I'm finally accepted her decision to not promote her music which is not that easy when you're a fan and you want to see her performing her material. But why is MBWTB coming out almost two days later after the premiere? I love MTWBT and I wanna buy it or listen to it on a streaming service. Why didn't she or her team released the song immediately after the world premiere? It makes no sense. This is not anymore about having or not having promotion is just stupid decisions after stupid decisions. I kind of understand that she's not interested in making money but her label should maximize her output nonetheless. If she would open with 70k or less that would make her happy? It will not happen because her fandom will save her first two weeks of sales because she brought the magic out again, but still there is so much wasted potential in her material (poor UV)

The only promo she had this era is form the online blogs who still cover her. All of them are sharing links to some obscure site instead of her Spotify, YT or Itunes page. This is a great strategy indeed. In two days the hype will be gone, people listened to the song and fewer will buy it. Releasing on Friday for what? For charting higher on the next week H100? Opening on 55 instead of 70 and after a week will disappear from the charts? But there is no need to argue with a moron. Kind of pity your mother that she had to fart to the world an imbecile like you.

Man you need a leash because you're out of your element, take your pills please and take several seats. You have no clue what you're talking about. She's not pushed to the radio dude. She has no significant radio play and she'll not have this era. Her singles are weak commercially because she has no exposure to new listeners besides her fandom. HBTB dropped out from H100 after just two weeks. On Friday she will announce on her social accounts that MTWBT will be on ITunes and Spotify and only her core fandom will notice, the blogs will not write again about it. On the other hand, her fans will not be enticed to buy the single because they get it anyway with the album. Lana or her team doesn’t care about the single charts at this point, don’t be ridiculous dude. With the promo they had? So there you have the reasons why releasing it on Friday has no real importance to anything they just missed a day and a half of strong sales. The only mess is in your dumb head dude but form now on you are on ignore

With 8 days to go we don't have any interviews besides that from V magazine. I would like to know if she was approached for interviews and she refused or she wasn't contacted at all.

The UK papers practically make no reference about the release. I would be surprised if she opens at no.1 in the UK (and some people expected her to sing the Spectre song). The decline in the UK it's real and It's sad because there it all started and they really liked her

Just off the top of my head, "Money Hunny" is older than "Money Honey". Lana's JFK obsession predates the writing of "Government Hooker", and "Marilyn Monroe"/"Puppy Love" which references JFK predates it's release.

I liked the Franco interview. I didn't liked particularly Franco’s questions but I was impressed by Lana’s eloquence, she’s definitely a smart person. At least I got some clues about how she envisions her career going forward and what is her plan dealing with the negativity around her:
    1. She will exclude the press (except maybe for some photoshoots and interviews with Franco or Chuck or someone who she trusts). This means that she’ll maintain the promotion at a minimum.
    2. She will not perform outside of her shows.
    3. She doesn’t plan to retire, on contrary she will come out quickly with new releases.
All of this is consistent with what she did so far. I don’t know if it is a good plan for her career, it seems rather passive and will push her in the niche artist category. But if is good for her it’s good for me until she keeps rolling out good music.

I bought HM, TLY and HBTB in HQ. HM is still a 5/10 for me and I still think that it is a terrible choice to open the album. TLY is one of her best songs and if it would be more charged emotionally would be a 10 for me. HBTB instantly teleports me to the beach and I replayed it insanely and I didn’t get bored. But still, so far UV>HM

There is nothing really to talk about. The HM release is symbolized by that lonely board over the Mel's Drive-In, which makes everything related to the album seem like a dream, an afterthought. The songs released so far are pretty but without the electrifying sensation that I felt listening to BTD or UV. HM so far sounds like someone is saying goodbye and being deprived by the energy to go forward. I found the V magazine shooting somewhat fitting with this picture and I’m looking forward to see the HQ pictures and I’m curious about the Franco interview too.

But I can’t get out of my head what Dan Auerbach said about Lana in the Rolling Stone interview. It was for me like a confirmation of something bad about you knew but that you never fully accepted until then. The way the interviewer, a veteran music journalist, put rhetorically the question “Do you think she gets the respect she deserves as an artist?” and the way Dan answer it, without hesitation, “No, I don't think she does. But you know that. I don't need to tell you that”, it sounds like its common knowledge between the insiders that Lana is not a respected artist. Like many of you, I read a lot about her and I got the feeling that she’s disrespected as an artist, especially in the US, but somehow I hoped that this is just the opinion of some music journalists.

I cannot imagine how difficult was/is for her to be creative while being disrespected by your peers and music journalists and to be attacked relentlessly with misogynistic and ideological rants. The puzzle pieces are starting to fall in their places: that she didn’t find a community in the music business, that she likes to work with certain people with which she feels safe, that she’s afraid to go before the general public with her music, that she don’t want certain people (critics) to hear her music, that she feels fucked up talking with the press, that she doesn’t want to promote anymore and excluded the press from her tour, that BTD and UV didn’t get any Grammy nominations or recognition in the US, that she often looks depressed.

I feel silly now that I expected bells and whistles from this era when things were/are possibly that bleak in her life. She’s not there emotionally and this is coming through her music lately. I have the feeling that she somewhat lost the joy of creating for others and she didn’t put her heart and soul in her songs lately. There is just a detached (but genuine) sadness and disappointment feeling without really wanting something.

Now, what is the point to remain a recording artist when you are not respected, your career is making you depressed, you’re afraid to perform your music and possibly you lost your joy of creating for others? On the other hand, it’s hard to let go a career that others (good musicians) are unable to achieve in a lifetime and not to use your only real talent. She needs to sort out these things because she cannot go forward for long like this.

David Gilmour from Pink Floyd is also putting out his first record in about ten years. It doesn't matter what pop fans think of the old guys, people like Gilmour and Richards have a big advantage because their fans overwhelmingly buy the physical copies of their records rather than waiting for leaks.

the thing about the hotline is true, but you know, she should not even start something like that and then just abandon it, because that is like a pattern for her work since  BTD, She wants to do something and then gets bored in the middle of it and abandons it. And lets not even talk how she cancelled her radio gigs in France twice and both times last minute without giving any further information why.

And I think you are actually wrong about her commercial potential.

Lana is pretty and quite striking. This is always a plus for a big commercial appeal. Even an album like UV, if showcased could have done way better. And it's not about sales. I am not interested in how rich she is. You know, I just like my favourite artist and want to see her doing interviews and singing live.

She has way more commercial potential than Lorde, Marina and Halsey (combined)

She has material to release a teaser trailer. I mean the footage she shot during the album shoot and she's used for Terrence Loves You. She has the Honeymoon video (even if it's just the clips she posted, it's not that hard to plug her phone and record new ones on her VHS app ). I don't know what she's doing but Lana sis... The album is out in two weeks. Two magazine covers are cute but that's not enough as promotion (and I'm not really here for a lame ass interview by James Franco TBH) and most important - not enough for the fans. That's the most important thing for me at least, so many things that could've been done instead of TV promotion or whatever and... Nope. Nothing. At least they are sponsoring her on Instagram.

I'd expect MTBWT to be kinda the it song from the album. Not a hit or anything but something like National Anthem with a very appealing video but I don't wanna get myself hyped so I'm gonna pretend the song sounds like Delete it fat For the Summer.

Well, to tell the truth, UV did way, waaay better on pre-orders than HM right now.

That happend because at least the promo singles arrived back-to-back and she still had the hype from BTD. Now, things are almost dead. That she went No.1 with HM for 2 or 3 days on pre.-orders is not a big thing.
I just wish sometimes she would address these things like not promoting. I mean, not for the sake of the success, but why is she not showcasing her material and her talent. I mean, it is too good to go down unnoticed while trash gets promoted 24 / 7 and we all are misfortuned to witness it. I am sure, we as fans would take any appereance and any interview with pleasure.

But it's pointless to even discuss this, I guess. She has made her choices. We can just either enjoy what we get or leave.

The era is shaping up to be interesting after all. I really like the V magazine photo-shoot and I love HBTB and TLY. There is so much truth in Auerbach words about her:

You produced most of Lana Del Rey's last album. What was that like?
It was stressful, but at the end of the day, it was really enjoyable. She's such a force, and it was cool to go into her world for a little while. "Brooklyn Baby" — fuck, I love how that song sounds.
Do you think she gets the respect she deserves as an artist?
No, I don't think she does. But you know that. I don't need to tell you that. I'm not worried about her, because the people that love her are fucking obsessed.
