Idk if this is a particularly unpopular opinion, but Sirens is Lana's worst record imo.
Don't get me wrong, some songs such as Sirens (/drive by/for k/rehab... I'm really unsure about the official title) is beautiful, river road (next to me?) is fantastic, Star For Nick and Bad Disease are both excellent, but the majority of the album is just boring. The melodies are samey and uninspired, some of the lyrics are REALLY cliché and overall most of the songs just don't do anything for me.
 
The only good songs are: Sirens, River Road, Star For Nick, Bad Disease, My Momma, How Do You Know Me So Well?, Pretty Baby, Birds Of A Feather ... Ok, that's more than I expected to write, but the rest of the songs are just awful.

Well, I think she was right. Even though she acted weird, I am quite sure she is righ when she says it was his intention to make her look bad in the first place, no matter WHAT she would have said. The problem is, she really gave him a gem of a headline to work with.

I was mainly refering to that one guy that said he was a fan of her music but her image is overdone. I mean I guess you could argue he was sort of insulting her but at the same time anyone could use that example against her because when you read his comments as innocent pieces of advice she comes across as a total spoiled bitch. I understand why the comment offended her, but her reply made her look petulant.
 
I agree with you on the journalist, he knew what he was doing and he knew how people would react, and I totally understand that when people begun condemning her she blamed Tim 'cause as far as she knew this had been his intent. She knew he had evidence though, didn't she? She must of known he had it on tape.

When has she ever replied to an innocent constructive criticism?
The "impatient" girl was equally unpolite as Lana, people dissing her because of how she looks aren't constructive and polite either and the one parody she raged about was arguably not meant to be a parody, it was just mimicking and ridiculing her with a strange voice.
 
I mean, you can argue about wether she should give a f*ck about stuff like this, but it's not as if the other persons would have approached her with less bitter and resentful words.
 
And about the journalist: I guess both of them are to blame. Lanz acted stupid and over-dramatically. But looking at most of the (american) interwiev-potraits of her, it can be assumed he really wanted to portrait her in a certain way. Just because someone is a journalist and this means he has to be critic, doesn't mean you have to portrait someone the way the "mainstream" wants to see the person. And this is what many journalists do with Lana, so I doubt he is very innocent.

Unpopular opinion or not?-  This Is What Makes Us Girls is actually a great story song.

1.) That was probably Lana on the first bit.   They could have been worse but yeah there are some songs near the end I'd have swapped out and damn it why did she not use the DMD demo. 
 
2.) I agree. Sometimes I genuinely wonder if she gets embarrassed about her fans. I'm sure being Ms Tween Idol was not part of her fame fantasy (my boyfriend told me that the screaming at her concert reminded him of what he thought a Beiber concert might sound like and I agreed). I think she expected/wanted a more mature crowd. I personally don't care who likes her because I think she deserves fans, but I wonder what its like knowing your fanbase is mostly highschool Tumblr queens or if she even cares at all. Kind of a tangent.
 
Your post was quite entertaining but Y&B a lyrical masterpiece?   

Look on the bright side, at least she didn't spend a year talking about it as if it were the second coming of god like some other artists have done in the past. Like Lady Gaga for example, talking about Born This Way as if it was going to revolutionize music and we all saw how that went.
 
I don't know why she skimped on promoting it or making videos, but my theory (on the videos at least) is that she probably wasn't given a huge financial push by the label. They weren't excited about her releasing it in the first place; it's a big contrast to her previous work in terms of being accessible. They clearly gave her a huge budget to work with circa Born To Die - visually stunning videos, promotion all over the world... hell, maybe they even chipped some cash in for Tropico (maybe she made that with her own money idk). But clearly there was a lack of support by the label and I've seen this many times when pop artists try to take a risk with their music. And promotional budgets include everything from music videos, to internet ads, to street promotion, to radio deals, interviews, blah blah blah. Lots of behind the scenes stuff.  The label's like - "fine, we'll release it, but we're going to give you a bare-bones budget to promote it, because we feel you didn't give us a top 40 single and we're not sure you're worth a big investment at this point in time." Maybe I'm wrong, idk, but that's what I'm thinking.
 
Add Lana's reluctance to even promote in the first place and there you go. She was probably exhausted from touring for so long and she wanted to take a break. Smart if you ask me. Good artists burn out fast when they succumb to being slaves for record labels. Again, something we see very often. I'm glad she gave us an incredible album at the end of the day - it could have gone so many places visually, but there's always album #3 (#4 if you count Paradise which I do).

Well we saw how this ended up as far as her giving out release dates. 
 
I'm happy to hear about a new album because more Lana songs are always great but there's still so much she could have done with UV. I don't know why she acted like UV was this horrible flop and moved on so fast since she talked the album up so much before it was released. All that should have mattered was that she loved her own music, whether it sold or not. I hope we still get some more videos and physical releases because I collect stuff but I doubt it.

I'm going to be a realist here and say there is no way she will be releasing a new album August 2015. She has a massive world tour next year and if its a huge success there might be the possibility off extra dates added on. It would be very stupid -commercially wise- to release a new LP in the middle of touring/promoting  UV.This is how I think it will go down....

With all that I really can't see the LP being released till very late 2015 or early 2016 . But Lana is so unpredictable  I wouldn't be surprised if she just dropped the album a la beyonce style somewhere in the near future tbh

I'm not sure how I feel about her working with Mark Ronson. I think I'd either love it or hate it, I think he's great when he works with someone but makes the song true to the artist (like Uptown Funk), so I can see it working well with Lana, as she wouldn't let him change her aesthetic.

True, I had forgotten about this. But they would normally work on the songs and then re-record them, no? I took it as though she showed him some rough drafts they could work on together.

Hasn't she already recorded a handful?
 

Besides, she's going to be touring in the summer, so she probably won't have much studio time to record a whole new album...
