São Paulo, Brazil @ MITA Festival - June 3rd, 2023

Wait until the US tour playing ballrooms with good acoustics. If properly mic'd the same set would reach its full potential. We had glimpses of its greatness, with the huge production, costumes, phenom background singers, and a couple new musicians in the mix. It is good if I never meet Lana. If she is smoking a cigarette, I will grab it out of her mouth and drop it in Nicki's beer! Thanx for noticing! Maybe they pulled back to let Lana's voice shine more. I missed Melodye, Shikena & Voncielle's swelling chorus at the end of Ocean Blvd . . . that was there in Rio de Janeiro. Did she sack that stage manager / drum tech Will Whitney? In that case, they had to wing it or put a new stage manager in place. Did it play a part in the 40-minute delay, not having a stage manager? Or, a new one? From the snippets it looked like Lana and band did a great job! -

It HAS to have been a nice show! Brazil fans come through - uploads start showing up on yt. This one, even though it's singalong, shows the cool vibe, how the audience is enjoying, the pretty stage and costumes . . . When the drum kicks into high gear at 3:30 for the build to the climax, then the ladies stand up to improvise on the finale, it is gorgeous! -

Lana's voice stands out more from this recording of The Grants. But, you have to listen on twitter. -

May I preface, there is nothing that relieves stress like reading you-all's funny observations on Lanaboards . . . I said, I'm out, because the US Mafia has the control of Ticketmaster, Livenation, and the global festivals, so that the experience is rank. I don't want to watch the artistry of Lana, her band, dancers, etc. undermined. But I needed relief, so I read the comments. And I found this excellent twitter coverage by a Brazil journalist, André Aloi, which he was there and uploaded snippets to twitter, including this Summertime Sadness, below. So, if you visit, there are several snippets covering the concert, using a crowd noise-cancelling feature. The audio is a little muffled, but better than screaming in your ear! Enjoy! I always say, Lana is a great live performer who turns her studio songs into a new thing live. We know she adds a verse, or change of lyrics. Here the new drummer, Carlin White, adds fills in new places. He composes his drum part like a duet to Lana's voice and the instruments! Like on the oh, oh oh oh oh, third oh there is a fill or trill of drums, then the bass does a sliding note - très cool! The videos sound better on twitter because there is some sort of compression distortion here. -

Do you think Lana let Will the stage manager go right before the show? He's on contract. I do not know what the legalities are . . . This person tweets frequently (I don't have IG account) -

It stressed me out and made me feel conflicted the amazing drummer on Saturday for Rio di Janero would post an IG like that . . . But the drummer Saturday night IS NOT Will W. Whitney . . . Someone speculated it is It makes an good trivia question: who is the drummer for Lana's live tour? -
Had to look that up! It IS pretty!
-
Did you see the funny photos Charlie posted? Like father like son.

"generalising about any people or place is usually unfair on the majority." Take that "usually" out! When IS it fair to generalize about a majority?

So sorry! I read that thing, and I thought, I've done some mistakes in life. Doozies. The problems of the world seem in a nutshell: implicating an entire race because of a few bad apples? Or, one? Or an entire public service sector, like the police? This guy's gotta go home straight away! This is what he wants. Bye!

No. Lolapalooza 2018 in Brasil Lana was mic'd right! Listen to the quality of Lana's voice on the sha la la la la and the trill at the end as she improvises at the beginning of White Mustang . . . in front of 150,000 in the audience? I remember reading . . . There were 300,000 tickets sold for that year. Lana's voice was recorded properly for Multishow at the 2018 Lolapalooza, example, above ^^.! That year, Lana had master live sound engineer Kevin Madigan. It is so interesting to me, I read all about him! He is Front of House, mixing and recording engineer, in front of a tour console for two decades . . . I don't know if he specifically was at that Lans's Lolapalooza Brasil, but it sounds like it! He was in charge at the US leg of LA to the Moon. It got great reviews. The Toronto Star reviewer said it is only huge sports hall concert he left and his ears weren't ringing! -

Concert ticket sales and recordings are gatekept by organized crime. I can't bear to watch if they sabotage Lana's vocals at festivals, so she has to project her voice to fight the PA system the event organizers control. Everybody else sounded good, but Lana's voice sounded like a digital feed which wasn't amplified! Listen to the difference as KT Pierce demonstrates switching from PC to microphone in this song upload: Fighting a bad PA system is a losing battle for a singer. The distinguishing thing about Lana, from live fancams is how Lana delightful singing style and voice gets showcased. But, that is over. And fans are saying it is Lana's fault. I do not agree at all. But nobody wants to accept the reality how the US Mafia has taken over ticket sales and the live music experience. They herd ticket holders into overcrowded venues like cattle. You couldn't pay me to attend a Travis Scott concert with its deafening PA, then he heavily relies on auto tune, but I might have given a chance as studio artist, until ten kids got suffocated to death at his Astroworld concert, being squashed together worse than cattle. With the mafia taking over on the festival circuit, we don't know what tragedy might befall even at a Lana concert! And, I can't bear to watch. I'm out. Compare the 2018 Lalopallooza Multishow. You can hear the band well, but Lana's voice is the star. Not at this past week's Mita Festival! All cylinders were firing except Lana's mic and amplification. -

This concert is appetizer to the next ones! It is so good! Next time the mic situation will be fixed. What I said: The mic or monitor becoming unplugged is what caused the glitchy audio at the start! Lana is fastidious with her vocals audio quality, so this mic slip caused what could have been a disaster, but it got fixed when she changed her costume. That is why I think she took extra time in the dressing room scene . . . to fix the mic issue. Alex saw what was going on and tried to help. Here is an upload of the first two songs: A&W and Y&B. Notice the feedback after Alex threads the mic or monitor back in! Lana's voice came back, but it wasn't 100%. It is a massive success! I am moved by the elegant costume, the juxtoposition of gritty A&W to the refined and delicate Y&B, Lana's Hollywood star look, the camera angles, showing Lana against the ceiling light like it's a bare bulb during Y&B, the ballet quality choreography. If there were audio issues this first show, the audience made up for it with their enthusiastic singing and the emotion of Lana's reunion with Brazil! -

No, Alex's fingers are holding wires, and she was trying to thread a connector in. The costume might have been part of the issue. It was definitely the mic/monitor setup, what Lana depends on. Lana bravely soldiered on. She wasn't nervous, but upset. It was partially fixed or improved on during the costume change. -
