“Lana Del Rey” Name Progression Discussion
grandpas glass replied to MakingOut's topic in Lana Thoughts
The name Lana Del Rey came about during a trip to Miami with her sister. She wanted a name that sounded exotic and reminded her of the Florida coast. In an interview with British Vogue in 2011, she explained that Lana Del Rey "sounds beautiful when it comes from the tip of the tongue." The name is a combination of actress Lana Turner and the rather obscure car model Ford Del Rey from the 80s. Lana changed her name to create coherence in her work. She wanted her name to reflect the music she wanted to create, and Lana Del Rey certainly does. Her music speaks of vintage glamour, California as a state and culture, the beach and much more. -
this song by Alexa Feser will be released in two days and connects Lana with my hometown update: the official video

Lana Surpasses Beyonce In Monthly Spotify Fans
grandpas glass replied to Strangelove's topic in Lana Thoughts
Lana benefits a lot from her first albums, Beyoncé was very successful with Renaissance last year, so I don't know if that statistic means much either -
users on albumoftheyear.org have tagged him with 'industry plant' maybe he has a chance for a Grammy now

what if Rob's album is the reason for (almost) everything? She closed her official instagram account mainly to attract people to her private account. All the private stuff, family photos, even some songs on her new album were just aimed to prepare fans for Rob's album. And now that the goal was achieved, she closed Honeymoon. We may never be this close again to her, but I think it's likely she'll open her @lanadelrey account again soon.

Actually, we don't know anything about her relationships, just a few things that have come out to the public.

Hello Lanaboards Community! Today I would like to introduce you to a band that I think is absolutely worth listening to: Slowdive. This British rock band was formed in Reading, Berkshire in 1989 and consists of Rachel Goswell (vocals and guitar), Neil Halstead (vocals and guitar), Christian Savill (guitar), Nick Chaplin (bass) and Simon Scott (drums). Slowdive is known for their unique dream-pop and shoegaze sound, which enjoyed great popularity in the 1990s. The band has released four studio albums, three compilation albums, five EPs, five singles and four music videos. Their debut album "Just for a Day" was released in 1991. Although it initially received mixed reviews, their second album "Souvlaki" is now considered one of the best albums of the 1990s and one of the greatest shoegaze albums of all time. Slowdive disbanded in 1995, but reunited in 2014 and performed at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona. Since then they have been active and released their self-titled album "Slowdive" in 2017. Their sound is characterized by atmospheric harmonies, psychedelic guitar layers and ambient production. Influences range from folk rock to dub to ambient techno. The band members themselves name bands like Sonic Youth, Can, The Byrds and My Bloody Valentine as sources of inspiration. Since we are all Lana Del Rey fans, I thought Slowdive might be an interesting addition to our musical discussions. You might like her dreamy sounds and fascinating melodies if you like Lana Del Rey's atmospheric songs. In anticipation of their new single "Kisses" releasing in two days, check out some of their music on YouTube: Let's discuss Slowdive here, share their albums, songs and influences, and maybe even find out if there's any overlap between Slowdive and Lana Del Rey fans. I look forward to hearing your opinions and thoughts! Have fun exploring Slowdive! 🎶

alright, but they do art rock and are critically high acclaimed, and Lana isn't even art pop

Creep / Get Free is the only common thing I can think of.

Lana should do what she feels most comfortable with , not what others expect her to do or be.
-
just because there's a very popular artist on it, all classical musicians will hate her now

thinking about that we get no honeymoon posts the next weeks and months makes me sad
