Hmmmm interesting. I like the verses but the chorus is kind of boring.
-
Is this a Trouble demo or a new track that leaked?
-
Sia also gave her Pop Rock so I don't really feel like she has Brooke's best interests in mind

Thats so embarrassing that they think that. The production isn't even that much better, I honestly think what Lucian Walker was doing on Everybody Does & I Wanna Fuck Right Now was so much fresher than whatever this generic garbage is. Hell, the Opulence EP was better than this. What drew me to Brooke in 2012 was her style and lyrical content. While I could care less that she's switched up her look, in the music department much of her appeal (at least to me) was not so much her flow (which wasn't ever that good) but her lyrical content & ability to turn a song about embracing your sexuality into something catchy. That coupled with her aggressive deliverance really drew me to her and I thought it was so cool that we finally had a female rapper who was not only focusing on feminism, but also openly supporting homosexuality in the music (Angel Haze gives us some of this too every once and awhile). This monotonous garbage she's been putting out lately is devoid any emotion or message and it is so discouraging.

Mess Seriously I've been a stan since 2012 and she does me dirty & releases this garbage
-
The base of the gun she's holding is a modified/painted version of this nerf gun which I used to have as a kid

No idea what you're talking about? I've loved everything except the new mix of New Americana
-
With all due respect, when is this shit gonna leak?
-
In other news Teen Dream is finally starting to grow on me
-
Its very.........overproduced..........giving me New Americana teas
-
I guess...........idk like...............it just seems very try hard (i guess a lot of her music comes off that way too) I'm just waiting for the inevitable "she used a monologue, she's copying Ride!" comments to start flooding in
-
Agreed x10
-
Its cute to conceptualize the album like that but it comes off kind of........extra? I don't know like I like it but it feel like it went a little over the top at points with that monologue
-
She like........ruined the song tho :/
-

While I don't think Depression Cherry is bad, it just doesn't blow me away like Bloom does if you know what I mean. Everyone always told me to get into them by listening to Teen Dream and that it's their best album, but I could never get into it. Then I heard Other People on Pandora and was completely blown away. I looked up Bloom and listened to it and was in awe at the sheer beauty of it. To me there is nothing about Bloom that doesn't exceed exceptional. Lyrically the album is incredible, vocally Victoria is at her most emotive yet most controlled giving off this raw power but not in a volume sense, and the instrumentation is on a completely different level being driven by those incredibly gorgeous guitars giving the songs such a beautiful texture. Alone Beach House has tons of songs that achieve those aspects, however the magic in Bloom (for me) is that they're together on every song and all in perfect harmony, none overpowering each other but rather perfectly complimenting each other. I think Depression Cherry is great and it really grew on me but for me it just doesn't have the same magic that Bloom does. Depression Cherry is a fantastic album but it's more focused on the lyrical and vocal aspect (not a bad thing) and to me is trying a different approach for artistic growth. Just in my opinion I think of Bloom as an almost untouchable masterpiece and the pinnacle of dream-pop.

I like it but I don't think it comes anywhere close to Bloom (just my opinion)
