    No

Anyway i hear in Cola always 'take a ray ban air' instead of 'decorate my neck'

Pepsi Max  I've never had Diet Mt. Dew actually, don't even think they sell it here.

Her vocal delivery on Ultraviolence is out of this world. You get the sultry deep voice but you also get that light and fluffy high voice. If anything on this album is good, it's her singing.

The production compliments the vocals. I absolutely love the band backing her; it's as if it was meant to be.

Yeah that's exactly what I think happened, especially if you go back to the direct quotes she gave in these articles: http://www.nme.com/news/lana-del-rey/72087 and http://www.nme.com/news/lana-del-rey/68937

"West Coast inspired" and "moved on to a more spiritual place lyrically" both sound like AFFA and Hollywood, and less like FMUTT/Cruel World/Sad Girl/almost everything on UV. I fully believe the album she is describing in these articles is not Ultraviolence the way we know it. I think West Coast (the demo), Brooklyn Baby, Old Money, ITH, and Black Beauty were the ones intended for the original album. When you put them in a playlist with AFFA/Hollywood/maybeJFKandStarryEyed, you kind of understand where she had been going originally and I think it would have been so beautiful.

That makes sense to me. I remember when those songs were leaked, that people wrote on the internet that they were supposed to be on Lana's new album.. But releasing an album when most songs of it were early leaked doesn't seems like a good idea.. So maybe the old UV was suppose to be the album with those leaked songs, but then it might had a different name and concept?

    Lucky Ones
    The iconic Cola
Flipside is imo one of her most iconic songs

I think it's because there are so many BtD demos available that the Paradise and UV ones aren't available; Lana's record team got a lot smarter with securely storing their songs on the internet. Besides, I don't think Paradise has any demos as Lana said in an interview something about Paradise being recorded 'all in one take', suggesting no demos were produced for it. The only one that (apparently) exists is the Laptop Demo of Cola.

It's because Lana's hard drive was hacked in 2011, and I believe most of them were probably on there at the time. Seeing as how Paradise and Ultraviolence weren't written, they wouldn't have been available.

I think the original pre-Dan was supposed to run along the lines of "Paradise 2", like someone else said. AFFA, Hollywood, Starry Eyed, JFK, etc all sounded like they could have been put on Paradise and those were the ones she was, before the leak, intended to put on the album. Not to mention she described the album as "spiritual" early in 2013 which is far from what the UV we have now is. I think songs like PWYC, MPG, and Sad girl would have been outtakes or maybe added on as bonus tracks and ITH/Black Beauty would be actual album tracks. I really wish that the "first UV" album would have come into existence because it was just the kind of music I really needed, but oh well, it didn't, and I'm constantly angry about it but oh well . (aside: I think the snippets of Marina's new album sound like a Marina version of Paradise and I'm so damn excited) The UV we know today could have come afterwards and I'd have been happy having both.

The only thing is that I consider the threshold where "old UV" and "new UV" to have come when AFFA, JFK, BB, etc were leaked. I think it was at this moment she changed the direction of the album rather than when she met Dan. When she said she "re-worked" it I just assume that meant production because I don't think Lana would want someone to completely change the direction/mood/tracks of her work. Or maybe she just got inspired by the new sounds, I don't know.

Is it me or is it weird that there are many demos to be found on the internet of the album Born to Die, but almost nothing from Paradise and UV?

You don't like Ribs? They're so juicy and meaty with BBQ sauce :0

So i checked her album and yes it's not bad, but i'm not excited either. Guess i need to give it more tries to be more excited.
Highlights for me are still Team and Tenniscourt. Ribs is the only one besides Royals that i didn't like at all.

    :defeated:

Well didn't she suffer from depression? You have better days with some forms of depressions so that might explain the thing with her boyfriend.. and the depression why she cancels..

But still i think it is more a lost for her than for the radiostation. This wont do her good, not for her carrier and not for her image.

This. I heard royals before it blew up and didn't like it at all but then tennis court came out and I loved it and didn't even realize it was the same girl my friend showed me before that I could not get into. Tennis court is her best song but it's also a lot more like the rest of the album than royals.

i'm really worried that somehow, lana's smoking will eventually have a negative effect on her voice, beauty, or health.
i wish lana and lorde were at least somewhat friendly.
i have a sex/masturbation playlist, and lana has 8/21 songs on it

Smarty, boarding school, Summer of Sam and Money Power Glory were the songs for me that have grown on me. Also Burning Desire.. First i found her breathing annoying in the song, but now i love the song.

I didn't have a problem with Sirens. Just that it sounded like an other artist instead of Lana. Her voice here is so different.

Of course Lana's version is waaaay better, much darker and more sophisticated. :-)

Especially if you don't like Royals. Tennis Court is more of the "essential song" that kinda captures the mood and sound of the whole thing

I take back what I said. I listened to the album twice yesterday xd.I think it depends on my mood.
  21. xr2 liked a post in a topic by radian in How Do You Relate To Lana ...
First I have to say the thing that drew me to Lana in the first place was her voice. Although it's not a hard fast rule, when it comes to my taste in music if I don't dig your voice I'm not sticking around, no matter how good the production is. Lana's voice, just the depth and richness of it, is the biggest reason I love her. But as I listened to her music more and more I realized just how much I connected to the lyrics. I too am a recovering addict (my signature is facetious), and I feel her songs address this issue in a very clever, unique, but honest, way. Along with that is a weakness for dangerous men, feeling dedicated to others who aren't to me, getting myself into dangerous situations. I also have a love of vintage, antiquity, particularly the 60's and 70's. Ever since I was a child and first became aware of the past I've been obsessed with it. Angel Forever mentioned above that they feel like they missed out on something when looking at the past, and I feel that way too. Lana clearly has a true reverence for the past that she expresses beautifully in her lyrics. The last "biggie" in regards to how I relate to Lana is that I feel I've had a lot of obstacles to overcome throughout my life, a lot of hardship. And there are lots of little things. I love Brooklyn, I really love California and the ocean, I know how it is to not really have a "home" and make one for yourself as best you can through others. I like to think if I ever met her we would click but another way we're similar is moodiness so maybe not lol. Not that that would happen anyway but you get what I'm saying.

... or do you? Does it play a role in how you appreciate her music?

For me, I started out just loving her voice, but at some point I became - let's face it - obsessed. I found I could relate to her and her music on many levels, but there were SO many things I could not relate to that I found fascinating because they were so different from me.

    Ways I relate to her:
Her undercurrents of depression, understanding of loss, deep love, falling for dark and sad men, fascination with death, love of Whitman, similar age, love of the 1950s, need to have alone time yet doesn't like to be alone, health issues, ability to maintain love for someone who no longer loves you back.

    Ways I don't relate:
Her past alcohol and drug use, living on the edge, her independence at a very young age, her apparent sexual history seems kind of wild, hip hop references, love of Brittany Spears.

But no matter what, everything she does is interesting to me and adds to the legend that is Lana the Queen. What about you?!
