Lana's TikTok impact on songs going viral (Discussion)
americangothic replied to americangothic's topic in Lana Thoughts
Here's a TikTok video of a guy talking about these 2 songs (Living Legend, Sweet Carolina) having a revival and getting great streams with proof that the songs are doing great since 2021 for the unbelievers, lol: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMk6BoG4G/ -

2024 Lipsters Awards (Nominations open NOW - Jan. 1st)
americangothic replied to Elle's topic in Contests
AAAWWW I didn't expect to be taken into consideration for being a possible nomination, thank you @Embach 🖤. Underrated— it makes sense lol, I have a hard time being active, I try to keep it low-key and come here and there if I have something interesting to add, hehe. It's my thing! Very honored, and also happy for all of the possible candidates, I'm sure all of the ones who end up being nominated and eventually win (or just being nominated) will deserve it 🖤 Such a lovely community to be a part of! -

yeah, no shade to Drew, I like him, but he's more of an instrumentalist than a producer. A master of strings and piano virtuoso, for sure. But his songs are better when he works with other people. His solo production on 'Beautiful', 'Violets for Roses' and 'Fingertips' makes the songs kind of uneventful. I remember literally falling asleep to his 2 back to back "Blue Banisters" tracks on the tracklist, thank God "Dealer" always woke me up, lol. -

Does anyone feel like "Ocean Blvd" set the bar too high for the follow up? Like someone else said, it felt like the quintessential Lana Del Rey record. Something I personally was not sure if would be possible after Chemtrails/Banisters (not bad records, just overshadowed by NFR! opus and COVID). -

I see why everybody's having PSTD from the 'Blue Banisters' era with that cover. But she worked with most of the same collaborators from 'Ocean Blvd', so that gives me hope. -
Lana's TikTok impact on songs going viral (Discussion)
americangothic replied to americangothic's topic in Lana Thoughts
Absolutely! How could I forget about 'Boarding School', lol. A Lana classic among TikTok fans (which includes actual kids in school, who surprisingly loves the lyrics) Something I have noticed is how younger generations tend to really like and praise 'Blue Banisters' (album) which is sweet and surprising. I have a 13 year old cousin who was born just when "Born to Die" was released and now she has a whole Lana playlist on Spotify including deep cuts like 'Living Legend'. Yes, I do feel old as hell, but isn't it amazing how Lana has stood the test of times, like classic and iconic artists like David Bowie and Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac do. -
As you all are probably aware at this point in space and time (2024) Lana's cult following on TikTok is absolutely massive. She has people from different generations being introduced to her as a singer, her aesthetic, vibe and her whole catalogue of songs. As well as older generations of fans remembering and celebrating her impact on the music business in a little bit more than a decade. Whether is by using her song for edits, thirst traps, or creating random trends, it all helps the fact that her music go viral once in a while. That's basically the reason why "Say Yes to Heaven" got officially released and now has become one of her most streamed songs! What's your take on this, as a Lana fan? Being respectful, of course. I'm aware some older fans might not like the newer legion of stans. Have you noticed this? Do you enjoy people finding out about Lana's music? Do you usually go on TikTok and see Lana songs here and there? In my personal opinion, I love this, lol. This phenomenon has contributed to Lana getting bigger and making "Tunnel" as big as it was (for her). She has always had a loyal fanbase, for sure, but after "Chemtrails" and "Blue Banisters" she came back as big and strong as she was during the "NFR!" days. Coincidentally, a lot of songs started to go viral during the Covid days. What songs have you noticed going viral on TikTok? List them and I'll add them below! "Born to Die" (2012) "Paradise" (2012) "Ultraviolence" (2014) "Honeymoon" (2015) "Lust for Life" (2017) "Norman Fucking Rockwell!" (2019) "Chemtrails Over the Country Club" (2021) "Blue Banisters" (2021) "Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd" (2023) Other Songs Unreleased Songs

Did you see Lykke's last post? She posted a board with a tracklist of the songs off "I Never Learn" album including outtakes! https://imgur.com/gallery/Oa9ud4K Track List (in case you can't open the link): [in bold are the outtakes] -Never Gonna Love Again -No Rest for the Wicked -No One Ever Loved -I Never Learn -Gunshot -More Than I Want You -Just Like A Dream -Heart of Steel -Love Me Like I'm Not Made of Stone -Silver Line -Sleeping Alone -Felt the Bleed -Midnight Shining -Let's Forget Together -Prayer for the Damned -I Lied I wish she would have released all of these instead of just attaching "Midnight Shining" to the 10th anniversary edition of the album, which was so lazy. This is one of my favorite albums of all time interestingly enough, this confirms "No One Ever Loved" featured in "The Fault in Our Stars" movie was indeed an outtake from the era. Also, the list didn't include leaked tracks "Burning Bridges" and "Heavenly Lies".

This whole thing feels surreal, like a fever dream. I still need some time to have a perspective, as a fan. Trying to find a middle ground between 'The thing I want the most for her is happiness, she deserves it' and 'I don't like the idea of her finding her happiness next to a guy with such beliefs'. I just hope critics/news don't start bringing up his Trump posts or all of her "Lasso" reviews will bring up: "Del Rey, recently married to a Republican anti-Kamala transphobic alligator tour guide". It'll be "Chemtrails" all over again... Do we know if Patricia was invited? lol
-
not her getting married at a swamp it's giving Shrek. Not gonna lie, tho. Her marrying a Trump supporter makes me sick, and question everything she stands for. Yes, you love the person, but the person you decided to share a life with has beliefs and ideologies you are accepting or even identifying with...

I LOVE IT. I hope we get an "I Never Learn: 10th Year Anniversary" with this song and other outtakes like "Burning Bridges", "Heavenly Lies" and "Felt the Bleed" + "No One Ever Loved"

well, tbf "The Mirror" (or whatever it's called now) and its chords sound very similar to "Cola", so, who knows 👀 We"ll probably confirm the truth of this insider's words with time

Reading, ENG @ Reading & Leeds Festival - August 24th, 2024
americangothic replied to Elle's topic in 2024 Performances
the tone-deafness of Lana choosing "Bartender" and "The Grants" to perform at FESTIVALS over several songs on her discography that are better suited for those type of crowds "Arcadia" can stay, I will always defend that song to death. I'm one of those 3 "Arcadia" stans -
I loved all if your ideas, and I'm definitely manifesting: "Southern Gothic" vibe/aesthetic/songtitle. Orville Peck. Ethel Cain. Of course I'm being delusional, but who knows. Also, am I the only one who would prefer a 2024 singles releases and a 2025 album release? This year, every single artist and their mothers are releasing music, so it's a little too crowded. I wouldn't want "Lasso" to gwt lost in the shuffle...

someone said there's an Emile Haynie version of "Fine China". But I don't know how true that is, or if it was meant for "Ultraviolence". -

Happy 10th year anniversary, this record will always be Lana's most meaningful album to me, in terms of the moment and headspacr I was when it came out 🖤🌹 I made a little edit: https://www.tiktok.com/@sadsongsmakemehappy/video/7379839275388374277?_t=8nApZnmyPxN&_r=1 -
Honestly, I'm happy that she's not rushing "Lasso". I wouldn't be mad if we get a 2025 release. Everyone and their mothers are releasing music this year like it's the end of the world, I wouldn't like her album getting lost in the shuffle.
