  1. I finally brought myself to buy the David Bowie live albums and just when I thought I knew it all, knew all the songs by heart, could recite never-ending monologues about how amazing he is, I heard Stage for the first time, the live album covering his legendary Isolar II World Tour promoting Low and "Heroes" (ahem), and I am blown away.
  2. Maybe, but she certainly strives for something more profound and meaningful other than for superficiality.
  3. I really applaud your dedication as a fan, but I think you are exaggerating with the alleged "vicious critics and haters." Every artist faces that, it is part of the fame game, let alone the simple act of reception and processing of media content. That's why she's mainly avoiding the US now. Also, I don't see why a couple of celebrities verbally endorsing her would increase her self-esteem. She does reference celebrity culture and partially enjoys being a part of it, but I don't see her as someone looking for validation and approval from celebrities.
  4. DAVID BOWIE - The Next Day (March 8) NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS - Push the Sky Away (February 15)
  5. Was she in there? I didn't see her... A-listers or not, I honestly care more about the melting of the polar ice caps than about this Robert Whatever-his-family-name-is and his fellow celeb friends.
  6. Frankly, I consider none of these A-listers besides Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Opraaaaaahahahaaaahhhhhh and maybe Barbara Walters. However, those are nothing compared to the literally thousands of other "celebrities" she's met.
  7. DAVID BOWIE - "Look Back In Anger" (Serious Moonlight Tour)
  8. I'd be judging him so hard with my looks. I'd make sure the universe's energy is with me when alone my willpower knocks him to the ground. And for maybe one day, he is as relevant as he always wanted to be: on page one of all the gossip magazines for being knocked to the ground by an invisible power.
  9. I wasn't commenting on your opinion, nor will I, but I did comment on how contextless you shared it. What has this to do with the thread? Judging by your reply you obviously didn't get the point of what I was saying, but I'll leave it to this since it doesn't contribute anything to this thread either.
  10. If I am right, this thread is intended to discuss Lana possible dislike of Gaga, but apparently, it is taking a turn to members elaborating their dislike of her. And this seems extremely inappropriate to me.
  11. I went through some pages of her Flickr account and came to the conclusion that she's mainly met C-listers and D-listers. In a tweet from August she claims to have met Madonna, but in a tweet from September she explicitly denies to ever have met her. Attention... I don't understand how someone can be this obsessed with meeting celebrities... These two are made for each other.
  12. DAVID BOWIE - "Where Are We Now" What else could I be possibly listening to right now?
  13. All of those songs I heard around 1998 or 1999 for the first time. They cover my early childhood years and I see those songs in particular as responsible for my taste in music nowadays, as well as my interest in art and music. Especially the solo artists were the first people I started to identify myself with. And as pathetic as this sounds, they were also the first people I built "strong" relationships with through the years. Their entire work just resonated with me in a way that is still indescribable after all these years. MARILYN MANSON - "The Nobodies" SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR - "Get Over You" STING - "Englishman In New York" CHER - "All or Nothing" DAVID BOWIE - "Hallo Spaceboy" MADONNA - "Nothing Really Matters" DAFT PUNK - "One More Time" PET SHOP BOYS - "Suburbia"
  14. The ticket demand exceeded the promotor's expectation and therefore the show was moved to a larger venue. Berlin is a market for concerts which usually never does too well because Berlin has literally seen it all.
  15. Her Berlin performance was also moved to the Velodrom.
  16. What a lovely interview! Thank you very much for posting and translating.
  17. I have never seen Lana as the "Going for a coffee at @starbucks" kind of celebrity. Why would she disclose these little and pretty irrelevant details about her daily life on social networks? A no-go, as you put it, to me is when these trivial and meaningless things become the centre of one's interaction with fans. I am glad, actually, that Lana keeps quiet. I don't know what there is to expect from her. She obviously doesn't like using Twitter or Facebook as a mouthpiece. And I'm not implying that prominent Twitter faces such as Gaga or Katy Perry do.
  18. Basically, what you get is the following: one alcoholic drink, something to eat, an ~exclusive~ seat which is far from the stage. Also, you get to hang out in some """VIP""" lounge with other people that have too much money. But the most important thing: you get to feel special when entering the venue through a private entry and when parking your car in a reserved parking lot. I mean, how ridiculous is that? There isn't even merch included and all of this crap costs you more than 200 bucks while the most expensive tickets is 50€ only.
  19. I'm hoping to meet Lana this year... and I am still trying to decide which photo I would like her to sign. Frankly, I can't stand when artists scribble over a random photo, so I usually spent hours looking for the perfect picture that does actually say something about the artist and/or their work. I'm happy that I did take the time because my Gaga autograph looks stunning... but back to Lana. I can't really decide between the following two. Still from the "Ride" video This photo kind of says something about loneliness, doesn't it? She somehow looks abandoned in this photo and the red motel sign says a lot about the aesthetic of her work. Performing at the El Rey Theater I absolutely love this photo shot by her sister. Doesn't this say a lot about Lana and her music, her visuals, etc.? In fact, I am so obsessed with these things that I even bought a specific red ink pen for Gaga to sign my picture. I will be getting a white one for Lana, that's why both photos are mainly dark or black. My goal is to have her write the following: 'To Felix. Make your life an art. Love, Lana (Del Rey).' I'd die if this actually happened. Please tell me I am not the only one being this obsessed about... these kind of things. By the way, LLLL, when and how did you meet her? Your photo with her is wonderful.
  20. If we all did what the magazines tell us to do, we'd be pros at everything. The world would be much better. Maaaaan, why did I never realize that all we've got to know to find the meaning of life is written inbetween adverts for beauty lotions and safe sex?
  21. But that has nothing to do with the label in this case. Lana as a mainstream and popular music act noticed by a big audience has been around for how long now? A little more than a good year. Rihanna, on the other hand, has been around for way longer than her.
  22. Universal Music Germany was the first label to sign her with Born to Die and.. well, this is one of the most massive labels, actually.
  23. This girl has life figured out, hasn't she? I see a future Media and Communication scientist.
  24. If you like what you like, may all the others go fuck themselves. If one day I felt like wearing a pink t-shirt that reads "I'm a Straight Glitter Whore" (the world 'Glitter' would be studded with glitter, naturally) I would do it. And if others called me a faggot for it I would give them this look and move on feeling funny and fabulous, knowing that I am not gay and others are biased and judgmental assholes.
