Growing up is realizing Track 10 / BIOYL discourse is futile. They both represent the dichotomy of the social experiment that is Charli XCX's music discography.

I'm gonna be contrarian today, but this demand for artists to CONSTANTLY output and keep all lines of communications saturated is a bit unrealistic.

Like....y'all ever sit and wonder how ever did MJ and Madonna conquer the globe of pop stardom in the 80s and 90s? They weren't shelling out constant media and updates daily, and we still got there.

Edit: I think we as a society and culture have attributed "noise" = "doing the work". I think people sometimes go "oh look, person is posting this, promoting that, serving looks, putting out material. They must be doing good and successful!!!" - I think people sometimes see near-constant activity as something of merit and prescribe value to artists and bodies of work based on that factor, but also like....we're over here lobbying for 6 hours a day/4 day work weeks, no emails after 5PM, and a month of PTO time off as standard labor practice. Celebs and artists should get the same considerations, ya feel?

We will be okay with periods of silence. Our boredom is a sign that we, ourselves, are boring. It is time we touch grass and be patient.

Exactly what moment I'm thinking of. XCX World being the biggest "loss for the culture" despite her saying it, and everything around it, being painful because the art never got to live the life she intended for it, as well as the interviews and comments where she hinted being really upset by the whole ordeal when it happened...
 
This could be her way of "taking back that power" and saying "It's obvious that people want this shit, and they're hell bent on getting it behind my back and wishes no matter what, so might as well have some control in the process and stop working "the old way" with my material and take a new approach."

It's more of the same from her and AG so I get why her stans eat it up but I do think it's weird how many people wanted it on the album when it doesn't sonically fit at all

Her 2019 fader interview I think really showed her true thoughts on it - that the music was ruined for her as soon as it leaked. Maybe the whole XCX world debacle was still super raw for her and she just wanted to focus on music that was actually coming out. But I think a lot of artists are missing out on extra streams by not taking advantage of the leaks.

I think by "releasing" she means releasing them into the world via live shows/dj sets but maybe I'm wrong. This also sort of confirms my theory that she (her camp) leaked the barbie demos + make u mine and snuck the girl (demo) in there to gauge fan reaction about the new sound/style 

i already just know some angels are gonna be like “omg these demos are so much better than the entirety of brat” when they get released cuz we’re annoying like that!
