumental because a maximalist one wouldn't fit Lana BUT the one for the song sounds cheap and random. It's like they had a random beat ready and asked Lana and the dude to sing over it. I feel like a Cruel World or West Coast type of instrumental would fit more. I still love the song tho.
  12. Then people start simping over her on Tiktok, Gen Z who were in preschool during NTMT start streaming her music, Her music videos gain 50m views each, she gets invited to SNL and 20m monthly listeners on Spotify. Then Gen Z starts obsessing over soft grunge and early 2010s Tumblr culture like they obsess over 90s and 2000s pop culture. That would be actually nice.
  13. Dealer would've sounded perfect if it had a less monotone instrumental. I like the lyrics, their singing, the intonation, basically everything except the music. I feel like an instrumental similar to one in the Ultraviolence album would fit perfectly.
  14. Truee, I remember saving that song for later because of good comments and always skipping it or being like "Mehh" when listening to it.
  15. I can actually imagine him singing in the style like he did in Something In The Way. The lyrics don't matter, it's the familiar sound. No need to overanalyze my comment since it wasn't that deep. It's just that the song sounds too dark, rock-ish and depressing even for Lana's standards and it reminded my of Nirvana's ballads. Lana's "sad and depressing" songs kinda have a peaceful energy while Flipside sounds completely pessimistic. This last sentence is not criticism, just how I felt when listening.
  16. I noticed how her vocals were beautiful and probably in her top 3, but I still don't like the song lmao, just like I hate her vocals in Ride but love the song.
  17. What made me love Lana's songwriting is that it feels like an episode of some series. It's not very abstract and generic like other love or heartbreak songs. That makes me want to listen to the lyrics more and memorize them easily. Heroin and Sad Girl are also the type of songs that sound like an episode or a short movie.
  18. I recently got UV in the mail so I have a couple of comments. Flipside and Your Girl are not that good. Flipside sounds so heavily inspired by Nirvana that it feels like a cover song. I would still sacrifice The Other Woman for Flipside on the album because TOW is boooring af. Your Girl sounds like Guns and Roses when it comes to repetitiveness but I don't see the hate, probably because it's unreleased and not that relevant.

  20. I usually don't like greatest hits compilation especially in an era where custom playlists exist but in Lana's case casual listeners would probably love it and stans would probably hate it because it didn't contain their fave song but had a "basic" hit. I only like The Greatest Hits compilation by Joy Division because it has a chill vibe rather than a 'doomer about to kill himself' vibe like their albums. If it existed I assume it would've been something like this... Lana Del Rey - The Greatest Hits CD1 Born To Die Summertime Sadness National Anthem Radio Diet Mountain Dew Ride Body Electric West Coast Sad Girl Shades Of Cool Brooklyn Baby CD2 Freak Art Deco (with the transition 😍) High By The Beach Salvatore 13 Beaches Lust For Life Heroin Cherry Cinnamon Girl Doin' Time Fuck It, I Love you Mariners Apartment Complex I'm too lazy to make an imaginary playlist for COCC and BB lmao
  21. Not related to Lana but : *Me playing music on full blast at a house party* that person: can you tone it down? me: Love that song but I can't stop thinking of this video whenever I listen to it lmao Literally what I expected when going to a music festival at 19 dressed in boho/cottage core only to be harassed by drugged up dudes
  22. I fell asleep when listening to Daddy's Home.
  23. Well, Halsey's debut album was a success and Sky's pre-NTMT work was a flop. Are you aware of her flop pop past? It makes sense that they had no trust in Sky and didn't want to make the same mistake again. It's just how the industry works and it's so frustrating. I love 'If I Can't Have Love...' , it was the first album since Badlands that I adore from Halsey but I was so confused by the sudden extremely high budget. It looked like something Beyonce would do. You think that Halsey isn't that big of an artist but you would be shocked by how much Spotify monthly listeners she has and how much the average person knows about her. When you put all that together then Capitol investing in her over Sky it isn't that much of a surprise.
  24. I feel like the homegirl is too broke to release vinyl. Also I assume it will have a reasonable shipping price only for US and Canada.
  25. Because it's a favorite among stans. Theory 1# : Casual listeners sometimes listen to High By The Beach and Music To Watch Boys To. In my opinion she chose the wrong songs as singles/promo songs (except Freak) because they sound like generic LDR songs, which makes people believe the same for the album. I barely gave it a listen until late 2020 because I thought it was going to be something generic but fell in love immediately. Theory 2# : People were still in the UV dark mood and weren't ready to for a sunny ethereal era of Honeymoon, TLY, Salvatore etc. Maybe if she released it in 2016 it would've been better. Not only that but if she released those three songs I mentioned as singles with music videos I assume I would've been a much bigger album.
