  1. Hard to believe this is less than a week away! I can't wait either
  2. we luv a tasteless legend
  3. IT SHOULD'VE BEEN ME I'm not the slightest bit sorry to say that I am the one (1!) Lana fan most deserving of a signed copy of AKA because... let's be real here, I'm Lizzy Grant Stan #1 I'm just kidding, of course! But, come on, don't say you don't agree
  4. Yeah, I actually used it to construct this timeline! The reason to make a new one was to include things that either the Lanapedia timeline didn't include (certain recording dates, etc.) + posts and songs from Lana's social media (Myspace and Twitter). It's a super resource, though
  5. So, after scrolling through what's available on Rob's Facebook, I'm just kind of... in awe. I'd like to make a more detailed, coherent post later, after doing some more reading, to connect him to certain songs -- but, for now, I just need to get thoughts out. Firstly, I'm just heartbroken at all the people who seem to really miss his presence -- he seemed to be a truly sweet guy who really impacted everyone he was around. Secondly, I'm feeling more and more that he's the missing link we've been looking for in Lana's music. I'm not sure if the time fits, but I can't help but reattribute a song like "Kill Kill" -- "I'm in love with a dying man/I have done everything I can..." -- to him, rather than K. I think she could've surrounded him with a lot of metaphorical death imagery, in her fear that she might lose him to drugs. Also, from reading the Facebook posts by his family, I'm gathering that he traveled a lot -- could this be the real-life inspiration for a song like "1949" -- which is obviously lifted from "Lolita", but could also carry a personal meaning for Lana, as she wishes he could take her on one of these globetrotting trips with him? It fits with the themes of "Yayo", of escaping with him. Also, I can't help but think that he's almost certainly the subject of "For K, Pt. 2", with the original demo being called "Rehab", and such. So, my question is, could she have met Rob early enough that he could be the subject of even the earliest K songs? For one, I know the name K has been believed to refer to a different man in her life, whose name I won't say here, but I really think K could be Rob -- couldn't the "death row" references just be another metaphor for her fear of losing him to death? I'm feeling that she knew he'd hear these early songs (maybe she even played them for him!), so she gave his character a pseudonym, and a fictionalized vice, so he wouldn't know that she was singing about his drug problem. It's a lot to take in, and I may be far off the mark. I read all the info late last night, so I need time to reprocess it, but I thought I'd at least get this initial information out of my head in some way. Also, I don't think this is *actually* significant, but... it's kind of funny. Names and pictures (except for his first name) have been blacked out for privacy, so I hope it's okay to post this here: K
  6. Here's a little timeline I made, using some dates from the Lizzy years. A lot of it, towards the end, is just chronicling her Tweets, which may be excessive -- but might still provide interesting context. And, of course, it's far from done yet https://docs.google.com/document/d/1l6wDtgXSvCCmwuHrCxDWD5ha3DmzQDeKSSlgWyNCdlA/edit?usp=sharing The Early Shows section and the month-by-month chronology on the Wiki were absolutely indispensible.
  7. "This is... this is a song I used to perform, about ten years ago. Let's see if I can remember the words... It's called 'Pin Up Galore'." CAN YOU IMAGINE
  8. Wow. Out of all the times she's performed Yayo in the past couple years, this picture really took me back to Lizzy in a way none of the rest have. I don't know if it's something about the hair, the outfit, or -- more likely -- that look on her face, and the way she's posed, but something about this takes me way back to '07, and I suddenly see the bridge between Lizzy and Lana so well. Those little moments of clarity are always so sweet -- when you really see that she's still Lizzy Grant, all these years later. Don't you just wish the Lizzy of 2008, shyly playing her way through her sad-party little songs to a New York bar, could see the Lizzy of 2018 -- the girl hasn't changed too much, but the crowds sure have <3
  9. Overall, I'm digging this setlist. Primarily LFL, with a few 'greatest hits' (Video Games, etc.), a few of ours and Lana's favorites (PWYC, Yayo...), and a couple curveballs (i.e. Scarborough Fair). It's not what I would've handpicked, but all in all, I'm pretty happy with it!
  10. I'd rather see her cut LFL than MTWBT, but HM is a good addition either way. I hope she's still making these little variations by the time my date rolls around! <3 (my one big hope is that she keeps Yayo until the 30th )
  11. pretty sure Gerald refers to G-Eazy, the rapper Lana dated at some point (maybe someone else knows when? i couldn't ever keep up with *when* they dated), whose real name is Gerald (and who In My Feelings and White Mustang are ostensibly written about)
  12. while i'm super, super pumped that she's apparently rolling out *any* unreleased, paradise feels like such a strange choice to me that party-girl, pop sound seems so distant from lana's current aesthetic and sound -- i'd even say lizzy-era tracks are closer to what she's currently doing anyway, i'm so excited to hear it!! i'm still gonna hope either for a lizzy-era jam or one of her sweet bops like never let me go or puppy love (or prom song!!!!)
  13. I inadvertently ended 2017 with Resistance (not a bad choice, though), and began 2018 with Love, which just seemed to really fit -- and I see some of you thought the same! <3 Here's hoping 2018 is a year of love for us all -- love for one another, love for life, love for the world, true love, and love for our humanity. We need it more than ever, and I think we have the power to make it a beautiful, happy year.
  14. i'm quaking couldn't have picked a better one myself
  15. if you're still doing this, hit me with a 49 // 6 // 16
  16. i don't recall ever reading this in the lanalysis thread -- in one of the handful of blog posts Chris C did on Lizzy, he shared screenshots of their messages and a poem she commented on: the blog is pretty telling. Chris was married w/kids, but talking to Lizzy and another girl named Sarah online. looks like he ended up meeting Sarah, but never met Lizzy before things dissolved. he also seems to suggest that Lizzy didn't really harbor the same feelings for him that he had for her, and he regarded her as more of a muse than a lover also, sorry if this has already been shared! it was very new to me
  17. My transcriptions are just a *tad* different: Are you feeling lucky tonight? Have you ever seen downtown New Orleans? That's where I'm from That's where I've been. Where I was made, somewhere in between
  18. Love, love, love the interview! I think it always comes through when Lana is comfortable with an interviewer -- nothing felt forced or ill-phrased here, which is always so nice. Such a good balance of a conversational feel, and deeper questions. It's seemed to me that Lana's become much more transparent about her creative process, her emotions, and her past (her musical past, especially!) since the LFL era started, which totally thrills me. Hearing her little quips about old songs (All Smiles!!!!!!) has been so neat, and really getting into her head and her heart when it comes to writing the album has made me enjoy LFL so much more! It's like we're finally getting to peek behind the curtain that separates Lana Del Rey from Elizabeth Grant... and, yet, she still hasn't (and probably won't ever) given *all* the mystery away (also: not a huge fan of the cover choice? something about that pic looks *off* to me. the one of her on the road and the one in the white dress are much prettier and much more flattering, imo)
  19. Thanks, Elle! What do you mean by "a later version"? I was under the impression that we only had one version of this song.
