OK after a few more days and some new bad talk from Kim, I am now convinced-
Kim herself is the protagonist in the song "Old Money" but in her case, Kim is looking back at a time she remembers when she had it all, she thought, but it all went bad. Kim had success on a cult level, her band one of the most critically acclaimed in history.
And she had a happy family life.
Now, she is moaning that she would run run run if it came calling again, and in Lana, Kim sees herself and is jealous that Lana now has it all, and Kim lost it by becoming bitter and not moving forward.

If Kim were AUTHENTIC in her thoughts, she would mentor Lana to be what ever it is she claims is "inauthentic". And show her the ropes...could it be that Kim and kim's humor meant Kim and Sonic Youth were just pulling one over on everybody?

    Ask yourself-
why is she bullying Lana, yet never mentions any of the 30 other talented female out there that are all the same in the last 30 years- from Mariah to Celine to Whitney to all of those that sound the same and one can't recall who sings what.
Yes all of those singers are talented, but none are unique. They are each other, all pining to be the next the last was, up to and including today's Miley, today's Rihanna, Beyoncé, etc.
Why do people never question the "authenticity" of any other female singer, NOR at any time any male singer or band? Sheesh, it seems the term was invented specifically by the haters of Lana and just a bullying word.
Lana is unique. Kim was unique.  The thing too is, Lana though not trying for hits, has had more hits than Sonic Youth did.
It seems Kim though feels no one loves her now that she is not "young and beautiful".
I guarantee people will love Lana when Lana is 61. And Lana won't need a book to get publicity off of, as Lana will still be producing movies, music, tv,  and whatever is in 30-35 years the current media like a Paul McCartney or Brian Wilson or Aretha Franklin
who don't look back, but keep moving forward.

Invite Kim to a concert and do a duet.

Lana Del Rey's career is on a higher trajectory than David Bowie, whom the two share many traits both as unique trailblazers.

Lana though already as a #1 album. It took David Bowie dying at age 69 to get a number one album. Lana has two #2 albums, Bowie has 1.
Bowie did not do well chartwise until he went disco (so in a way, Gaga the only other unique artist in contemporary music went the commercial disco
route early. Space Oddity was a bomb in the USA the first time, and barely hit the Top 30 when it did. (Similar to Lana's charting of Video Games)

Lana has 3 Grammy nominations, Bowie had 2 and won a lifetime Grammy later on. Bowie Hall of Fame, Lana still to come

Bowie's prior album before his released as he died album, only spent 10 weeks on the charts, but was like Lana critically praised. (though not highly
in year end lists, and not at award times.)

Lana is one commercial hit away from any of her albums being bigger than Adele (and it's sincerely great that Adele tried to game the system in the USA
and isnot eligible for Grammys this year (coming up), but next year, and it is now widely believe Bowie will win album and many other awards next year.

Note all of the above is based on US charts/sales

Lana is 30 and has 39 years to go before she turns 69. I am along for the ride.

And Born to Die is equal to Dark Side of the Moon. Nothing Floyd ever did after compared either. So what.

(and a certain poster aka hater of Lana didn't like Ultraviolence either, go back and read older posts. Believe that poster is just looking to win the six Lipsters that poster was nominated for)

Congratulations Lana on 110k sold and the #2 chart position. Fourth Top 10
    Born to die -2
Paradise- 10 (Billboard officially counts Paradise as a stand alone release)
    Ultraviolence-1
    Honeymoon-2

    and looking forward-
(there are less than a handful of female artists in history with five Top 10 albums.
Among which are Streisand, Madonna and Tori Amos.

Sometimes I wonder if anyone here ever heard of John Lennon or Versace or Dr. King or JFK or RFK or Allard Lowenstein (good example), or Sharon Tate and the now weekly/montly mass events that are not political, and see that threads like this one and the other similar one should be deleted

Some things should ot be talked about in public.

Getting attention is what nutjobs or those with agendas are what they want.

and their names should never be mentioned.

ADMINISTRATOR/MODERATORS SHOULD DELETE THE THREAD and people should find something more beneficial to gossip about.

Why even bother with Lana at all and just go on all these other non-entities and Meh artists that make money money money money money money
I do hope Meghan has saved hers because on the Warhol clock, it is about 14:58 with about 2 seconds to go.
And she had so few fans, didn't she cancel her entire tour like Iggy Azaelia did?

Lana was there nice and early with everyone else, spent a lot of time signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans outside (only her and Tony Bennett spent time both before and after the show
with the fans, everyone else was too snobbish and above their fans I guess to even bother) and she was on the red carpet.
And it was a wonderful warm day, hot weather for NY in December, so the others had no excuse not to give fans some time.
Just another reason Lana is special. (If one watches award shows btw, not everyone after accepting the award goes backstage. Many times you see winners go back down to their table instead of backstage).
The object after all is not to get publicity, but to humbly accept an award.
(Reminds me that after they died, one heard how much charity work both Elvis and Sinatra had done (two other trailblazers in the past, though there weren't trailblazer awards, and two others that had mega problems with the press/media themselves, both being unique male artists), neither of whom did it in the media, they just did it from the heart in private because the object is not
doing it to make the world think you are something special, but to do it because you want to do it.)

  18. graham4anything liked a post in a topic by delreyfreak in Unpopular Lana Opinions
Judging by how often people post comments like "this song is soooo overrated", "this song is talked about way too much" and so on, I think what I am about to say is probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but, honestly, I don't think any of Lana's songs are overrated.

Personally, in my opinion, all of Lana's songs that seem to be appreciated the most (songs like Blue Jeans, Summertime Sadness, Born to DIe, Video Games, High By The Beach, Young & Beautiful, etc.) definitely deserve to be so widely liked. The word "overrated" indicates that it is liked or enjoyed too much, and I think that saying such a thing towards such masterpieces is ridiculous. If you said someone like the tasteless Taylor Swift was overrated, I'd agree, because her music isn't art at its finest, like Lana's is, and it's put together for the masses. But I don't understand how people can claim any of Lana's songs are overrated, because as far as I can see, they certainly deserve the praise, love and adulation they receive.

If it were a song like Guns and Roses, or Carmen, for example, that was her most popular, then I could understand using the term "overrated", because they're simply some of her weaker pieces. But the fact of the matter is, they aren't her most popular.

If anything, I'd say Lana has more underrated songs than overrated.

Remember the trippy song from the animated Santa Claus is coming to town as sung by Jessica later to be Santa's wife Mrs. Claus?
The animated hour show was  the one about the story of Santa,  with the Winter Warlock, with narration from Fred Astaire.

It was so weird it was edited out some years for the TV showing (long before video).

    and do it Lana style.

or perhaps a medley with one of the songs sung by one of the others done with a male vocalist.

and someone just pointed out another song by the singer Robie Lester who originally sang "My world" called "Chimney Sweep" a bluesy jazz type song
    that would also be appropriate
