  1. Hi thanks but she definitely sold 116k total. For clarification, she sold 105k and the other 11k were from track equivalent and streaming equivalent sales which still count, okay?
  2. I first heard Natalia when Mirrors came out and it was on UK Music TV. I liked the song and went out to buy Perfectionist when it was released but couldn't find it and kinda forgot about her. Late '13/Early '14 and the Outta Time lyric video pops up on my YouTube recommendations and the name rings a bell. I fell in love with OT (it's still my favourite song on Trouble) and bought P and T together. I like T waaaaay more than P and I'm really disappointed that she fucked up at her chance to shine on the X Factor NZ. I'm hoping she releases something officially soon.
  3. I think this'll be my favourite or my least favourite, for some reason I can't see it being anywhere in the middle for me. If it can surpass Murder House though...
  4. @@PARADIXO you're making so many relevant points rn
  5. Lana's wearing glasses on the cover for Honeymoon so obviously that's symbolism for covering up the triangles in her eyes and that's obviously proof don't ask for any rational reasoning but just believe me and also on the M3LL155X cover twigs' hand grows through her face and that's clearly symbolism for the birth of the antichrist and the imminent death of the world if you want to save your soul i'd recommend katy perry's christian rock album save yourself before it's too late guys save youreslves

    Selena Gomez

ngl i like this whole era so far more than i want to admit
  7. I need a rerecorded version of Pawn Shop Blues sans the annoying production quirks. tbh the main thing that holds AKA back for me is the annoying production quirks scattered throughout it As for my favourite albums/EPs of the year so far: 1. FROOT - Marina and the Diamonds 2. Honeymoon - Lana Del Rey 3. M3LL155X - FKA twigs 4. How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful - Florence + the Machine 5. SUCKER - Charli XCX (I'm from the UK so technically it came out this year for me)
  8. Whattt I loved Amethyst and Party Favors is so good. I'm still holding out for a Bated Breath moment on Joyride but I know it ain't gonna happen
  9. Name another dream pop/baroque pop singer selling 116K debut week with minimal promotion in a declining music market in the US in 2015 I'm not here to start an argument, I'm just saying that, in my opinion, there's not another artist like Lana right now who's selling the numbers she's selling and I'm pretty surprised by the fact that she's had 4 top 10 albums releasing the music that she's releasing. Personally, I thought she'd fade away after TPE was released and I am surprised she's managed to stay relevant now for as long as she has. In today's music market, artists are lucky to get to their fourth or fifth release and still sell numbers that are deemed impressive. Anyone relevant now will be lucky to make it to 15 years and still be popular. Think Miley: I'm pretty sure that free release has ruined her. Lana isn't making hip-hop artist featuring, million-dollar-production-fee, excessively-advertised songs and for that reason I'm surprised she's still managed to break the top 5 of most major music markets. Sorry for expressing my opinion... I'm just gonna stop now. Sorry.
  10. Longevity for someone of her calibre. Most artists nowadays are made to last 3 albums and then fade. Lana's proved with 4 top 10 releases in the US and 3 top 3 albums that she's got more longevity than most artists nowadays.
  11. Gold - Marina and the Diamonds tbh my favourite from FROOT
  12. I don't get the big deal about Flipside please explain
  13. It feels like a mix of her mid-range budget videos and her self-produced music videos, especially the flamingos scene. I really like it
  14. Cruel World - Honeymoon Ultraviolence - Music to Watch Boys to Shades of Cool - Terrence Loves You TIE Brooklyn Baby - God Knows I Tried TIE West Coast - High by the Beach Sad Girl - Freak Pretty When You Cry - Art Deco Money Power Glory - Religion TIE Fucked My Way Up to the Top - Salvatore Old Money - The Blackest Day ngl never really got into Old Money sorry guys Black Beauty - 24 Guns and Roses - Swan Song The Other Woman - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood Florida Kilos Is This Happiness Flipside
  15. Music to Watch Boys to 1. I Like You 2. What You Want 3. Sent to Destroy 4. (Pink) Flamingos 5. Watch You Leave 6. Blue Ribbons 7. No Holds Barred 8. Velveteen 9. Buy Eternity 10. Record 11. Live to Love You 12. Nothing Gold 13. A Game to Me 14. Watching the Boys
  16. These numbers are amazing. People are saying that Lana's becoming a 'niche artist' and that she's 'failing' but - for an act like Lana - her commercial longevity is astounding. There's no other artist that's properly like Lana so that helps but most artists are lucky to get to album 3 and still be getting top 10 debuts, even with massive amounts of promotion. Take, for example, E-MO-TION: it's an album that no-one expected to be good because Carly is the Call Me Maybe-girl but blew everyone away. It was promoted really well but it got nowhere and that's because most artists nowadays don't have longevity. Lana's been extremely lucky to sell the numbers she has in today's music climate and to have achieved the longevity that she has so far. It might be a little early to tell with Honeymoon but we've got to appreciate that Lana is doing well for an artist like herself. Excuse my overlong post
  17. but it's called Swan Song. Do you know how much the perfectionist in me would have died if Swan Song was the closer? Take, for example, Jessie Ware's Swan Song. It's track 7 out of 11. It should've been track 10. This gets to me in an unhealthy way
  18. Has anyone posted about Swan Song maybe having some darker undertones? Some of the lyrics about never singing or working again and being free and going to sleep make the song sound like a suicide pact to me. Alternatively, maybe she's suggesting she'll never sing to this guy again and that it's their swan song before she breaks up with him?
  19. Am I the only one who is slightly in love with the repetition of GKIT in the chorus? And at the end. I just think it sounds like a plea. Lana's way of saying "Hey, I tried my hardest not to let the fame get to me, please know that God Knows I Tried".
  20. I've had a look and I've found loads of four star reviews (ROLLING STONE GAVE IT 4) and also a 5 star from the Standard. Pretty good so far. If Metacritic actually give it a goddamn page, I'm going to guess the high 70s for this album.
  21. After listening to it, I'm pretty sure the interlude separates the gapless first half and the second half has gaps. I'm not sure how I should word this, it sounds really odd. slaying
  22. If I'm being honest, I don't think Jon from ARTV disliked HM that much. He gave UV a 3.5 and HM a 1.5. Yeah, the albums are different but they're not so different that he hates one waaaay more than the other. Pretty sure he jumped on the hate bandwagon when he saw how much his buddy Anthony Fantano (the Internet's busiest music nerd) hated UV. And he gave BADLANDS and Cry Baby higher scores than HM. Just listened to DLMBM on Spotify and I really don't get the hate. Like, at all. It's a beautiful way to end the album and I love the minimal production
