  1. Glad someone is saying this! Lana punk'd her fans with this video! Every time the camera moves in and I think the story is going to begin . . . punk'd again! The camera moves out and we have to see the crew, camera, and mics! Especially I resent the car scene at the start. I didn't know how much I want to "suspend disbelief" and lose myself in a scene until the camera pulls back and you see the guy pumping the hood to make the car look real life like it is bobbing up and down while driving. Yes, I feel burned! Tom Hanks famously said "there is no industry like the film industry which gives away all its trade secrets" because Castaway was promoted using special effects behind the scenes. so Tom Hanks was angry. So am I about Lana's video. It's another Lana video I watched once and never again! BTW, researching for this post, it appears Hanks just wrote a "novel" about the film industry. Haven't read a book cover-to-cover in years, but I might have to make time for this one! "Novel" is industry-speak for "expose, but your lawsuit against me won't hold up in court." Tom Hanks wrote an expose. There is going to be tea. But, he doesn't want to get sued, so he's calling it a "novel."
  2. Edited my post about Anne Hathaway's previous looks. I am sorry I was harsh. The "pair of 22s" remark is inappropriate and isn't true for the pink dress. I deleted it. I tried to be slick and ironic, but trying to be that way isn't a good look on me! My comedienne manager at a women's apparel shop in the mall I worked in the late 80's, when I used to weight 120-ish and go braless, said they look like a pair of 22s staring you in the face! I laughed! Back then. I thought it is brilliant. When I scrolled through Anne Hathaway's previous red carpet looks I harshly criticized, trying to be funny, I think now: "They're not too bad!" Here is the link, and I removed my criticism - sorry of my out of bounds remark about "pair of 22s" I quoted from my comedienne manager.
  3. Another Anne, popular here. Anne is giving Bridgette Bardot - she's never done it! Her looks were always constrained by designers . . . Previous Anne Hathaway red carpets. Changing this post to be positive on Anne's previous looks. And I think Met Gala 2023 is the best! This at first I wanted to be funny and said harsh critiques, but now that I scroll through, they are not bad. I was phony, trying to be slick. That's not a good look for me. I will try to be normal! And Anne's red carpet looks don't look bad, now that I scroll through. Anne is just so thin the heavy fabric falls off of her in places. But, the dresses are not vulgar! Previous Anne Hathaway red carpet looks - what do you think? The above, with only one dangling earring, shows some playfulness . . . So the conclusion is from an oldster who was disappointed in every Anne Hathaway red carpet, who is an actress who can act, is beautiful, appears nice, is I am proud of last night's Met Gala look with the Lana-style glamourous Bridget Bardot hair, and flattering dress.
  4. Thank you, SoftwareUpgrade . . . Enjoyed all the comments. Honorable mention: FKA Twigs who exudes Hollywood glamour in this satin column gown cut on the bias with frayed tweed collar and lace panels . . . This is a large image so you can zoom in on the details. Too bad about the camera behind her amazing updo!
  5. Before this thread ends, my three pics for Best Dressed: Lea Michele: This photo shows the movement with the fringe at the hem as she walks. I like the sleek bob, the dress looks demure despite the cutouts, the asymetrical cuffs with fringe, the nails - it is a different look than all the others. Well done! Billie Eilish slayed with intricately braided hair and barrettes, the lace, beaded macrame, jewelry, subdued makeup, body short, hooks and eyelets, long gloves . . . This image is 4096x4096, so you can enjoy the detail. Anne Hathaway took a page out of Lana Del Rey's glamorous hair at the Billboard Women in Music Award show. This Versace tribute to Chanel piecing tweed with safety pins in white is beautiful!
  6. That was amazing, to hear and see the reaction all around! A fan here said the audience was sedate, but I think they were trying to take in the soft vocals and screamed in between. They liked it! Of course they didn't know the lyrics, being a Lana song which was just released! Is that Margaret to the left, in a blue top sitting up high on the drum platform? It looks like it could be her, with hair in a bun. Surely she would have wanted a prime view of the live debut of her song Jack and Lana wrote!
  7. An educated guess is Big Sur. Lana is among the redwoods, which themselves remind people of a cathedral. Photo: TW Mitchell TW Mitchell's description of the place is: Big Sur on Highway 1 is a wild place full of windswept cliffs, wildflowers, rugged beaches, and deep canyons full of coastal redwoods. This stretch of highway between the Carmel Highlands and San Simeon is the longest and most scenic stretch of undeveloped coastline in the contiguous United States and is one of the most beautiful coastlines anywhere in the world. If you have an SUV take the Old Coast Road at Bixby Bridge and explore the back canyons and cattle country of of this little known road. You will pass through forests of redwoods and colorful chaparral in the Santa Lucia Mountains. This is a long drive of two or more hours from one end to the other so be prepared for solitude and vastness away from the crowds of people at the state parks. The description, above, sounds typical Lana and the Grant family exploration goals. Could they be scouting a wedding venue? Deep in the woods, remote, "vastness away from the crowds."
  8. Lana fans are the bomb! Artistic, kind, generous, smart and positive. . . Lana fans have the good sense of humor! I enjoyed experiencing the pre- and post-release of Ocean Blvd here. Kristijan Majic made the original Cherry Blossom remix . . . Kristijan Majic kindly responded to a request for remix I made for a different artist than Lana: Ian Isiah, and offered two different versions. Here is one in a fan tribute video I made of Ian Isiah with Krisijan's remix #1: AnneAmandaDraws on twitter created the VideoConnoisseur logo I use after I admired a Lana drawing she made of Lana at the 2018 Grammys: Smart and artistic are Lana fans across the globe! Or I will say, creative.
  9. Thanx for reminding me. This is my fav live, last concert of the Paradise tour at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery . . .
  10. Here is the page with the video of Joan telling a joke - is that Lana laughing at the end? Good joke . . . https://www.nytimes.com/video/players/offsite/index.html?videoId=100000008865798
  11. The Kate Bush reference - yes! Try opening the article from the tweet. Let me know!
  12. April 22nd, 2023: Editing to add another video upload. This one from Eron Linver appears to be only a few audience memers deep from the stage . . It is filmed the closest to the stage! Now there are five full live versions of the whole song! To me, this is the video release! I much prefer these to a directed video . . . I liked Doin Time, but I can watch the live and feel like listening to the live debut of Margaret fresh . . . This upload is from jennyb2000 on the 19th of April. Here are the other three youtube videos of the full song, of which Elle posted two . . . Center of stage, no intro, courtesy of Kelsey Likes Things on yt: Slightly left of center courtesy alibye77 on yt: Right of stage, courtesy Lauren Garner on yt: Which one is your fav? We are all video connoisseurs . . . Which is the best one?

    Bartender

That is lovely - what you wrote! Made my eyes water, I cried a little. Plus, you said it in a nutshell. If Lana's songs didn't speak to people, she wouldn't give hope to fans around the world. Somewhere I read Ocean Blvd is making a splash as far as worldwide album sales.
  14. Good going! I was going to post the youtube video you just did. That makes 3 full song videos, from 3 different perspectives of the stage, all worth a listen!

    Bartender

I took your quote to Bartender lyrics, because Lana references Heart with its hit, Love Alive 'Cause they don't know yet what car I drive I'm just tryna keep my love alive Instead of post a fan cam of Love Alive - they are fewer and far between before the age of the smartphone! here is a '70's live tv broadcast of Soul of the Sea: Today you turned around to my heart's call This tiny life ain't been strangled after all Time, time, time, time Never ask what's become of us Just dedicate your sorrow Here and now To the soul of the sea And me . . . - https://genius.com/Heart-soul-of-the-sea-lyrics Being an "Ann" enthusiast, you see why I am excited about Lana, and feel Ann passed the torch to her! Lana is student of the '70's - her Dad's era, and I'm his age . . . Here are two side by sides for a funny tweet I created a couple years ago, saying Ann passes the torch to Lana - neither want to be the the tree which falls silently in the woods. There is the debate: if a tree falls in the woods, and noone hears it, did it make noise?
  16. Sorry you're not feeling well. Wash your hands often and drink tea. It stands to reason streaming platforms may be undermined because of corporate sabotage.
  17. Obsessed with your comment! Here is a 2nd live of today's Margaret performance, and I'll review it, below: The song starts a minute in, so I timestamped it there to skip the intro. Thanx to Lana Del Rey and Jack Antonoff for the care they take setting up the audio, to give the audience a treat of a softer song, where the voices do not get lost under the buzz of plugged in instruments giving off an electronic hum . . . From the two youtube videos shot from different sides of the stage way back, Lana & Jack's voices are clear, showcasing Lana's "three octave captivating and highly emotive [voice], ranging from high notes in a girlish timbre to jazzy ornaments in her lower gesture." - Wikipedia Lana Del Rey Voice and timbre. I am discovering Jack as an artist, and appreciate his vocal here, esp. when he sings "run away like your head is on fiiiiirrrreee" and his voice trills as it trails off on his verse, he's showcasing his softer vocals. Lana did a cute lyric change up 2nd chorus, from "like Hollywood and me" to "like Charleston and me." In the crescendo, Lana sings: The diamond on your ring The soul that you bring to the table The one that makes me sing In a minor key 'Cause when you know, you know When you know, you know it's beautiful, no flaws. Lana hits those notes. What a moment! Followed by two soft saxophones - Evan Smith & Zem Audu - for subtle and soft receding horns . . . They slayed! And the audience - so cute - barely could contain themselves as Lana's fans do at her concerts, cheering in appreciation, then quieting themselves so they can take in the soft notes! Thank you to alibye77 & Lauren Garner for the first two youtube videos. Note about Lana's appearance: in still photos Lana looks amazing, but the videos show how the dress makes sense with the breeze blowing the ruffles and her hair worn hippie-style, long and straight.
  18. Lovely! Okay. I will step away from the computer, now. Supposed to be, Lana Del Rey and Beck guest performed on Bleachers' set. FJM comes on in an hour - I might check twitter if there is a guest appearance by Lana! Stepping away, now. Wow this is gorgeous! One last one . . .
  19. By the time they figured out what is going on it is already the chorus?
