  1. I'm hoping she performs "Lolita"... but thank God I'll be among the first 10,000 people to know wether she does or not.
  2. You can't remaster or master this without having the original file of each separate track, and I am talking about all sound layers of each song here. Forget about it. I don't mean to sound harsh or insulting, but playing with the EQ is not mastering. Also, using a lossy 256 kbit/s MP3-file and converting it to a lossless WAV-file after butchering and compressing it won't make it sound any better. That's like trying to remake a pizza out of what's been left in the toilet. Literally.
  3. We don't have the original M4A-files but we do have the converted MP3-files which have the identical quality features in 256 kbit/s.
  4. The idea of her re-releasing the album is nice. But for the fans only. How should this be marketed and promoted? "The long lost first studio album by Lana Del Rey has surfaced. Get your copy of this desperate attempt to milk the Del Rey Cow now!" I can't imagine the general public would be interested in this. And let's be honest: even the amount of fans actually paying for it is probably rather small since the album itself, and by now the MP3 converted iTunes files, has spread all over the internet. If it gets released after all, I suppose it will be digital only which probably isn't what we want either.
  5. I was just about to say this... it's... irritating. But she looks beautiful - surprise! - nonetheless.

If you love the "Heroes" album, you will love "Where Are We Now?" The ending is everything... Frankly, Aladdin Sane along with the Ziggy Stardust character never did anything for me. From Diamond Dogs up to Earthling (with the exception of the boring mess that is Never Let Me Down) - that is my cup of Bowie Tea™. Especially the late 1970s with Station to Station and the Berlin Trilogy.

Welcome to the thread dedicated to the legend that is... D A V I D ___ B O W I E Performing as the Thin White Duke during the Isolar II World Tour 1976 N E W S David's first album in ten years, The Next Day, is set to be released internationally on March 12 (a few days earlier in some territories). The album features his recently released single which takes a look back to the past, at David's time in Berlin and how things have or have not changed. His longtime collaborator Tony Visconti (producer of the infamous Berlin trilogy including the albums Low, "Heroes" and Lodger) describes the sound of the record to be very rock-inspired, hinting at similarities to "Heroes." The sound may not be the only similar aspect to David's legendary, ground-breaking album from 1977. The album artwork to The Next Day, conceived by Jonathan Barnbrook and David himself, is an altered image of the "Heroes" album cover. Open the spoiler for further information... Discuss.
  9. I finally brought myself to buy the David Bowie live albums and just when I thought I knew it all, knew all the songs by heart, could recite never-ending monologues about how amazing he is, I heard Stage for the first time, the live album covering his legendary Isolar II World Tour promoting Low and "Heroes" (ahem), and I am blown away.
  10. Maybe, but she certainly strives for something more profound and meaningful other than for superficiality.
  11. I really applaud your dedication as a fan, but I think you are exaggerating with the alleged "vicious critics and haters." Every artist faces that, it is part of the fame game, let alone the simple act of reception and processing of media content. That's why she's mainly avoiding the US now. Also, I don't see why a couple of celebrities verbally endorsing her would increase her self-esteem. She does reference celebrity culture and partially enjoys being a part of it, but I don't see her as someone looking for validation and approval from celebrities.
  12. DAVID BOWIE - The Next Day (March 8) NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS - Push the Sky Away (February 15)
  13. Was she in there? I didn't see her... A-listers or not, I honestly care more about the melting of the polar ice caps than about this Robert Whatever-his-family-name-is and his fellow celeb friends.
  14. Frankly, I consider none of these A-listers besides Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Opraaaaaahahahaaaahhhhhh and maybe Barbara Walters. However, those are nothing compared to the literally thousands of other "celebrities" she's met.
  15. DAVID BOWIE - "Look Back In Anger" (Serious Moonlight Tour)
  16. I'd be judging him so hard with my looks. I'd make sure the universe's energy is with me when alone my willpower knocks him to the ground. And for maybe one day, he is as relevant as he always wanted to be: on page one of all the gossip magazines for being knocked to the ground by an invisible power.
  17. I wasn't commenting on your opinion, nor will I, but I did comment on how contextless you shared it. What has this to do with the thread? Judging by your reply you obviously didn't get the point of what I was saying, but I'll leave it to this since it doesn't contribute anything to this thread either.
  18. If I am right, this thread is intended to discuss Lana possible dislike of Gaga, but apparently, it is taking a turn to members elaborating their dislike of her. And this seems extremely inappropriate to me.
  19. I went through some pages of her Flickr account and came to the conclusion that she's mainly met C-listers and D-listers. In a tweet from August she claims to have met Madonna, but in a tweet from September she explicitly denies to ever have met her. Attention... I don't understand how someone can be this obsessed with meeting celebrities... These two are made for each other.
  20. DAVID BOWIE - "Where Are We Now" What else could I be possibly listening to right now?
  21. All of those songs I heard around 1998 or 1999 for the first time. They cover my early childhood years and I see those songs in particular as responsible for my taste in music nowadays, as well as my interest in art and music. Especially the solo artists were the first people I started to identify myself with. And as pathetic as this sounds, they were also the first people I built "strong" relationships with through the years. Their entire work just resonated with me in a way that is still indescribable after all these years. MARILYN MANSON - "The Nobodies" SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR - "Get Over You" STING - "Englishman In New York" CHER - "All or Nothing" DAVID BOWIE - "Hallo Spaceboy" MADONNA - "Nothing Really Matters" DAFT PUNK - "One More Time" PET SHOP BOYS - "Suburbia"
  22. The ticket demand exceeded the promotor's expectation and therefore the show was moved to a larger venue. Berlin is a market for concerts which usually never does too well because Berlin has literally seen it all.
  23. Her Berlin performance was also moved to the Velodrom.
